My husband, daughter ( 19 months) and I stayed for 2 days ( 02-04 Aug). They put a portable AC unit to keep it cool ( which was greatly appreciated due to heat and our little one. It was clean and comfy. As warned we could hear the music from the bar but the AC tuned it out. We blew the breaker the first night, they fixed it right away ( this was a me mistake, due to too many things plugged in). Overall, comfortable, spacious stay for the price. Additionally, the staff were friendly and helpful.

The only issue we had initially was booking as the online never worked for us and you could only call during business hours (9-5) as after 5 they are running the bar and it does get busy.

I would stay here again.

Stopped for a late afternoon meal at the Lumsden hotel pub. Lots of choices on the menu including starters sandwiches pizza flat breads and burgers. Chose the dill pickle burger - very good burger. My Companion enjoyed the chicken quesadilla Good service. Very clean. Observing the COVID requirements. Will return!!

The biggest issues involve actually securing a reservation. The phone number for the hotel rings at the "restaurant" (actually at the bar). Unfortunately the bartenders have no involvement with reservations. They don't even know what reservations have been made or which rooms are available. There is an on-line screen for requesting a reservation. So we filled one out. There were a couple of options for rooms and we chose the only one (smallest one) we find acceptable: a queen bed. We were traveling, and consummating this reservation was challenging. First, we received a "congratulations; your room reservation has been accepted" e-mail. Gee, thanks. The next day we were arriving, and really needed to know the status. We called the hotel (bar) (from our cell phone with large long distance surcharges). We were told they know nothing and to call another number ("Denny"). He (the sole keeper of reservations) didn't answer. We left a callback message (tho we were not in a good position to receive a call back). We called the bar and was given Denny's wife's number. Swell. So we called that number and was told he was just confirming our reservation. So then finally we talked to Denny.

Despite the fact they offered and we accepted a queen room, Denny told us we were in a double room. This was not acceptable (and it even cost more). Denny said too bad about the bed (or more like TS) and he would not even adjust the rate. His attitude was anything but customer oriented!

The room was actually very nice (except for a bed that I do not fit in and some electrical issues which prevented the bathroom light and fan from functioning). The A/C was also rather loud.

But the further kicker was this: You cannot even enter the hallway to the hotel rooms without a key. Not from the lot; not even from the public rooms. You *MUST* have a key. They had only a single key for my wife and me. Basically, I was locked out not only from my room but from the very hotel (hallways).

I will not return as long as Denny is in any way involved in this operation. With better, more customer service oriented management, it could be a pretty decent place.

Our hotel room was large. Although it was over the restaurant/ bar it was relatively quiet.

However, there was beer from a previous customer left in the fridge which makes me think that the fridge was not cleaned.

The sheets on the bed were awful. They were so “pilled” that they were rough! They were the most uncomfortable sheets that I have slept on.

There was no deadbolt on the door.

We paid $120 for one night.
I would not recommend this hotel.

We never miss Friday night steak night at the Lumsden Hotel & Steak Pit, Trevor from the Jerky Boys Butcher in Lumsden masters the BBQ every Friday at the hotel. One of the best steaks we have ever eaten. The steaks are done to perfection every time, with an unlimited salad bar. Get there close to 6pm, it fills up fast. The servers and staff are great, its a casual night out and nothing fancy and you wont leave hungry that's for sure. Hats off to owners Denny and Sam. Great place to end your week and start up your weekend. Remember this is a small town Hotel, with clean rooms. When you call to reserve a room you don't get Alfonzo the front desk concierge, lol You get Denny or Sam, great hosts in my book. Not sure where jazzfan65 is from, probably from TO. lol Sounds like to me he gets the same experience wherever he goes. lol a shame. Cheers, you have to check it out.

I went to the restaurant on Friday for steak with group of people. Unfortunately, we sat in front of a closed door that was opened few minutes before the steak time (6:00 pm). Once the door was opened, I got stunned with the tobacco smokes from the patio. I asked the bar attendant to either move us or close the door he just ignored me. I ordered done steak and that was my biggest mistake. My steak came in two pieces, when I talked to the waitress about it she said that is normal. The sun was right in my eye. I ate the first piece, which was ok. The second piece was burned. My accompanies were ok with their steak. The place was too noisy for me.
At the end when I got to pay I talked to the waitress about my experience she explained that they don’t have proper ventilation for the steak that is why they have to open the patio door, and next time if I would go there again ask them to seat me away from the door.

First time in Lumsden - traveled from Saskatoon on Friday to see the great local band Nickeltree (who should be famous worldwide). First the rooms are pretty much what you would expect from a small town hotel (& you won't get much sleep without ear plugs while the music is playing). It is a really nice bar - very large with separate areas for getting close to the band or staying a bit removed to make it easier to talk. Lots of TVs too & a nice looking patio. Judging by the large crowd at dinnertime, their Friday steak night is a huge hit. Our food was fantastic. Clubhouse with gluten free bread was outstanding with crispy deliciously seasoned fries. I'd make another trip out just for the meal. Drinks were deliciously ice cold & they even carry a gluten free beer (Rebellion Lentil Cream Ale)! The show was outstanding - what you always get with Nickeltree (Saskatchewan's best kept musical secret). Our server Dylan Spencer really put our night over the top. What a great, charismatic & helpful server. Prompt & friendly - it's so nice to have a server chat for a minute to really make customers feel welcome. I can't say enough good things about the service he provided on Friday. Kudos!

First of all, completely different experience from the review I read. I spoke with a very polite girl named Sam. She was extremely pleasant to deal with and I found the reservation process and client focused service well above what I expected from a small town hotel.

When I arrived, check-in was a breeze. Staff was friendly and knew exactly what was going on. My room was exactly what I reserved and extremely clean. We ate at the bar for brunch on Sunday and it was fantastic. Great selection!

Overall, great experience!
