We booked a room at the Longhorn Saloon for two reasons: being Canadian, we know the company that built it and wanted to see it in person after watching the TV show about the build, and being Top Gear fans, we thought it would be neat to meet Sabine Schmitz. We weren't disappointed on either count - the building is gorgeous, and Sabine was kind enough to pose for a photo. That being said, it was Tarryn's service that will bring us back. She stayed in close communication with us before our arrival, let us keep our beer in the bar fridge, did a bunch of laundry for us at a reasonable price (laundry isn't a normal service, but we were desperate after everything we owned got soaked at a festival), and she cooks a mean breakfast.

The hotel is in a quiet location with a beautiful view. It's not remote, exactly, but the primary attractions of the area aren't within walking distance. The Nurburgring is a little over 5km away, for example, and there are only a couple of restaurants you can get to without driving. So if you're staying here, a car is in order, or you might find yourself a little too isolated. But it's still a lovely place to base your stay.

I went on a recent trip to the Nurburgring on our way to the Spa 24 hour race. My friend booked it so I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow... we were met with a lovely friendly bunch of people including the owner... the one and only Sabine Schmitz (top ten female racing drivers in the world and Top Gear presenter). Sabine and her team could not do any more for us and the quality of our rooms for the price was amazing. She also helped us book a hair raising trip around the Nurburgring in a "Taxi" (BMW M5 driven by Ron from RSR Spa) at 240 kph for most of the way around. Ron was a lovely ex racing driver who had been driving around the ring for 25 years so we felt quite safe in his hands (well most of the time!). I would highly recommend staying at The Longhorn Saloon as its a great location with plenty to do in the surrounding area and the attention to detail to make your trip a comfortable one is incredible. Well done to Sabine and her team for an excellent location and an even better experience.

I was intrigued when I saw a reference to a "Wild West" ranch in the Eifel region. My husband had signed up for a track day at the Nurburgring through RSR Racing, and i was looking for a hotel near the track but not right in Nurburg. He was astonished to learn that the hotel is owned by Sabine Schmitz, and we booked a room immediately.

The property consists of a main house and a separate building with the saloon and guest rooms. It sits at the end of a street in the town of Barweiler. If you drive past it you will be in farm fields. There are 4 parking spots inside the gate and several more in a little parking area on the street.

The logs used in the construction are enormous. Everything is made of beautiful wood; floors, walls, ceilings, furniture. The bathroom was large. It ran the width of the room and the shower was a good size. The bed was quite comfortable.

The newly built pool and garden area is lovely. The 'ranch' is actually not very large; there are 3 pigs and a few chickens and a good sized area for horses. There are a number of whimsical decorations scattered about, included the totem pole with the Frikadelli racing logo.

Breakfast was delicious. Tarryn, the manager, cooked eggs to order, and the coffee was fabulous. We had to be at the Nurburgring before 8am the first morning, and she was kind enough to start the breakfast early for us and the other guests going to the track. Both Sabine and Tarryn were very kind and welcoming.

The location is pretty remote. You have to have a car and probably should have a GPS. The countryside is beautiful and it's very quiet. No traffic noise; no church bells. It's a wonderful place to relax.

The ranch has an absolutely lovely wooden building, the saloon, which is absolutely immaculate. The atmosphere is really relaxed and welcoming, the staff were all really friendly as well. The rooms were fresh and clean and nicely decorated, with the wild west theme. The bathroom was also lovely, and we could see across the Eifelwald from the balcony. We had a brilliant stay, such a laid back vibe. We had brilliant recommendations from the staff as well, and delicious freshly cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble and in an absolutely brilliant location. ABsolutely brilliant, not a bad word to say.

Friendly and helpful staff (thanks Taryn); great breakfasts and superb rooms (spotless, spacious - and with instant hot water - how do they do it !). Lots of great hotels and restaurants with great food a walk away. We loved their charge system for the bar (record details on a coaster). Lovely rural atmosphere with magnificent views.
Definitely the highpoint of five weeks in UK, France and Germany !!!
We are certain to come back !!!!!!

Service, quality and location (near to Nurburgring) are top class.

We stopped at Sabine's amazing ranch for 2 nights recently but we wished it was for a lot longer., it was the most fantastic experience and have come away feeling we've made a really good friend with Sabine. She is so down to earth and fabulously funny, witty and so "un-famous"! , we felt like we'd known her forever. Her ranch is amazing to stay at, the house and saloon are absolutely beautiful, unique and so comfortable and luxurious, we truly can't rate this place (and people) high enough or find enough complimentary words for it. AMAZING covers it. PS:- AND it's not even expensive! and seriously worth every single penny.

Being that we are from Texas, we loved feeling at "home" at the Saloon! The estate is gorgeous with the most relaxing views. Our showers were ginormous compared to European standards- we loved that and pleasantly surprised! The breakfast was "farm to table," so fresh and tasty. Sabine was super fun to meet and most welcoming. We will be back again most definitely.
Best,
Micki and Jamie

What a great place to find in the middle of the Eifel no less. The scene is something out of a Texas horse ranch. Giant log cabin in a beautiful location with mountain views, chickens (and rooster) ducks, pigs and horses. There is even a pet wild boar!

This is the place to stay if you want to do long walks or mountain biking or even a bit of horse riding. Basically relax and take in the fresh air. We had Great hosts, the beds are comfortable and the tasty homemade breakfast is top!

It seems Sabine Schmitz can do it all! Thanks for creating such a unique place in the area!

A real gem in the heart of the pounding Nurburgring. The perfect place after a day at the Green Hell to experience the tranquility and peace of the western-themed accommodation. Spacious and homely that allows one to recalibrate with nature surrounded by trees and other farm animals, and have the opportunity to pick up some pointers from Sabine herself!! Very, very welcoming experience.
