The Moonraker Hotel, a grade 2 listed 23 bedrooms Manor house situated on the outskirts of Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge and is a 15 minute drive from the Bath Spa. Mentioned in the Domesday book as being part of the Abbess of Glastonbury's estate, the Manor house was originally build in Queen Ann Style before being upgraded in the 17th century to Bath stone. Purchased by Tudor & Lucy Hopkins in July 2013 the hotel has undergone a full refurbishment including transforming the restaurant into a relaxed informal dining space. Our Head Chef and his team has created menus around the hotels kitchen garden and onsite smokery. Nine bee hives provide the hotel honey and rare breed pigs and chickens live on the grounds. The Moonraker oozes old world charm and is a relaxed cotsworld escape with some of the UK's top attractions on its doorstep.

Could be nice- beautiful building and pretty gardens. Staff friendly but the room was filthy - mouldy grouting, dusty spindles, bath panel was about 30 years old and gross. Vintage suitcases as decoration that hadn’t been dusted in months. Filthy ceiling window above the shower with cobwebs and grime. The shower screen was dirty, the shower head and shower hadn’t been wiped for some time and I normally brush my teeth in the shower, not here. Ripped carpet, ripped sofa. All this for £140 on a Monday night without breakfast. The room was massive but I’d rather have a smaller room that isn’t filthy with ripped carpets and furniture, thanks very much. It just really bugs me that I have paid money to stay somewhere that’s dirty and scraggy. You go away to treat yourself. Not to slum it. And this was slumming it. Sounds harsh but why should I pay hard earned money to stay somewhere that clearly says “can’t be bothered”. We complained on check out as we were only there for 1 night and checked in and went out straight away, just dawning on us the following morning what it was like. I hope this and similar reviews give them the nudge they need to up their game as it’s just not acceptable.

Having stayed in a variety of hotels from basic to high end, for £125 a night this is dire, the shower was cold we complained but it wasn’t able to be fixed, the shower over the the bath was leaked all over the floor, the kettle had to be plugged in on the floor, the carpet was dirty, it was dusty, the bedside lights didn’t work and they didn’t have any spare bulbs 😲, dinner was ok but the service was slow, breakfast was slower, toast was cold continental breakfast was unappealing 2 thin slices of melon 2 thin slices of pineapple in fact I just got up an walked out disgusted

Our double aspect superior room was lovely and clean overlooking the courtyard and fields. The bed was large and comfortable but perhaps a new carpet wouldn't come amiss. We found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Full english breakfast freshly cooked and there was a choice of continental breakfast which was served in a tiered stand complete with fresh fruit, yogurt, ham, cheese and of course croissants. A nice touch. The evening meal was exceptional, the menu didn't vary but we tried a different choice each night and they were all equally delicious. Some of the building is 500 years old and that is reflected in the general decor and rooms. I would describe the hotel as quirky but none the worse for it. We would definitely return for another visit if we were in the area.

A two day break with our dog. The Moonraker was a good base to stay at in the Cotswolds, every thing about our short stay was really nice, staff were polite, friendly, and professional. our room was good and the continental breakfast was such a hit it was something to look forward to each day. Also just to add a further point plenty of space to park your cars without having to book prior.

We stayed here for a night and it was a great find. The room we had was fab, roll top bath snd looking out over fields. It was so quiet. I could not fault the young staff. They were obviously short staffed (isn’t everywhere) yet never looked stressed or flustered. We ate in the bar and the food was really good. We had the continental breakfast which was great value. Loved it.
