Private kitchens and kitchenettes are also available in select rooms. Free wifi is offered in all areas. Whale-watching, sports fishing and crabbing charters are available, just ask us! Beach combing for sea-glass, hiking trails and kayaking opportunities are also available from our property! Come enjoy our small island lifestyle, and leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and at peace! Oh, and please drink the water! It's the best in the world! We offer both short and long term accommodations. While our pub is currently closed due to COVID, we have opened a new takeout window that is open for lunch and dinner from 11:30-1:30/5-8 every day! We visited Malcolm Island and stayed at the Oceanfront Hotel for two nights. We had a second floor room with a balcony overlooking the beach, ocean and the ferry terminal. Honestly I could have sat on that balcony and watched the ocean, the clouds, the sea birds and the boats all day - it was just that beautiful and relaxing. Wifi is spotty to non-existant which makes for an even more relaxed get-away. Plan to disconnect for a few days. If you can't then better not to come here. The hotel is a "character hotel" because it is older, maybe a bit quirky and has some history if you care to seek it out. The room we had was 208, lovely blue room with 2 double beds, a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen just down the hall so you can totally cook your own meals, meet other guests and by the way, did I mention that Sointula is Finnish for "Bring your own Food" (BYOF)? I'm serious about this - almost nowhere to get something to eat! Bring your own food! Anyway, back to the hotel....this is basic accommodation but our room was clean and comfortable, the towels were new, soft and white and changed the second day! No hairdryers ladies - bring your own. The hotel has a pub but it is only open during peak season July-September. I don't think this could possibly be considered an accessible hotel, no elevator. Robyn, the owner was helpful and informative about what there is to see and do on the island and could help arrange tours as needed. Two days wasn't long enough for all of the beaches and trails available. I spent some time on the beach in front of the hotel and picked up a whole sandwich bag of sea glass - heaven if you are a "collector". We had a great time and would stay here again.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are happy to announce that the Sointula Pie Company has opened a pizza take out place next door to us. Now you can buy a pizza and bring it back to eat on your oceanfront deck. It is fabulous pizza too! More pies will be added along the way. We also have the Burger Barn open from noon until 7 pm. Both restaurants are closed on Tuesday and Wed. so it is still BYOF on those days. You can buy supplies in the Co-op and cook dinner in our guest kitchen. Hope you come back again. Robin

The Cove Adventure Tours crew spent a lovely evening at The Oceanfront Hotel this week. We had an ocean view room with a protected balcony and a cozy fireplace. We visited with the owner/manager, Robin, who is very friendly and gave us lots of information and advice about exploring the island. The hotel itself is very well taken care of and our room had been recently renovated. We sat on the balcony for most of the evening and watched sea birds, eagles, and the glass-calm water. We toured around Sointula the next day and hiked the Matejoa Heritage Trail, visited Bere Point and Mitchell Bay, had delicious fish and chips at the Burger Barn, and bought lovely homemade soaps from Nan's Hands. We would definitely recommend The Oceanfront Hotel and Sointula to anyone who wants to getaway and have a peaceful and nature-filled experience.

My husband and I have recently returned from a lovely few days in Sointula. We had a wonderful time and we look forward to a return trip to further explore the island. We were welcomed on our early arrival by Robyn the friendly owner of the hotel and we were made to feel at home immediately. Our room was clean and well appointed with an unobstructed ocean view and a private balcony. We really enjoyed a local hiking club expedition to Lizard Point and the petroglyph that the owner of the hotel, Robyn, invited us on. The moderate hike was lead by John, a local, who was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the surroundings. We walked through old growth forest to the beach where we viewed the petroglyph and the coastal views over to the mainland mountains along the ski to ski highway.

We spent 3 nights there to access the hiking and sight seeing on the island. It's during the off season, and renovations were being done in other areas. Our room had a great view with a balcony over looking the ocean. It was kind of beside the ferry terminal, but you don't notice it. Friendly staff, comfy beds, clean room. We had a fridge in our room that didn't work, but no big deal as it's pretty quiet in the small town this time of year and they probably didn't know... BUT we had access tons kitchenette, we kept all our food in fridge and freezer there and cooked all our own meals as we are vegans and restaurants are limited for our food needs. We would stay there again.

I took my son there for his 35th birthday this week and we had a lovely experience with spectacular sunsets and ocean views, despite the rain in the day. The hotel is older but well-appointed and the hosts, Robyn and Ray, were very friendly and helpful. We loved the little extras like afghans on the deckchairs on the balcony. We were even lucky enough to share our balcony with a large orca whale carving! The other locals whom we met were extremely pleasant as well. Off season, not much is open in town or even in the hotel except on weekends (e.g. pub. restaurant) but we were well-informed of this when we reserved. Nothing detracted from the beauty of the island or the sense of 'harmony' we experienced. And, btw, the island and especially the hotel, boast a collection of absolutely amazing wood carvings, many for sale. I just wish I could have brought one home but took a piece of driftwood for a walking stick for a day or two. Afterwards? I left it where it belongs, on the island...:)

Although the facility is older, the room was clean and fresh. Had a nice balcony with comforters. The bed was firm and had wonderful duvets. The only sound was the blowing wind and lapping of waves. The staff was friendly and most helpful in making sure we enjoyed our brief stay in Sointula and Malcolm Island

We recently spent a night at the Malcolm Island Inn, something we've wanted to do on previous trips to Sointula. The hotel is an older, brightly painted, welcoming, funky older hotel with a narrow winding staircase that took us up to our exceptionally clean, cosy room. The sunset view from the deck was wonderful and we appreciated the added touch of hand crocheted afghans on the deck chairs. The water pressure in the bathroom was more than we expected and the beds comfy enough for a good night's sleep lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves. Every person we dealt with from owners to housekeeping and servers in the pub were very friendly and informative. We enjoyed supper on the deck of the pub. I had a very flavourful rib supper with twice baked potato and salad while my husband enjoyed a good old fashioned hamburger. We look forward to our next visit to the island and will definitely stay here again. Whale done!

Spectacular view from cozy clean rooms complete with afghans on the deck chairs. Fall asleep listening to the waves. Conveniently located minutes from the ferry landing. Pet friendly. Rooms are not super sound proof but come equipped with fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee maker. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Just returned from a family wedding on the island and had a wonderful stay. Our room 210 was lovely with the most outstanding view. The deck was my favorite spot!
Dining on the island is very limited so be prepared. The room is equipped with a hotplate, microwave, bar fridge and a toaster oven so very adequate to cook your own .
The island is fantastic to visit and Sointula is truly a "Place of Harmony".

Only complaint is that I didn't stay longer. Great trip and a cheap price. Thanks to Ray & Robin we had an amazing time!
