The only positive things, the place is pet friendly. I did not have a good experience because they overcharged my bill, problems of returning my money, after various attempts. We wanted to come back to get the money refund and have our last walk, but we were not allow to have a walk if we were not willing to pay another $25 per person either for a meal or for a walk. So, they did an online transfer. I would not recommend this place to friends.

Dear MalikGrie, We are shocked to read that "The only positive things, the place is pet friendly" after you spend 5 hours in Hacienda Jimenita, ate everything that was on your dish for lunch, and when we asked you how was your experience "it was wonderful", and you wanted to return to have a photoshoot in our place to boost your Instagram profile. We have work for 30 years to get the canyon back, to create a bird sanctuary for over 90 different species of birds. It's a shame that you don't value the effort for preserving nature. If there was a problem with your bill it was an honest mistake, and we always give our customers the option of a refund if possible by wiring the funds or by extending a credit line. We are sorry to read that you wanted the entrance fee to our private reserve to be free so you can have a photoshoot. We are a boutique Hacienda that has a limited capacity of 60 persons, even when we have 18 acres of land and open spaces that you enjoyed with your friend and dogs.

La Jimenita has been one of the best travel experiences I have had anywhere. Daniel Cruz and his family have created an exotic home away from home on this lovely property. Everything is designed to take advantage of the surrounding richness of nature. We spent two days here and enjoyed every aspect from rooms to food to walks on the extensive property to Frenchy bulldogs Fares and Maia. Excursions to Antisana and hot springs included Andean Condor sightings and horseback riding. Everything was delivered with personal attention and expert guiding. Ecuador is a beautiful country and La Jimenita is a jewel that should not be missed.

Hello Tom, We thank you for taking time and writing about your experience here at the Jimenita. We are sorry to hear about the cancellation of your Galapagos Cruise, but still, you were able to enjoy a little bit of Ecuador and see its magic. It was a pleasure getting to know your amazing family and we hope you can make your Galapagos cruise trip with your granddaughter in the near future. You are always welcome here at the Jimenita. Wow, this place exceeded all of my expectations. The “leave as a friend” line on their website is spot on. I joked with Daniel, the owner, that they all seemed like family midway into my stay there. I had the best week at the hacienda, my room was large and beautiful as were the grounds. Food was excellent and I loved breakfast among the hummingbirds. Definitely take advantage of the tours, birding and the tunnel were breathtaking. Service was amazing, the warmth & positivity of the owners is reflected in their staff. I did a day tour with Daniel to Yanacocha with a quick tour of Quito on our way back. He even helped me with a quick emergency orthodontist appointment in town. I highly recommend Yanacocha - it’s such a neat hike and Daniel is great company. I can say the same for Emilio & Simona too, I loved chatting with them. Forrest and Maya (the frenchies) are adorable, well-behaved, and make this place even more like a dream home. I can’t wait to return!

We spent several nights here Jan/Feb. Buildings and grounds lovely but all menu prices for food and drinks subject to 10% service and 12% VAT in very small print! Cheapest bottle of Chilean wine which was very ordinary cost nearly US$40 which is outrageous when similar quality in other hotels in Ecuador were $15-25 including all extras. Beware to read the details on all menus. The hacienda lies RIGHT under the flight path so aircraft noise is extremely loud all day and until very late at night. Also dogs barking much of the night disturbs sleep. We hated having to put used toilet paper in an OPEN bin next to the toilet. Yuk.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking a time and writing about your experience during your stay with us. Since we are a patrimonial and arqueological site of Quito and we are a 110 years old Hacienda located in the country side of Quito we do have certain restrictions like throwing used toilet paper down the toilet. We do this because we are not connected to the sewage water, since they end up polluting the river. We are conscious that it might be strange for you, thats why we change it everyday. We are sorry for this, but due to the fact that Quito doesnt have a water treatment plant, and our only option is to have our own septic tank and unfortunately its not able to deal with used toilet paper we ask for our guests help to do not throw the used toilet paper down the toilet. Since we are just 15 minutes away same as many Haciendas in the country side of Quito, we hear ocasionally airplanes noice. We are thankful that Quitos Airport is not so busy and we dont have so many flight as other airports in the world. Theres nothing we can do about it, its something that is out of our hands, we were affected by the relocation of the International Airport Mariscal Sucre. We are sorry to hear that you felt that our menu had that all values are subject to 10% service fee and 12% VAT. Weve never had any problems with that, since its in the same size as the rest of the menu but in cursive so people can distinguish. We will look into it to make sure its more clearer. We are glad to hear you and your husband enjoy our wildlife reserve, specially with all the unique birds you where able to spot. Best regards, Emilio Cruz
