As in my title, this guesthouse is difficult to review. On one hand it is a totally unique situation. A stay here offers the opportunity to observe the sun set on Everest and then watch sunrise. When my wife and I wandered out of the room at 5:00 AM because we could no longer stand to remain there, we were...

We spent one night here in a twin room which had heating pads on the bed and two duvets each. Bring a sleeping bag and lots of base layers as its freezing at night. No radiators so the air is very cold in the room, try to sleep with your mouth covered so you dont breath in the cold air...

There's no way I can rank this higher than one star, even though we didn't regret staying here. While some of the rooms are larger, ours was only big enough to accommodate two twin beds with maybe a two feet of space at the end of them to walk in. (We were glad we left our carry-on suitcases in the...

Compare with those tent located at the Base Camp, here is excellent. Guest room is good. Twin beds with 2 comforters and one extra electric blanket. It's really warm enough at mid-night. If the weather is good, you can easy to take photo when sunset and sunrise at Mt. Everest and the milky way.... It's beautiful. We have dinner and...

As others have said , its location location location that provides the winner here. Accomodation itself is basic, restaurant food is good but smoking allowed in restaurant ( almost a requirement ) and combined with the smoky stove can lead to a high level of discomfort/coughing fits. Use your own sleeping bag if you can. The toilets are..... deplorable and...

We shared a room with another couple, we had a clear beautiful evening and a full moon, what else can you ask for? Make sure you bring good thermals and thick cloths so your can enjoy nature at its best, food was decent at the restaurant unfortunately smoking in allowed there and seems in China smoking is a must for...

This is a difficult place to rate because it doesn't really conform to any sort of regular standard that one might consider when booking a room. On the one hand, the conditions are rather deplorable in that it appears as though nothing has ever been washed. I can't say for sure, but I suspect the blankets just get re-used without...

It is the only guesthouses during our visit as the tent guesthouses are only available during the tourist season, then there is an Everest view hotel not far from this guesthouse but not much difference except the huge cost differences. Rooms are bit cold and the guesthouse dinning rooms is warmer with the Tibetan stove. Anyhow good experiences and recommended...

We have been staying here in december 2015, low season and very cold. So we were the only ones there and we got a real VIP treatment. The food was awesome! The rooms were very basic but reasonably clean. When staying here, always be prepared for the cold! We brought our own sleeping bags (always do that when you are...

“If you are like me and frequent the bathroom at night, try and get a room close to the only bathroom in the entire lodge. It is a very basic washroom and come with any and all toiletries you require including toilet roll.”
