Pleasantly surprised with how quiet the hotel was, impressed with the view and conveniently situated right next to the ferry terminal. Would stay again for sure, can't beat coffee on the balcony, even on the fogged in mornings. There was such a calm vibe surrounding the town. The museum is chalk full of awesome history and artifacts and only a 3 minute walk away. Locals are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to the next visit and seeing more of the Island!

The room was more than adequate for our needs. View from balcony breathtaking. Spotlessly clean and well presented. Great communal kitchen with everything you would need to prepare a meal.

Robin and team run a great place. Food from the take-out window was really good.

I had the most wonderful stay at the Oceanfront Hotel on Malcolm Island. Robin and Ray were so nice, immediately responding to every need. I loved my room which was designed like my home, instead of a straight line like big hotels. They also had extra amenities like a heated towel rack and heated bathroom floor! The hotel also has a neat little museum room. I especially liked the view of the waterfront and wide ocean. The hotel didn't just meet the needs of visitors to the island. I watched locals making use of the hotel services also. I like this hotel which was one of the highlights of my visit to Malcolm Island.

We were able to spend three peaceful nights at the Ocean Front Hotel. Perfect location right on the water a few steps from the ferry. Covid has restricted life a little but friendly people abound. We did the two major walks from Bere Point and to BIg Lake. Never a smooth path to be seen. Enough choice on finding food as the Hotel has a take a way and there is the Burger Barn at the harbour. Interesting museum to learn the history. Always helpful owner and the dog loved it all.

On April 20, 2018 I arrived by ferry on Malcolm Island. I was booked into the Oceanfront hotel for 2 nights. When I arrived the owner of the hotel mentioned to me that my room faced First Street and not the ocean. She offered me an ocean-side room at a decent rate and I took her up on her offer. Before settling on a room she showed me 2 of the ocean-side rooms. The view of the water was spectacular. As the hotel is very close to the BC Ferries terminal, I would watch the arriving and departing ferries. The water activity is minimal and, therefore, the location is quiet and peaceful.

The owner of the hotel was very helpful. She told me about the trails and how to get there. As my arrival in Sointula was prior to the busier tourist season, there were only limited places to eat. She contacted the Upper Crust Bakery in my presence to find out how long they would be open on April 20. The baker, Victor, was making pizzas that night. I later attended there and had an awesome homemade pizza.

The hotel's proximity to the ferry terminal makes for easy access to the ferry. Having a car is a bonus, but not a necessity if you are looking for a very quiet, relaxing time. The ferry connects to Alert Bay for no additional charge and the places to see at Alert Bay are within walking distance.

I was very impressed with the Oceanfront Hotel. The current owner has been there for 34 years and was a wealth of information. There are maps and brochures in the reception area. This is a place that I will return to without hesitation and would recommend it to others.

It really did feel like being on a cruise ship only the balcony was much bigger and closer to the water. My daughter and I stayed one night but wished it could have been longer. The hotel is cozy, clean and felt very safe. The owner, Robin, is a very sweet lady and I bought one of her beautiful, hand quilted jackets which I will cherish. She sells an assortment of other handicrafts that she makes which are unique and beautiful. We stayed in room 208 which was lovely and would recommend everyone splurge a little for an ocean front room. Location of the hotel is close to everything you need. There is a pub and restaurant below but we were not affected by any noise. Very relaxing and will definitely stay there again if back in pretty Sointula.

This place is a treat! It's quirky, and so is Malcolm Island. Unbelievable views from the balcony. Be prepared, though. If you come in the winter, you may find very limited services. It's pretty quiet. When you tour the island, you won't believe the views. To the north, it's absolutely unspoiled in every direction. If you want to see what the Gulf Islands all used to be like, go stay here!

Our 3 night escape up-island was a refreshing birthday weekend getaway and the Oceanfront was a big part of that, starting with the early check-in to get full value
for our first day. appreciated having two big beds and the big balcony was private and a great window on the beach and sea which was constantly entertaining, be it seals playing in the kelp, fishers reeling in salmon, or the night i watched 3 orcas following a straight line from the ferry's wake to the entrance to broughton strait.
It was calming and ever-changing watching the light slowly fade from our deck on all nights. There is a reassuring, retro feel to the hotel, but that doesn't mean dated. And it was quiet, as is the island, except for the seals slapping the water.
Speaking of which, the water pressure in the hotel was amazing and hot was hot right away and it was nice to have a tub. The big bonus, with limited eating options on the isle at present, was to have access to a full kitchen. and Robyn, the manager, helped me in getting a cake from the bakery for our 'birthday dinner'
dessert. The take-out window at the hotel also helped in that endeavour and prepared a vegetarian option specifically for my wife. Felt like a throwback to a
kinder, gentler world when we were on Malcolm island. And Robyn is a fabric artist,
using dyes from island plants on 'repurposed' clothes that are on display near the reception. My wife came home with a few of them as a present to herself. A totally,
satisfying, peaceful and rejuvenating visit in strange times.

Very friendly, and accommodating. This oceanfront hotel is the perfect place for those who wish to get away, and just relax. We took advantage of the off-season in early April, so there was very little to do on Malcolm Island, other than go for walks, explore, and learn of the Finnish and Indigenous peoples history in the area. The hotel restaurant, as well as all the cafes in Sointula were closed for the season, so the hotel staff allowed us to use the upstairs kitchen as our own. And, they put us in a nearby room so we wouldn't have to travel far to cook. The room was quaint, but nice and clean with a comfy bed. The view of the harbour with the ferry landing close by was awesome from the top floor. There is even a way to ride the ferries for free from Sointula to Alert Bay on a nearby island. Just ask the staff how. It's well worth the trip!

Thank goodness for Tripadvisor! I read the reviews and saw the photos of the Malcolm Island Inn and booked a stay there as a result and I am SO glad that I did! The owners Robin and Ray were so friendly I felt like I was at home. They were willing to work with my budget, let me use a kitchen to help save money, and even brought me a book about bears because they knew I had come to the area to see some. The sheets were wonderful as was falling asleep to the sound of the surf and waking up to a beautiful sea view. My faith in humanity has been a little bit restored....
