Paul and Annelies have built a unique set of cabins in a secluded and picturesque setting near Whitewater ski resort and the beautiful town of Nelson. Our experience over five days, including New Year's Eve, exceeded our expectations. Everything was absolutely magical. We highly recommend you come to this outstanding paradise.

The cabins are very quaint and well appointed, with comfortable beds and luxurious linens. Each cabin has a similar layout: the main floor has an open space concept with kitchen, living and dining area, wood burning fireplace, one smaller bedroom and a powder room. The upper floor has one bedroom and a bathroom with tub, shower and sink (no toilet upstairs).

Paul is always around making sure everything is going well. He is very friendly and helpful. He made the arrangements for our ski tickets and made suggestions on what to do and where to go.

The skiing at Whitewater is fantastic and so are the snowshoeing trails nearby. The highlight of our stay was the New Year's Eve event. Neighbours and guests were treated to mulled wine, champagne, fireworks and a spectacular bonfire. Paul and Annelies were fantastic hosts and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

Dear Deborah, Thanks so much for taking the time to write us such a lengthy, detailed and lovely review! And yes, although we certainly strive to make everyone feel at home here, you and your family made it all too easy...:) It was a genuinely pleasure to meet you all, spend some time with you and be witness to you enjoying the place. Hopefully we'll have a chance to see you here again one day, and if not, we'll certainly treasure the memories of ringing in the New Year together. Thanks again for seeking us out and wishing you all well. Warmest regards, Paul & Annelies

My partner and I stayed here and it was exactly what we were looking for, the perfect mix of old and new. The cabin we were in was an old hunting lodge with almost all of the wood being re-purposed, it made for a really cool look. With that being said the bathrooms and kitchen all had modern plumbing and electrical and everything was VERY clean and private. The host was very nice and even let us borrow his snowshoes when I mentioned off-hand that we could not find any. If I am ever in the area again I will absolutely stay here again.

Logden Lodge is a magical haven amidst stunning, rugged nature with so many great outdoor opportunities. We appreciated every thoughtful and tastefully chosen detail inside and out, from the beautiful rustic wood to the super comfortable & chic bed linens. Not to mention the abundant supply of chopped & stacked wood to help make the evenings cozy. It felt as if we steeped ourselves in another world all together. We reemerged energized and inspired. Our dog was protesting our leaving ;) The owners / hosts are very gracious and kind. Truly an unforgettable experience!

We stayed here with our two dogs and 9 month old baby. It was comfortable, clean and cozy. The hosts were kind and so helpful.

We honestly had the best time and our baby miraculous slept 12 hours through the night. It was a peaceful stay and we loved the wood-burning stove and bbq.

Highly recommend visiting.

They had some games for playing, the kitchen was stocked with pots, pans and utensils, the bathroom robes and slippers were such a nice touch and the beds were so comfy.

Logden Lodge is a gem. We visited in late May and although the weather was chillier and rainier than normal for this time of year, we were very comfortable in our gorgeous and well-appointed log cabin. The log stove kept us warm, and we were able to curl up and relax - - or walk the trails on the property and find the delightful surprises there. We were able to cook our meals as the kitchen featured everything we needed. Every last detail was well thought out.

This was the perfect getaway for my wife and me to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We cooked in the kitchenette, but also drive a short distance into Nelson and had great food at the local eateries. It wasn't really cold enough to have a fire in the wood stove, but we'll just have to return in winter with a couple feet of snow and really unwind again. Paul and Anneliese were the consummate hosts - we're so glad we discovered (and drove the scenic seven hours from Abbotsford) to spend a week in the Kootenays!

The owners were lovely! Admittedly upon arrival my kids were wondering where the heck we were (Ymir is a small town!)...but it ended up that we were exactly where we were meant to be. My 2 boys (11 & 15) ended up enjoying the peace & quiet...playing music, doing a great (& difficult) puzzle, enjoying meals together (the kitchen was well stocked with essentials for cooking & the yummy hot chocolate provided was a nice touch!)
My 11 year old brought his skateboard on the trip & was able to learn how to “drop in” at the Ymir skatepark (it’s small but perfect for newbies!) Nelson was a short & scenic drive. Check out the DragonFly cafe in Salmo, BC too! Highly recommend Logden Lodge! 💫💫💫

My daughter and I and our two labs spent 4 nights in the Heritage Cabin; we read outside on the porch, walked the property to the Lookout with it's little surprise waiting, had a cozy fire every night, toured around Ymir and Nelson, and walked along the River. This property makes a great base camp from which to ski, golf mountain bike, hike or simply enjoy the peace and finish a book cover to cover. . The beds are super comfortable, shower and bathtub are luxurious and kitchen is large enough to cook a nice meal. Very friendly hosts with helpful suggestions and rides for our luggage from the parking area up to the cabin. The cabins are the product of a turn towards an authentic and sustainable lifestyle for the owners and respect for the environment is the theme in this property. Inspiring!

We stayed in the Gold Cup cabin. It exceeded our expectations. From decor to the rustic charm...It is beautiful. Had everything you will need to be comfortable. Nestled right in the mountain. We rented snowshoes and went for hikes everyday. The air was so fresh with the pine scent. Quiet and peaceful. We spent a lot of time just sitting my the fireplace, watching the logs burns and sipping wine. We originally booked 3 nights and extended another night because we loved being there. Great place to just destress, relax, unwine and take in mother nature. I highly recommend. Thank you to Paul and Annelies for sharing this paradise. We are already making plans to come back.

Our family of four look forward to returning yearly during ski season. We enjoy Whitewater and Nelson, but I believe our children would spend their entire stay at the cabin if they were allowed. Paul and Annelies are the best hosts and create a remote cabin in the woods feel while providing for all of our needs. I can only imagine how much fun this area is in the summer time while enjoying Logden Lodge!

Mathew hi, many thanks for taking the time to leave us a review here, and such a nice one too! We certainly look forward to you all returning every year as well. Seeing the kids squeezing every last minute out of the day to build, dig, ski and sled some more is truly a joy to watch and makes our day without fail. Perhaps 'till summer then, we've indeed little doubt our neck of the woods won't disappoint! Until we meet again, very best wishes, Paul & Annelies

rachel k asked a question Jul 2022
Edmonton, Canada
Do the rooms have air conditioning or fans?
Answer from logdenlodge
Hi there, thanks for asking. No air conditioning but they all come with both a ceiling and portable fan. That said, the cabins are really well insulated which keeps the heat out and allows for a steady indoor temperature below 20C even when it's well above 30C during the day. Hope that helps.
Answer from logdenlodge
Abaynham hello. Many thanks for your interest in our Lodge and your question. The cabins stand approximately 50 m apart, far enough to offer complete privacy but close enough to walk when booked together for a larger group. As for the wildlife, there is definitely plenty out here, one just always need a bit of luck to get to encounter some. We do keep track of our wildlife spotting on our property; last summer we had 17 bear visits ( incl. one grizzly), and regular sightings of whitetail deer, coyotes and the occasional mule deer. Elk and Moose are usually to be seen only at higher elevation but with some luck you may spot one during a hike. Lastly we were three times lucky enough to have a pack of wolves in our yard, a rare event. Hope this igives some indication, just let us know if there is anything else we can be of help with. With best regards, Paul
