Nice location but most year this seems as an unstaffed location. If you run into a problem past 7pm you will be connected to another remote location with just “yes or no”type of answers. These locations seem to be only staffed by warm bodies with strong accents. Most answers are “I’m sorry”.. and the calls end in “have a good one”.. Good luck if you end up needing security at night. For safety reasons unless you are here with a group/family I would not recommend single occupants staying here.
The room was very clean, had a good layout and the view was excellent!!. The hotel staff was very helpful. The only recommendation that I would make is to have the continental breakfast started earlier than 9 a.m.
We got the honeymoon suite for our anniversary. Upon arriving we noticed MANY flying beetles. We tried to be okay with it but we could not sleep there. We checked out and staff did not find new accommodations.
Super clean rooms, friendly staff, relaxed vibe and close to everything while being a bit private. Great view of the lake too! My husband and I enjoyed the Kaslo River Trail and Fletcher Falls during the day and loved coming back to our air conditioned room and ordering some delicious food from the golf course a short drive away. We were able to keep a stock of food in the room fridge as well so we did not need to eat out for every meal. We really enjoyed our time.
I stayed here after spending a big day hiking in nearby provincial parks and found it to be such a spectacular stay. Each room has a commanding view over the lake and in summer, you get that stunning 6am sunrise. Service is ok, but quite understaffed with what seemed like just one guy checking people in, doing housekeeping, watering the grass---nicest guy, but geesh---looks like he could use some backup. Hard to get in touch after hours with him so, I guess, plan on being somewhat self sufficient. Nearby place to eat in Balfour was excellent with good beer and fish and chips. And Kaslo was a scenic quick drive ot the north. Will definitely explore staying here again when coming to stay in the Nelson Balfour area.
The hotel was clean and the staff nice! The view of the lake was beautiful! However, the complimentary breakfasts are highly limited (1 apple, 1 muffin and 1 granola bar). Also, the water pressure in the showers could’ve been high to make showering more comfortable.
Had a perfect one night stay at this Kootenay gem! Clean rooms, great hot tub with stunning views of the lake. Really close to the Balfour ferry as well as the Dock n Duck Restaurant. Great breakaway from Nelson, highly recommended!
I stayed there over the holidays with my boyfriend and we have a lovely time, it was so beautiful and peaceful with all the fresh snow. Jesse at the front desk was super friendly and he even brought our breakfast bags up to our room for us. We stayed in the suite, which was so spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel was also a very convenient distance from the hot springs in Ainsworth
We stayed here for a handful of nights and have nothing but good things to say about the resort and staff. Margaret the manager was exceptional and made sure we had everything we needed. Breath taking view from the cozy mountain side room. We will be back!
The room is dated and small, defiantly not worth the price. It was very loud between rooms and the quiet time is not enforced. The pictures shown on the website are not accurate. The view was the best thing that came with the stay.
