Destination: Dreamland! Wood. Rock. Water.Glass. Love. It all started in 1998. It was at the end of the summer, when Dimitris and Vivian, were leaving Santorini, after their first vacation together on the island, that a big and bright idea struck his mind; Vivian was the love of his life, he had to marry her. Yes! Vivian said yes and together kept hoping on the same boat to Santorini, again and again, together. Their own paradise, destination: Dreamland! All villas & Suites are fully Autonomous and bio climatic. Minimal design with traditional twists all with "en suite" terrace and pool.

"The Land of Desire" or "Desiterra" leaves little to be desired since it has managed to get pretty much everything right. The complex itself is great, the cleanliness and service very good, the food also, and everything has been built tastefully and with attention to detail. There is a small, functional gym on site. I spent almost two weeks in this place earlier this summer and had a quiet, relaxing time, which is what I was after. The hotel is very dog friendly, which I very much appreciated since I was travelling with my dog. Staff work around the clock to make sure that you have a lovely stay. Breakfast is à la carte, rather than buffet, which makes sense for a relatively small place (I think there are 25 suites in total), but there is plenty of choice. My only issue is that the resort is literally in the middle of nowhere and there are absolutely no walks around the hotel, for you or your dog. You need to rent a car or resort to daily transfers (expect to pay €20 plus, each way) if you want to go somewhere where you can buy water, an ice cream or just explore the rest of the island. Otherwise you can just stay in your suite, enjoy your private swimming pool and let the hotel organise everything for you! If you are looking for a haven of peace on Santorini, look no further: Desiterra is the place you need.

Wow where to begin, we were met by our driver Nic at the airport, he remained our diver for the whole trip always with a smile & never letting us touch a bag. When we arrived at Desiterra the girls at Reception were warm, knowledgeable and helpful, immediately setting us up on the WhatsApp for the resort (a 24 hour service that was incredible with anything you need or want done to a high standard and efficiently.) We were then Shown to our villa with it’s own private pool and sea views. When we stepped in the door our bags were already awaiting us, it was honestly breathtakingly beautiful. It was bright, cosy and warm with traditional Santorini aesthetic perfect for Instagram photos, we where in love with our home for the week. The next morning we went down to the restaurant for breakfast which overlooks the sea (wow), the food we had then, for lunch and for dinner was beautiful, their lamb is out of this world! Here, is where we were met George who would be our waiter for the week and later that day Harris, the bartender to say that these two people helped make our holiday is an understatement, they were more like friends by the end of the week. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner & this wife, who are so passionate about the standard of service and care given to all who work and stay with them.
We honestly can’t wait to go back.

We went to Desiterra Resort, Santorini during Easter break this year
and undoubtedly it was our best stay so far. Their standards on
hospitality were so high. Each and every staff member was always
cheerful and very helpful.

The resort is in a very nice quiet location, spreaded on larger area,
very clean and had everything you need for a relaxing amazing holiday.
Their villas are awesome with private pools, beautifully decorated and
super clean. We had amazing sea side sunrise view from the bedroom
that we will never forget.

Being there with our kid it was a best place to stay. Being vegetarian
chef made sure we get a lot of varieties of delicious food in
breakfast. We are so impressed with the place as well as their
hospitality. We really wish to go there again and again. If there
could be more than 5 stars we would definitely give them. Keep up the
good work Desiterra team and thank you for making our holiday so
memorable.

I highly recommend Desiterra for any age group stay. Feel everything was excellent at this place.

We have just arrived back from a 4 day stay at Desiterra as a family and what an amazing time we had!

The staff are amazing and where excellent with our toddler and with myself (being almost 7 months pregnant). Nothing was ever too much and even with the hotel having no kids menu, the staff still accommodated for our little boy with pastas and foods that were not on the menu. We also loved the Greek night and Jazz night!

The location was perfect! We live in a very busy Dubai so the peace and a quiet location was just what we needed. Nothing is too far in Santorini and everywhere is drivable! We would hire a car next time though but the hotel taxi service was always there to take us wherever we wanted to go. We stayed in a 2 bed villa (saffron gatherers) and it really was lovely, pretty decor and secluded but we also enjoyed going down by the main pool in the afternoon.

The hotel staff will arrange anything you need and are very prompt with their response! We would recommend this hotel to anyone!

