The oceanfront balcony rooms make us feel like we are on a wonderful cruise ship looking out to sea! Rustic, spacious, comfortable and very clean accommodation complete with duvets and handmade crocheted blankets for the balcony chairs. We used the well-appointed communal kitchen to make breakfast and some dinners. The Whale's Rub Pub is a great spot for a drink, downstairs in the hotel with the same ocean view. We understand that the Ravintola Restaurant, also in the hotel, is open during the summer months. So much to see on beautiful Malcolm Island. We will be back!
We are staying here. The hotel is great. Friendly staff. Our room is perfect for what we need. Clean and accommodating. Has a kitchen if need for communal use. Has a local vibe which is why we booked it. Located right on beach beside ferry terminal. Make sure to bring groceries if staying as I can say for the month of May there is not alot of places to eat out. Sointula is a beautiful place slower pace and peaceful which is perfect. I suggest to bring a vehicle so you can explore. The island has gravel access roads to some great places.
We visited Malcolm Island and stayed at the Oceanfront Hotel for two nights. We had a second floor room with a balcony overlooking the beach, ocean and the ferry terminal. Honestly I could have sat on that balcony and watched the ocean, the clouds, the sea birds and the boats all day - it was just that beautiful and relaxing. Wifi is spotty to non-existant which makes for an even more relaxed get-away. Plan to disconnect for a few days. If you can't then better not to come here. The hotel is a "character hotel" because it is older, maybe a bit quirky and has some history if you care to seek it out. The room we had was 208, lovely blue room with 2 double beds, a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen just down the hall so you can…
The Cove Adventure Tours crew spent a lovely evening at The Oceanfront Hotel this week. We had an ocean view room with a protected balcony and a cozy fireplace. We visited with the owner/manager, Robin, who is very friendly and gave us lots of information and advice about exploring the island. The hotel itself is very well taken care of and our room had been recently renovated. We sat on the balcony for most of the evening and watched sea birds, eagles, and the glass-calm water. We toured around Sointula the next day and hiked the Matejoa Heritage Trail, visited Bere Point and Mitchell Bay, had delicious fish and chips at the Burger Barn, and bought lovely homemade soaps from Nan's Hands. We would definitely recommend The Oceanfront Hotel and Sointula to anyone who wants to…
My husband and I have recently returned from a lovely few days in Sointula. We had a wonderful time and we look forward to a return trip to further explore the island. We were welcomed on our early arrival by Robyn the friendly owner of the hotel and we were made to feel at home immediately. Our room was clean and well appointed with an unobstructed ocean view and a private balcony. We really enjoyed a local hiking club expedition to Lizard Point and the petroglyph that the owner of the hotel, Robyn, invited us on. The moderate hike was lead by John, a local, who was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the surroundings. We walked through old growth forest to the beach where we viewed the petroglyph and the coastal views over to the mainland mountains along the ski…
We spent 3 nights there to access the hiking and sight seeing on the island. It's during the off season, and renovations were being done in other areas. Our room had a great view with a balcony over looking the ocean. It was kind of beside the ferry terminal, but you don't notice it. Friendly staff, comfy beds, clean room. We had a fridge in our room that didn't work, but no big deal as it's pretty quiet in the small town this time of year and they probably didn't know... BUT we had access tons kitchenette, we kept all our food in fridge and freezer there and cooked all our own meals as we are vegans and restaurants are limited for our food needs. We would stay there again.
I took my son there for his 35th birthday this week and we had a lovely experience with spectacular sunsets and ocean views, despite the rain in the day. The hotel is older but well-appointed and the hosts, Robyn and Ray, were very friendly and helpful. We loved the little extras like afghans on the deckchairs on the balcony. We were even lucky enough to share our balcony with a large orca whale carving! The other locals whom we met were extremely pleasant as well. Off season, not much is open in town or even in the hotel except on weekends (e.g. pub. restaurant) but we were well-informed of this when we reserved. Nothing detracted from the beauty of the island or the sense of 'harmony' we experienced. And, btw, the island and especially the hotel, boast a collection of…
Although the facility is older, the room was clean and fresh. Had a nice balcony with comforters. The bed was firm and had wonderful duvets. The only sound was the blowing wind and lapping of waves. The staff was friendly and most helpful in making sure we enjoyed our brief stay in Sointula and Malcolm Island
We recently spent a night at the Malcolm Island Inn, something we've wanted to do on previous trips to Sointula. The hotel is an older, brightly painted, welcoming, funky older hotel with a narrow winding staircase that took us up to our exceptionally clean, cosy room. The sunset view from the deck was wonderful and we appreciated the added touch of hand crocheted afghans on the deck chairs. The water pressure in the bathroom was more than we expected and the beds comfy enough for a good night's sleep lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves. Every person we dealt with from owners to housekeeping and servers in the pub were very friendly and informative. We enjoyed supper on the deck of the pub. I had a very flavourful rib supper with twice baked potato and salad while my…
Spectacular view from cozy clean rooms complete with afghans on the deck chairs. Fall asleep listening to the waves. Conveniently located minutes from the ferry landing. Pet friendly. Rooms are not super sound proof but come equipped with fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee maker. Very friendly and helpful staff.
