First a few negatives:- The wooden chalets weren't terribly clean; The ablution facilities are not very private (a little bit of the full Monty is necessary when hopping out of the shower, as there are no private cubicles in which to get dressed); The distances one has to walk for even a basic ablution use or a hot cup of...

Such a beautiful place ...wow! An amazing location which you have to check out. My wife and I pitched our tent at this great place for next to nothing. The facilities were great. The staff were fantastic ...we didn't get the feeling (which we had at so many other places in SA) that they were trying to get money out...

Me and my husband had the most relaxed, magical and peaceful weekend. We stayed in one of the 3 cabins, great view, friendly staff and clean facilities. Cherry on top of the cake was one hour Swedish massage. Magical rock formations, birds of all colors and sizes and great hiking trails. Relaxed weekend, but with a pinch of adventure! Thank...

A wonderful place to disconnect (while still accessing strong wifi). Gecko Creek has a variety of different 'rooms' - from basic tents to cabins - to choose from, but the draw of this place isn't in how well equipped your tent is - it's in the common areas, the location's access to innumerable interesting things to see and do (hiking,...

This place is amazing, the track in is rough, but it is remote. The boma is the central space with communal kitchen. The safari tents are excellent value for 2 people, but are a little old and too close together. Go for the cabins they looked amazing with better views. As soon as we turned up we regretted not booking...

the 3 nights we stayed at Gecko Creek were the last 3 of our 2 week SA holiday and what an amazing couple of days it was. The Ceder Mountains are absolutely stunning, raw & untouched, perfect for hiking and outdoor lovers. We had one of the cabins and my husband worried about mosquitos but for some bizarre reason the...

Our part included seven adults and the staff were very attentive to each of us and made us feel very welcome. We were given a quick safety briefing of 'do's' and 'don'ts', after which you are left to your own devices to enjoy the peace and tranquility of being in nature. Some enjoyable trails are reached from the main house...

The venue doesn't offer much for the discerning traveller except for a stunning location and stunning views. Accommodation and amenities are basic. I think it is nice for an adventurous person, but not everyone's cup of tea.

“We were a little under-prepared and had no head torch - our hosts jumped at the opportunity to give us a solar lamp, but in the end I would recommend taking one with, as the room (chalet) we stayed in was a little of the beaten track. Also, the loos were a little bit away, so midnight meander through the bush is a welcome excuse to see the landscape in the moonlight”
