One night stay in a room with 2 separate beds
Clean and well equipped, I would have liked to have stayed there a little longer
A small hot drink welcome kit would have been appreciated (coffee, tea and sugar)
With this fall season a fixed hair dryer was also missing from this bathroom

Excellent place, with a splendid garden, but also a very characteristic structure. It's a shame I only stayed one night, but I was passing through...nice and clean room overlooking the large garden. The only flaw was breakfast, but I was in a hurry and I went down ahead of time and everything wasn't ready yet.

This hotel looks more like a chambre d'hôtes.
Still, services are full and exactly what you can expect in this region.
You are near Lyon and many opportunities are offered around to experience France and its culture.

Really very very average old-fashioned room, for a price of 70 euros per night especially in the context of a wedding at the beginning of July, a 140 bed, very very average bedding, cleanliness leaves something to be desired, no air conditioning, complicated in the middle of summer. .. breakfast at 13 euros..
It's a shame that establishments like this aren't up to date...

The hotel has rather friendly staff (which does not speak English though) and it was a rather good accommodation for our purposes (we did not want to stay on the campground due to the weather conditions). It is located in a nice old house on the river Rhone. However, the house is unfortunately not very well renovated. The rooms are a bit small and rather uncomfy. A bit overpriced given the value. Would not book it for normal holidays...

The only positive thing that can be said about this hotel is, that it is a nice old house, kind of chateau from the outside. That´s about it. When you enter the hall/ reception it smells instantly and stuff/ garbage is standing around everywhere (like baby cots, sheets and blankets, chairs etc. - at 5.30 pm, so even if this is housekeeping, should be able to do it less messy...) The woman at the reception was also untidy and - sorry to say so - smelly either. We went straight away to the toilet near the reception with our children and those were 1. falling apart and 2. super dirty, like dirt that haven´t been cleaned away for decades...Not nice smell coming out from the kitchen either...We didn´t get to see the rooms because we were part of a marriage that had also booked guests in the hotel next door - that is apparently working together with Domaine des Cedres. This place called "Hotel du Monolithe" should not be called a Hotel but this is a different review. From what I have seen from Domaines des Cedres I would absolutely not recommend it. Drive thought Villebois and find another pretty place, that is my recommendation.

We needed an overnight option and found this hotel by mere chance. It is a 19th century castle situated within spacious and well-kept grounds. The rooms are cosy and well furnished if a little old fashioned and slightly worn. The owner was very friendly and helped us in location a restaurant for our dinner. Breakfast was great with lots of French breakfast goodies such as baguette, croissants, rolls or fresh pancakes! The hotel is very quiet and you can have breakfast in the garden outside or inside in the restaurant featuring a huge fireplace. A charming place for staying overnight directly at the river Rhone!

We spent one night in this hotel during a festive event.
The area is very pleasant with a superb park, the positive points stop there unfortunately.
The reception room is good but the toilets are old and borderline clean. The least we can do when offering such a large reception room is to have toilets that are up to standard, it is a sign of cleanliness and respect for customers.
The welcome is uninteresting, we feel that we have tried to make an effort but the taste and class are sorely lacking. Once again, it's really regrettable because the place has everything it takes to make it a place full of charm and character.
Access to the rooms is via a large staircase, which could almost be promising but the illusion stops abruptly upon entering the rooms.
Outdated tapestry, almost faded because it is no longer up to date, poor linoleum on the floor, poorly laid (we weren't even able to get to the plinths!!), furniture placed there, no consistency of style between the bed, the desk and the wardrobe!!!! We have the impression that we made the attic and took all the furniture that was left there to furnish the bedrooms!!! Almost shameful so little know-how, or even good manners...
A huge cupboard in the entrance then a white fridge with a microwave on it and next to it a huge construction site socket placed on the floor!! It feels like camping!!!! It’s just beyond belief!!! No lamp is matched, even some wall lights do not have a bulb!!! As decoration, a poor painting placed on the fireplace with in front....a mirror!!!!! Who says better ??? We reach the holy grail of bad taste, or negligence, at this stage, we don't even know anymore...
No mattress pad on the bed, you can see the mattress through the fitted sheet!
Musty and old smell in the room as a bonus!
And the pinnacle comes in the bathroom!!!! It feels like a cheap Soviet hotel from the 70s!!! Oh yes, we redid the floor sorry! We laid a line of cement tiles there! Just to say, without a doubt, that we had renovated!!
Dirty toilets, a tiny sink where nothing can be put, no shelves, a towel dryer from another era and the shower!!!!! Tiny, with such an archaic hot-cold system that I've never seen one like that, old tray, same for the shower door....in short, avoid it!!!!!
And we didn't have hot water!!!! The total !!!
In short, after visiting some of our friends' rooms, we quickly realized that all the rooms were of the same ilk!!! The 2nd floor is worse, you access it by a tiny and dangerous staircase made of old wood, you arrive at a sort of towel rack placed there and the corridors are just gloomy!!!! Haunted castle limit brrrrr! The rooms are just as dilapidated as that of the 1st but with lower ceilings, which accentuates the dark side.

We paid 80€ per night for our room, just a shame!!!!! Moreover, they are charged €71 on their website, not very fair play to increase them during festive events!!! We're taking people hostage!
Of course, it is very comfortable to be able to sleep on site during a wedding or a birthday but a little respect for your customers! Have your rooms redone as required in order to offer a place that lives up to your expectations!
Charging €80 per night for rooms with such precarious comfort is simply unacceptable!

We don't know where they got their 3 stars, probably the setting, which overall is majestic, it's indisputable but frankly, that's not everything! We don't sleep in the park!!! A promising facade but an interior far from what one might expect, it's a huge disappointment, almost a hold-up!

If you have to stop there, avoid it!!!

Decent hotel, satisfactory value for money. A good decorative touch and in my opinion would not be too much.
Very decent breakfast and practical, free customer parking which are real positive points.