We stayed at Dessitera for four days during August and the place proved to be even better than expected! It is ideal for couples for relaxing, since the location is very close from Fyra but quiet enough to relax and enjoy privacy and pleasure. The most important asset of Dessitera though is hospitality and kindness of its people from the owners to the reception, that they really do their best to serve you and offer a unique stay. Thank you so much, you deserve five stars for the whole experience!

Incredibly customer service, impeccably clean room & beautiful villa. Before we even arrived in Santorini, the customer service was second to none. Maria organised a taxi airport transfer which was super efficient and comfortable. Maria then proceeded to take care of us for the whole stay offering great advice for restaurants, bars, breakfast spots and places to visit as well as sorting transfers and organising reservations for day trips, restaurant bookings and taxi bookings. Nothing was too much to ask and she always had a big smile on her face making us feel super welcome and comfortable to ask for advice. Without Maria’s advice, our stay wouldn’t have been so special in Santorini. We used the gym on quite a few occasions too, which was very clean and although quite basic, perfect for doing maintenance workouts. The on site food was delicious. Recommend the pork and rice! The rom was kept super clean, and the two girls who looked after our room were so friendly and smiley and always went the extra mile. Thank you for such a wonderful two week stay. We want to come back already! Ana and Tom

We had a WONDERFUL stay at Desiterra! Our booking included airport transfer, which was helpful because it's located in kind of a remote area on the island. I would suggest renting a car to get around as the hotel transfers or cabs are expensive and can take awhile.

The staff at Desiterra really made our stay. Flora and Maria Elena in Reception, as well as the restaurant and bar staff, were all so friendly and warm, and it made it really hard to leave. The resort is somewhat small, which makes for an intimate experience. The staff learns your order and preferences really quickly and provide really helpful suggestions and guidance. The bar tender was even kind enough to give us a lesson on how to make a freddo cappuccino (his was the best we had in Greece). Maria Elena helped us secure dinner reservations at popular scenic restaurants, which was so helpful.

The room was fantastic!! The bed was so comfortable, the shower was sleek, and the private plunge pool and patio made it so hard to leave. The room was spacious, with two sitting areas, a patio and a kitchenette. They provide you with two bottles of water for the first day, but there is a cost for additional water after.

Breakfast is a la carte, but you can order two choices, and you get two coffees and one juice per person. The hotel also has an agreement with a beach club, so you can get chairs there for a change of scenery.

We wished we could have stayed longer and would love to come back again.

Wow. Superb hotel, very large and tasteful villas which is a rare thing for santorini. Great taste and personalized service. Their restaurant had the best food of our stay. It was low key, homemade , traditional flavors with fresh ingredients. Try their trahana for breakfast. In this era where space is prized this place is a gem. Also the location is very close to the town less than 5-10min.

Booked last minute as COVID restrictions were lifted and we were not disappointed. Lovely quiet resort set away from Thira but easily enough to commute around the island to Old Thira or Oia. We opted for bed and breakfast as wanted to enjoy the local cuisine and the hotel recommendations for places to eat were spot on! Metaxi mas was one of our favourites but we also enjoyed Karma and Argo. Staff were very helpful and were always on call via reception or the whats app group! They also organised a amazing boat trip around the island which gives you a different perspective to the island and a wine tasting evening in a local vineyard. All in all a fantastic break with a beautiful sunrise each morning . Thank you. The Saffron Gatherers . We will miss Saffy the cat

What is the going rate for a taxi to/from Fira and Oia? Also, when does the hotel dining shut down?

I would reconsider going to this place. My review of my vacation last week will be online soon. Of course, if everything goes well you will have a blast here. But once something goes wrong your screwed. A good company will be recognized by how they solve issues. Well, this resort does not solve anything. They just pull up their shoulders and that's it.

Hi we have breakfast in full , restaurant all day , pool bar with all snacks . Plenary of food Best regards Vivian
Answer from Dylan P
Hi! I stayed at Desiterra last week and it was a beautiful place which is secluded yet so close to town. We used transfers to get to Fira and Oia that the hotel people were so nice to book for us. The location is great because it’s so close to everywhere (since it is in the middle of the island) yet far away enough from the fussiness and loudness of the town. Also the reservations office was so kind as to arrange pick up for us from the airport and the reception was so helpful and told us where to find the best restaurants, supermarkets and proposed extremely fun activities!
