We spent 2 nights at this wonderfully upgraded hotel. One night was just not enough. It had a gas fireplace, kitchen, heated towel rack and floor in the bathroom, a fabulous glassed in deck overlooking the ocean, hand made afghans to snuggle into while relaxing on the deck, etc. I will return as soon as I possibly can. Robin was perfect at responding to our needs, with information on hikes, places of interest, and on Wednesday, get to the ferry lineup early.
Malcolm Island Inn was our choice for a recent visit to Sointula because it is pet friendly and situated right in Sointula, seconds from the ferry dock. Since our visit was in the "off season" we brought our own meals to prepare in the guest kitchen which was just steps from our room. We enjoyed this opportunity to meet others who were also using the facility and had a number of interesting conversations with fellow guests. Our room featured a fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, comfortable beds and an amazing view of the ocean. We were happy to stay at Malcolm Island Inn.
We flew to Port Hardy and rented a car and took a short ferry ride to Sointula. We stayed at the Malcolm Island Inn. A warm welcome from the owners. We had an ocean view and a patio, fireplace and a small kitchen area. We explored the island and went to an arts event in the evening. Definitely worth the trip to discover all the Finnish history in the area. We went to the Upper Crust Bakery for Pizza and breakfast goodies. Well worth the visit and will bring our bikes next time and would like to come in the summer. Bring some food for cooking in the winter season, as there is limited places to eat.
This place is a treat! It's quirky, and so is Malcolm Island. Unbelievable views from the balcony. Be prepared, though. If you come in the winter, you may find very limited services. It's pretty quiet. When you tour the island, you won't believe the views. To the north, it's absolutely unspoiled in every direction. If you want to see what the Gulf Islands all used to be like, go stay here!
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and our room was amazing. We stayed green lodge 3 and the view and room were awesome. The lady working and I can't remember her name was very nice and very knowledgeable which made our weekend even better. When we said we were here for our anniversary she later returned with the best ever homemade cupcakes and a nice bottle of wine and a anniversary card. What a great gift for us. We saw her later on with her beautiful dog on a walk and thanked her again. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you once again for an amazing stay and if my cat didn't eat part of the card when we got home I would remember the ladies name. we will be back for sure.
February is the off season, so when registering the owner made sure I knew there were no restaurants open so to bring food, and that there was a shared kitchen down the hall from our room. What a fantastic way to meet some of the other guests, and it had everything we could need for cooking and eating. Our room 208 had a wonderful view, comfortable beds and the lightest warmest quilts I have ever come across. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Definitely one of the places I'll be headed back to. It's a remote location, limited TV and slow internet, but that's not what we were there for so it was fine.
Room was cozy, clean, light and had delightful little details. Loved the fire place. Great view, we enjoyed sitting on the balcony wrapped in the crocheted blankets. It was our first stay and we were welcomed like old friends.
Thank goodness for Tripadvisor! I read the reviews and saw the photos of the Malcolm Island Inn and booked a stay there as a result and I am SO glad that I did! The owners Robin and Ray were so friendly I felt like I was at home. They were willing to work with my budget, let me use a kitchen to help save money, and even brought me a book about bears because they knew I had come to the area to see some. The sheets were wonderful as was falling asleep to the sound of the surf and waking up to a beautiful sea view. My faith in humanity has been a little bit restored....
Lovely sea view room, with balcony, bedroom, sitting room and full kitchen. The bed was excellent, sheets to die for and even great pillows (we're picky pillow people). We spent 2 nights at the inn. Robin and Ray were great hosts and Vincent, our server in the pub was always accommodating. Great coffee in the room and everything you'd want in the kitchen. Nice big bathroom with fluffy white towels. Everything you'd want in a room and more. We can't say enough.
We arrived at this Inn not knowing what to expect. After a call to inquire if they had a room he said they did. He said we could check in early if we wanted. Upon arrival Ray showed us all the rooms. All the rooms were so different. It was kinda neat how every room had its own unique theme and feeling. Some had there own private deck with ocean views, some had ocean views while others looked over the main street of Sointula. Ray gave us an upgrade to a room with a private patio overlooking the ocean. The room was Awesome. The Beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything you would ever need to cook food with not to mention it had a bar fridge and microwave. The bathroom was well done and modern. It had a rain shower, heated floors and a heated towel bar. Not to mention…
