Detailed Reviews
I’ve been coming to this campground for over 20 years. A few things have changed, but you’ve always gotten the great service, large campsites and privacy. There is always plenty to do they try to make your stay as enjoyable as you want it very close to all amenities, grocery store, liquor, store, pharmacy, etc. looking forward to camping again the end of June and 1 July.

Stayed Natal Day - long weekend July 30 , Aug 1st. Huge campground ( an old golf course ). The office and rec hall should have been first signs of neglect ; old farm buildings that are sagging and needs to be freshened up. We stayed on the far side of campground- across river. Now being a long weekend and an old golf course , they should've cut the grass shorter. It was quite long. The picnic tables are falling apart, paint flaking off and many unsafe to use. Our firepit was an old rim on grass, no gravel or blocks to air flow. The sites in our area are non-descript, not knowing where to park for your site, no pads to outline your area. The driveways are potholed throughout entire campground. These are little , inexpensive fixes that would make a huge difference . There is a pool- didn't use it - kids were enjoying it though. There are outhouses and porta-johnnies in a few different areas. The main washrooms and showers should be torn down and rebuilt. Men's room was terrible. The showers are paid - no problem - but - whomever the carpenter was who built them should be taken out to pasture. Its not that they weren't clean, it's they need reconstruction to square things up and some paint to freshen it up. They had long weekend activities - poker run, adult bingo, bike rentals ( $2 /hr. or $10/day ), pool.
I may seem to be complaining about little things, but those little things are easily fixable to give guests a better, more comfortable stay.

I just purchased an RV and brought it over for trial run at this campground for 1 week. This is a well-maintained campground. They have put thought into many aspects of it. Nice large pool, clean bathrooms, large showers, laundry facilities. Lots of area to do daily walks, ejoy the turtles on the river. Staff are awesome and extremely helpful. I have very much enjoyed my stay here and contemplating booking for a full season next year. Come and check it out you will be pleasantly surprised. Thanks Randy, Stoney, Kayden for making my visit enjoyable.

We have been seasonal campers here for over 5 yrs now and enjoyed every minute of it and we will be back again this year. Yes, last year the campground flooded but who could have predicted Mother Nature's wrath. We were made aware that this area does flood when we first started coming here and still, we come every year. After the waters receded, the owners and staff were right at it working hard and tirelessly cleaning it up and Randy was working hard at rebuilding the berm to make it even stronger. The campground was reopened two weeks later like nothing had happened. You need to remember; they lost a lot as well along with our trailers and here we are coming back again for another year without hesitation.
The grounds are very nice and grassy, and the sites are huge and spacious and with everything you need. A lot of places to walk your pets, biking and a lot of wildlife (porcupine, turtles and deer) to see. It has a peaceful friendly atmosphere and a lot of new people to meet and to hang out with.
Yes, the campground is on the older side, but the owners and staff have been upgrading a lot, with stronger WIFI, new picnic tables, sewage system and repairs to the older buildings.
The owners and staff are awesome, friendly and are always helping out if you need it, they are nonstop.
There are activities every weekend and if you cannot find something to do, walk around to other camp sites as you are always welcomed to play washer toss, corn hole, and other games. Or at night, come to one of the campfires, and sit around and listen to some music, guitars playing and hear some campfire stories and have a lot of laughs.
That is what camping is all about!
See you soon Renfrew Campground

This campground floods. Any big rain and the river overflows its banks. In summer 2023 the whole campground flooded, destroying many trailers beyond repair. The owners and management did nothing, showed absolute disregard for their campers. The allowed people to unknowingly use the pool that had been polluted with sewage, and they refused to make any repairs so campers could continue to use the campground as advertised. They also refused to refund any of the paid fees for campers who lost their trailers. Their septic system was not installed properly and you can smell sewage every time it rains. Go elsewhere. Don't even consider Renfrew Camping. It should be shut down as a health hazard.

There is really no other way to describe this place other than run down. The main office area building was borderline condemned. It is literally falling apart. They say there is wifi at the office but it hardly worked. (One bar if you’re lucky). The biggest issue for me was the bathroom. They were absolutely disgusting. The building needs serious updates. It was not cleaned enough especially during a pandemic. The showers had dirt and dead bugs everywhere. The shower curtains were moldy. I felt dirty as soon as I stepped out of the shower. On one of the bathrooms that had a sliding door there is no lock. It is not accessible at all for those in wheelchairs. I gave it 2 stars for the pool because the kids had fun in it. The lovely lady that did the bingo for the kids was very sweet and made it fun for everyone.

The place is pretty run down. Basketball court is overgrown with crap. Volleyball court is half ants, grass and rocks, the picnic tables are rotting apart. There is a smell of sewage smell every 15 minutes that is horrible. The store is falling down. The grass is 3 inches long on the tent sites. And Ants nest that are massive. Won't be back

My grandchildren and step children grew up at this campground. The owners Brenda and Randy do an amazing job making this a great summer home. The neighbors we had there are best friends today outside the campground. Going here in the summer time was like coming to your other family. I don't think there was a person or child that came there that Brenda didn't remember their name. One of the highlights to this campground is the wagon ride Randy takes everyone on and you get to see the whole campground. Judy and her granddaughter who work there also know everyone and do stuff with the kids. I would recommend this campground to anyone that wants a nice weekend away that is still close enough to the city that you don't have a long drive to get there. It's quiet and not over crowded.

Thanks for your inquiry, yes Renfrew Camping is great for canoeing & kayaking as the beautiful Nine Mile River winds through part of the campground. Campers are welcome to bring their own canoes & kayaks, and can easily put them in the water at our Riverside swimming hole. Visitors also enjoy tubing, rafting and of course, fishing too!
