The 5 guest huts are situated on Motu Avaerahi in the Rangiroa Atoll, which is in the very south of the atoll. You reach paradise by a 60 minutes boat ride from sister hotel Kia Ora on Avatoru. This is the dream of all fans for perfect tropical islands. The Motu is small and you can circle the island within... More

We've been fortunate enough to have traveled to a lot of places, but nothing can come close to comparing to the experience we had at Le Sauvage. First, let me say that this hotel may not be for everyone. If you can't live without electricity, air conditioning, or the internet, you probably won't enjoy yourself. When you arrive, you will... I do not need a lot of words to describe Kia Ora Sauvage. It was everything I dreamed of. Beautiful bungalows. The most impressive thing to me was the absolute quietness, the marvelous nightsky. I dream of going back!

We had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at Sauvage as part of our honeymoon and it left us wishing we had planned for more. The place is just breathtaking and the experience is incomparable. We were very clear about what to expect- no connection with the world, phone or internet, no electricity, no fancy dining but yes stunning and... More

Kia Ora Sauvage review I wanted to avoid big resort hotels in Polynesia and stay off the beaten track, so our knowledgeable travel agent at Custom Tahiti, Jackie Schlumper, recommended Kia Ora Sauvage. Well --- it was so fabulous that I am almost at a loss to try to describe it!!!! This place pretty much fulfills every South Seas fantasy... More

We have been guests of the island for 6 nights, a longer stay than most of the other guests, therefore we had the chance to better appreciate the resorts in all its aspects and with all climates (sun, rain, wind). The resorts consist of only 6 bungalows located in a small motu at 1 hour of fast boat from Kia... More

We stayed overnight at the Village to take the motorboat over in the morning. Daily excursions to the nearby motus are optional and while on one our group discovered a heretofore unknown hotspring as a sudden pinprick storm threatened to chill us to our bones. The black tip reef sharks come at the call of the conch blown to notify... More

This is a special place. Not necessarily for everyone. If you cannot be without your hair dryer or cell phone, stop reading and move on. Kia Ora Sauvage is a true Robinson Crusoe vacation, but high end. The beauty of the place is amazing, and the hosts Michel and his wife Tetua, native polynesians who work for Kia Ora, but... More

We visited Rangiroa 24 years ago, and always wanted to return for the sole purpose of staying at Le Sauvage. We finally made the trip, and we were not disappointed. Our host and hostess Michel and his wife Tetuanui met us at the Kia Ora. After a 45 minute ride across the atoll, we arrived at the island. Yes; it... More

Staying at Le Sauvage is an extremely unique experience. As many have echoed, it is not for everyone. I, however, loved it. We stayed 3 nights here after staying at the Hotel Kia Ora Resort. The journey starts with your transfer from the Kia Ora Resort at 9 AM (transfer from the dock). Only pack what you need for your... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A one hour cruise from the Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa down to the south coast of Rangiroa, takes you to the Avea Rahi motu (islet) where Le Sauvage Private Island greets you in a miniature version of paradise. As soon as you land, the legend of Robinson Crusoe becomes true in a setting of 5 traditional bungalows nestled amid the coconut and palm trees. These bungalows have been built in the purest Polynesian tradition while offering high standard amenities. Precious local materials such as ironwood, woven palms, bamboo, coconut, and local handicraft objects have been tastefully integrated in the design of these bungalows. You will be marveled at the sight of the bathroom with its shellfish curtain, coral tiles, stone washbasin all surrounded by live tropical plants. Indeed, an atmosphere of bliss combined with authenticity awaits you at Le Sauvage Private Island. ... more   less
