We stayed two nights in the Malcolm island inn. A very nice sea view, nice room with balcony, excellent service and very helpful owners. The island is very nice to stay for a few days. We saw Wales at the beach and did a nice cycling tour. An excellent place for relaxing in a remote laid back place with beautiful scenery.
We spent three nights at the Malcolm Inn and we had a fabulous time. The owners were SO accommodating, even going so far as to lend us the use of a full kitchen at no extra charge when they heard we were vegetarian. The room we had was awesome, overlooking the ocean, and it was surprisingly quiet (even with a Pub downstairs) and the bed was great. We couldn't ask for more and will definitely be going back again. The bonus was a free boat ramp nearby and the best whale watching ever. We saw humpbacks, orca, sea lions, seals, and even a sea otter.
Though I didn't actually stay over night here, I have to give a huge high five to the staff at this hotel!! They were friendly, accommodating, willing to work within your budget and very thoughtful. They even called us back to check in to see if we needed anything else, talk about service! If we come to this island we would definitely stay here. Check it out, I am sure you will not be disappointed :-)
I stayed over in Siontula on business for the first time. A friend had been working here over the winter and recommended Malcom Island Inn. When I arrived I was met by one of the owners who obviously should be in the hospitality business - check in left me laughing. I went to the bar for a cold one and met the second owner Robin. These people are having so much fun making a living on Malcolm Island it's like play to them. It's an older hotel so I was prepared for the mediocre. Not so. My room was spotless clean and had a nice little kitchenette with a hot plate and toaster oven, fridge and micro. The bed was just right and the view is marvellous. While having that cocktail I must have met six locals coming and going - all were darned interesting and interested to know who I…
We arrived on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to room 210. Robin (the owner) left a gift basket that included a tin of local salmon, crackers, salmon jerky and a neat fishing lure key chain. So thoughtful and much appreciated. Our queen bed had an original, funky duvet with upgraded linens and pillows. The Balcony was semi-enclosed, a bonus in the off-season I imagine. The Adirondack chairs on the balcony were cushioned and we spent two lovely evenings, reading and watching the sunset over the water. The bathroom was recently updated with heated tile floors, heated towel bar! Although we did not need the heat, I can see how these features would be a bonus in the winter, along with the new gas fire place. We used the small kitchenette to prepare…
We stayed in the Eagles Nest at Orca Lodge for 3 nights in the summer. Even with 5 of us it was roomy and spacious. It was well equipped and had lovely furniture. As a family we travel a lot but it was the best view we have ever had! Robin (the owner) was friendly and accommodating, even taking us dragon boating on the sea which was great fun, we felt very included and welcome. It was one of the best parts of a three week trip to Canada, I wish we could have stayed longer!
We spend some wonderful relaxing days at this beautiful place. The room (superior) was excellent, spacious, nicely equipped with a lovely personal touch, and a great view. We enjoyed the combination of inn, restaurant and bar much. Very friendly and helpful personnel.
It was a nice clean room with comfy beds and a great view. My only complaint would be the restaurant is nothing special and they should have told me that the entire place (pub, restaurant and hotel) is cash only. I was flabbergasted at the fact that I didn't have to pay when I first got there and wasn't told until I was leaving that I had to pay with cash because they aren't equipped with anything to pay with a card. But they do have an ATM in the lobby but I had to transfer money in order to take money out. Thank goodness I was even able to do that or I don't know what I would have done.
Had a great time. We brought our own boat and the hotel owners were more than happy to help us find the fish and let us know what they were biting on. After all the great days of fishing catch salmon, halibut, and cod it was great to go to the pub and look out over the water - very relaxing. Karaoke night was fun with Len ( that man can sing!) and my mom even got up and sang! Very comfy atmosphere. Went for a hike at Bere Point one afternoon the scenery was spectacular, although the resident whales didn't make an appearance it was all good though there was still lots to take in. The beds in the room were comfy and I just sank into them. We had a great time. Thank you we will be back soon!
The hotel is easily reached by ferry and we had a great room with a view and a kitchenette. There is a newly opened cafe that came in handy. We enjoyed the pub in the evening with our family. Fishing was great, we were very lucky.. Randy's fishing charters had everyone up early and out catching fish and having so much fun. Planning our next trip for August..... I want to catch some sockeye! This is the perfect place to get away from it all. thumbs up.
