One of the most beautifully campgrounds we ever were. Nice lots, large and privat. The campground is arranged very lovingly. We enjoyed the nice path to the beach, the sound of the Little River, the sunset in the evening and the kindness of the owner, Nancy and Sam.

Best campground hands down. It’s super clean, lots of space between trailers. Beautiful washrooms. Great deck with Muskoka chairs looking over the ocean. They have thought of everything a camper loves. Can’t say enough about this beautiful place.

This is not a KOA. Which was perfect for us because we came to the east coast to experience the natural beauty of the land, sea & people. Sam & Nancy have embodied that here with a wonderfully designed campground maintaining natural elements while having very large, usable campsites, custom firepit enclosures, unique central lighthouse pit toilet, immaculately keep, clean modern washrooms and showers. At end of a short walk to the river or shoreline you are greeted with spectacular views. The wide trail to shore leads to a seaside deck and comfortable chairs to relax and breath in the sea air, listen to sea-land sounds and the ocean view, well, you have to be there.

Born and raised in Cape Breton, I have spent many nights camping. It was only natural for my husband and I to purchase and pack up our very own trailer with our two girls 13 years ago. We never feel the need to leave this beautiful island and of course have visited most of the campgrounds over and over again. The friendships, time spent with family and the endless memories really brings out heart filling emotions. The effort put forth by all the campgrounds to make each camper feel comfortable and welcome is overwhelming. With of course great attention to detail for the kids to live their best lives. However this is greatly lacking at Avoca Birches . Our group of girls were constantly scolded. Unwelcome to play in the woods and told they were too loud hours before quiet time. As for the adults, feeling like your every move was being watched, uncomfortable and self conscious. This campground does not feel inviting to locals or children. So I’ll cross this one of the list of places to visit. The home of our hearts, Cape Breton…

Campground itself is beautiful and immaculate. Only 5 full serviced lots and the remainder unserviced. Lots are huge and level, beautiful firepits on every site. However I feel this campground caters to tourists as a nice spot to stay overnight while travelling and would be very nice for that. We went with a group of families and the campground is not kid friendly, there are no playgrounds or play area for children and we were even told they are allowed to play outside on the lot we paid for, not welcomed to play in the wooded areas or roam the property. We did not feel welcome and wont be returning. The kids were shut down from playing outside before quiet time. Two nights for an rv lot cost $145, which is the most we have paid.

Private access to the ocean with a well equipped deck, large campsites, The largest we’ve seen in 1 month of travel, immaculate upkeep, clean new washrooms and some of the nicest shower stalls I’ve seen in any campground…ever! Sam and Nancy were very friendly, and checked with us each day if there was anything they could do for us. I think this is the best run RV park/Campground I’ve ever experienced! Highly recommend this gem.

We travelled from Ontario and stayed at several sites as we visited the east coast and this campground was by far our favorite place to stay. The owners are wonderful and will greet you as you enter the campground which boasts large, level sites with a picnic table and fire pit. It was easy to pull in and park our large 30ft trailer. There is a beautiful beach for swimming as well as a nice deck with chairs to just sit and watch the sun rise/set. The portable washroom/showers are kept clean and look like your washroom at home! I didn’t bother to use our trailer washroom because these were so nice. The campground is at the start of the Cabot trail on the east side and has several local artisan shops within minutes. We loved our visit and cannot wait to return and stay longer next time.…

We spent a weekend and did not want to leave. A private ocean beach, warm waters, large lots, incredible and accommodating owners. The space is beautiful, so many little things that put this place above the rest.
