For anyone the is staying in the Oyen area, I would recommend the drive to this hotel in Empress. Anyone that is considering staying at the Antelope Inn, where I stayed on an earlier trip, and where I had to clean the bathtub and walls before taking a bath, should consider Forksveiw Motel as an alternative.
We were working late in the area and couldn't get a room in the nearest chain hotel. We looked on our phones and saw that the Forksview had a 4 star plus rating. I wasn't disappointed. A friendly lady greeted us and the room was squeaky clean, equipped with a furnished kitchenette, full fridge and stove with a deep freeze just off the closet. The next morning we went to the "That's Empressive" for breakfast and that was another 5 out of 5.... Bottom line is that I would go out of my way to stay there again.
Recently visited Empress for barrel racing finals. So glad we decided to spend the night at the Forksview. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating, the rooms were very clean, quiet and reasonable. We won't hesitate to return or recommend.
Had the very good fortune of staying here at this someone out of the way, motel. The motel was a very good surprise. The Internet was so-so. Kind of slow. However, the furnishings very quite new. Fully furnished suites for renting for the night. Other nearby motels in Oyen were either too expensive or as one other motel in Oyen, did not have a very good review. The Forksview Motel, however, was definitely the motel to drive too. It's a bit out of the way for the average traveler, however, if wanting a quiet night's sleep, free laundry services, with great overall and personable service from the proprietress, fully functional and very clean suites, then the Forksview Motel is definitely the place to stop over the night. The rates are also inline with other motels nearby. The only thing that I would complain of is that the Motel's website is not listing the correct pricing as advertised. The price on the website is about $ 10.00 less than the actual price for a suite. Regardless, that hopefully will be corrected sometime in the future. All in all, what a great motel!! Highly recommended.…
We have just stayed for 3 nights at the Forksview Motel in Empress. Honestly, I could not believe how nice it was. I am a stickler for cleanliness, and it was immaculate. The 'suites' are, as mentioned in a previous post, are actually former senior citizens residences. We had a full kitchen, with full sized stove, fridge and microwave. This was in the same room as the living room/dining room area, with a table and chairs, a couch and two easy chairs. It's not huge, but actually there is a lot of room for a couple. The bedroom is totally separate, with it's own door, so the sound didn't travel when I stayed up to watch TV. They did not have a flat screen, but I couldn't care less about that. There were pots and pans and utensils in the kitchen, as well as lots of tea towels and dish cloths. There was tons of room to hang up your jackets in the entrance to the room, and even room for our cooler, which we had packed with food. Lots of room in the bedroom for your belongings too. The place is certainly not the MGM Grand, but we were very comfortable here. Empress is a really lovely little town, with friendly honest folks. The "Empressive" is a 'combination' type store in what I would think was the old bank building, and you can be local crafts, a few grocery items, and fuel. They were very friendly there too, and you can also get coffee there and a meal. You may want to phone ahead if travelling to Empress, as it is a very small town, and you will want to make sure what services are available when you get there. Apparently there are artisans in Empress that sell there crafts, but we were off doing other things. I saw a sign for an orchard there as well. The lady who runs Forksview Motel, Helen, was very nice to deal with. Nice Country Folks, great little spot. We had a really good time traveling around, and coming back to our little apartment/room in the evening. Oh, they have plug ins for your truck if it is cold, too.…
This is a unique little place. It was formerly a housing development for senior citizens. With the decline in demand for seniors' housing, six of the eight one bedroom apartments have been converted into motel units. Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen. There is a double bed in the bedroom and another in the living area (which does limit the amount of living space). There is a common area with access to a picnic table and BBQ outdoors. The only downside was the quality of the internet which was only consistently strong enough for service in the common area. Service was friendly but they didn't accept credit cards and made this clear upon booking.
