We (us two and the dogger) ate here twice within 6 days whilst we were staying at a pretty cottage in the village. We chatted to the landlord and landlady, as well as several dog-owning regulars, and the hairy hound had a big biscuit treat while we settled down to enjoy some of the very best pub food in the...

We have a cottage in the village but haven't been for over 3 year, Went for a meal with the family Saturday night, the infamous landlord wasn't bad as others have reviewed, in fact he seemed quite pleasant. We all enjoyed our meals, the meals are large & served on hot plates, the prices are reasonable.

A sign on the door says 'a grumpy old man & a lovely woman live here'. Seemed to be true. Dogs are allowed in but not made welcome. We were the only people in for lunch at midday on a weekday. The food was OK. Limited choice for vegetarians. The pub is dark & the atmosphere poor despite a pleasant...

My husband and I were greeted with a grunt and a snappy landlord. It was clear our very existence offended him so instead of ordering a meal we settled for a plate of chips delivered by a snarling older lady. The chips probably came right off their shoulders. We were made to feel very unwelcome. If you need hospitality or...

We popped into the Craven Heifer this weekend (Saturday 9/7/16) at the end of a walk for a drink and some lunch. I have to say that the girl behind the bar was very polite and helpful. In addition the landlady was absolutely fabulous and was so welcoming and helpful, providing us with a towel for our dog and even...

Booked in as a part of 10 ,. ( 11 if you count my baby grandson ) for the weekend. My niece was getting married just down the road at Taitlands. Another 10 of the party joined us for dinner on Friday night and we all had an enjoyable evening. The rooms were bright and tastefully decorated with all the...

I stayed here whilst I completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge as its only a couple of miles up the road. The location is perfect for walkers and also for those who are heading into the local towns. The Pub itself is lovely, a typical Countryside pub with fabulous meals. The room I stayed in was beautifully decorated and had...

I visited the Craven Heifer with a friend for an overnight stay before tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks on the following day (post event - we conquered all three peaks!) We stayed in single rooms which were very clean and nicely presented at a very good price. We had an evening meal - both our meals were well cooked and...

My brother and I went for a walk down the pubic foot path from Settle Collage down beside the River Ribble to Stainforth. It is a beautiful walk of 2 1/2 miles. By the time we reached Stainforth, we felt the need for sustenance and went in search of a pub. Here we found the Craven Heifer. As tourists, we...

We enjoyed an evening meal here recently. The staff were very friendly and a pleasure to meet. The food was lovely and well presented. The menu was varied and extensive, with the usual all time favourites to more unusual dishes, at reasonable prices. There is a lovely garden to the rear, looking over the pretty stream. It is in a...
