This is one amazing place! The busy working farm has been in the family for over two hundred years so history abounds. We were a group of two couples and shared Hart Cottage which was the original house built by the same family in 1817. Being from Australia it was so a wonderful to stay in such an old place....

If you love animals you will love lambing season. The Brown family took us out to the pasture where they were counting the new little lambs born during the night while their granddaughter picked them up and played with them like stuffed toys. One of the earliest farming families in this region in South Africa, the Browns gave us an...

In my next life, I would like to live at Glen Avon. We stayed at the lovely Pecan cottage with our 2 year old. It was a peaceful and relaxing break and we will definately return. Alison's garden is exquisite! We had refreshing swims in the pool and loved the breakfasts and dinners. We went on long walks and did...

We spent four nights at Hart Cottage. We went on the Intake Walk and to the top of the mountain and otherwise spent a lot of time in the front yard just staking out various birds. We had fresh milk from the farm, tried Alison’s brown bread and two different jams, and fell in love with her pecan rusks. The...

Staying 2 nights at Glen Avon was a treat. We didn't do much, only a short break to the Somerset East Museum. Sitting in front of the cottage under a big fig tree enjoying the view, spotting birds, giving the friendly dogs a pat. And enjoying the excellent dinner and breakfast that Allison served us. Really fresh veggies. But if...

This is the perfect spot to escape to a farm away from city life. Great farm hospitality, great food, comfortable accommodation, fresh air, the sound of animals and birds, natural surroundings, lots of history and best of all, peace with no rush at all. If you are looking for big city modern and luxury then this isn't for you. If...

We stayed at Glen Avon on our way from Natal to George. We travelled by motor bike and the day had been a long one. But arriving at Glen Avon was a treat. The fridge was already stocked with cold beers and cold drinks including fresh milk for tea and coffee. Rusks, Jams and fire wood can be purchased. They...

This is our idea of heaven especially with our 2 year old. The farm is in a stunning location surrounded by mountains that you can either admire or trek into. There are two cottages a field apart, each with a feeling of seclusion. We stayed in Pecan Cottage and much to our two year old's delight the sheep were in...

Glen Avon is a working sheep farm a bit off the beaten track but well worth the visit. I had stayed here two yesrs before when my son and i did a road trip. We "stumbled upon" this gem of a guest accomodation on a working sheep farm purely by accident. When my wife and were on a hectic business...
