My wife and I had a great stay at the Clarence Protea hotel. The staff were really excellent. They the staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect The rooms facing the mountains are comfortable and relaxing. Well laid out. We loved the balcony attached to the room The general feel to the hotel is very relaxing... More

What a neat little hotel with great friendly staff. On a Ferrari owners trip, 50 cars were accommodated with ease. Food was pretty average and the bedrooms comfortable and clean. My only difficulty was that the air conditioners were not able to be programmed and we froze our butts off, even though we asked for extra blankets. Geographically the area... More

We were pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful hotel this is. The "curb appeal" isn't great, but the interior is quite beautiful. Everything appears to be very new. The linens and towels were great as was the bed. Staff were very helpful in every way. We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. All of the shopping is within a 1-4 minute... More

This really is a lovely hotel. Beautifully decorated and the pool area is stunning. Our room was very comfortable but a little small and the maintenance needs work. Great location as you can walk everywhere.

This beautiful hotel is nestled in the heart of Clarens within walking distance of all the shops and businesses. It has an excellent buffet breakfast, one of the best I have ever had. This is a five star hotel but seem cozy and feel like home.

The hotel is modern, stylish, yet warm and inviting. Nice fireplaces in the lounge a must for a Clarens winter stay. Very well located and within walking distance of everything in the quaint artsy town of Clarens. The room was not spacious bit very well laid out and well kept. Nice huge bed, enough cupboard space and drawers for a... More

The hotel has good location but Clarens is a small quaint town so no one can get really lost in there. The hotel itself is decent but for that price, the standard room was small and does not have a very inviting feel to it. Strangely the shower was in an enclosed cubicle separated from the toilet, which is a... More

Dear mscarlos2180 Thank you for sharing your review with us of your recent visit to Clarens. The architectural design of the rooms was to open up the space to allow for more natural light in the rooms, and to create more space in the rooms. The toilet is separate for additional privacy. Clarens has breathtaking views and the natural splendor... More

Good things first...the Protea Hotel is clean and seems to be well maintained. But the staff is not very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was average and breakfast room was overcrowded. All in all overpriced and overrated.
