My teen daughter, dog, and I stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every bit of it. When we first walked into the room, we felt like we were on a cruise ship, as the view was pure ocean! Comfortable, clean beds, nice deck to enjoy our morning tea, and a long beach out front to walk. Also, it’s located right in town, with the grocery store and a cute little bakery right across the street. We were treated well and our dog was welcome. A very pleasant experience :)
Robyn and Ray are two of the most easygoing and personable hotel owners we've ever met. We arrived to Sointula prepared for a quiet, isolated two days but did not know that the grocery store co-op and its few restaurants do not open on certain days, and so we were left stuck for dinner on our one night stay. There was a gas station that sold frozen pizza etc and the hotel does have a great fully equipped kitchen for guests to use. But instead of just letting a pregnant woman eat junk food for dinner, Robyn immediately offered to have Ray cook us a 'simple' meal to get us through the night. She told us to go off, explore the island, call her on our way back and a meal would be ready for us for a small extra charge when we returned. We didn't expect that they would have prepared a…
The Oceanfront hotel is rustic with basic amenities and the atmosphere is warm & welcoming. We had an oceanfront room which boasted 2 queen beds, small fridge, microwave, kettle & small coffee maker. The view is fantastic and while there is a pub attached to the hotel noise was not an issue. The hotel also has a shared kitchen with full stove/oven, full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven & toaster. Fully stocked with dishes, cutlery & cooking pots etc..... Robin, the owner was very accommodating. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway in a village where time seems to have stood still.
Spent one night in May. Friendly owner Robin helped us with many things. Oarganized me to meet a Finnish born lady. Had a nice discussion at coffee and pulla( Finnish sweet bun). The views from my balcony were great. No breakfast service. Big pub in the house. The building very interesting, designed by Robin' s husband. Lots of colors.
We spent a fortnight in the Oceanfronthotel. After a warm and friendly welcome we arrived in our cozy room with a wonderful seaview. The comfortable room was fitted with fridge and coffeemaker. The beds were very comfortable. After the first night we decided to spend our complete holyday in the Oceanfronthotel. Our friendly hosts advised us where to go, introduced us to interesting people and assisted us in every possible way. Friendly staff served us, every wish was immidiately realised. The Hotel is quiet, the Island is an ideal spot to hike, fish, observe whales shore based or just relax. We will certainly come again, thanks to the hosts and the whole team!
It was our pleasure being stranded in Sointula while staying in this quaint, eclectic and charming hotel. A 5-Star view, with a comfortable and functional room; a great value. We were forced to get aquatinted with the delightful little community of Sointula as we waited for replacement boat parts. Robin and Ray were our hosts and the hotel was a perfect temporary home. The hotel is within walking distance to the ferry dock, co-op grocery store or free loaner bikes. Our room had a kitchenette so, more than just toast in the morning, we could dine in for dinner when we wanted. The ONLY place to eat dinner in Sointula (June) was downstairs in their pub.
This accommodation is like stepping back in time and it brought back childhood memories of accommodation. The rooms are comfortable and quaintly decorated. They have a fridge in the room which is most helpful if you are travelling with a cooler and need food items stored. The beds were comfortable and the room had all we needed. There is a full kitchen available for guests to use with utensils, dishes, pots and pans and a stove. There is a table and chairs as well as a sofa so it is really a great added benefit if you stay here. There was not a hair dryer or shampoo in the room but you just need to ask at the front desk and they will gladly supply what you need. It was a fun place to visit.
Quaint, clean rooms with beautiful ocean views. Hotel owner is friendly and adds her unique artistic touches to the rooms to make them feel “homey”. Found some beautiful sea glass pieces, there are tons of craft grade pieces and for well trained eyes.....some fantastic collector pieces to be found right in front of the hotel. We love Bere Point, even if whales aren’t viewed, the shoreline there is spectacular.
As we arrived the welcoming was really warm and friendly. The rooms are very clean and big. ( the one we had) Bathroom very clean. The TV reception was also very good what is not common in many hotels.
Views from our deck were spectacular of the sunsets. Gorgeous shots. Lovely to sit on the deck wrapped in afghans and enjoy the evening views over the water to the lights of Port McNeil. Amazing staff and owners who were so incredibly helpful!!! Felt like we had know them for years. The Rub Pub had good food and again very friendly staff and locals as well. With such a warm welcoming feeling it is easy to think of returning.
