The Copamarina Beach Resort & Spa offers a mixed bag of experiences, with guests applauding its tranquil atmosphere and scenic location near idyllic beaches. The grounds and rooms generally receive high marks for cleanliness, and the variety of amenities and activity options are popular among visitors. While the staff is often commended for being friendly, some guests have encountered slow and occasionally unprofessional service. Reviewers frequently comment on the resort's overpriced food and activities, with extra fees diminishing the overall value. Additionally, while rooms are typically clean and refreshed daily, noise and outdated decor have been noted as drawbacks.

Our company retreat was there and i had the pleasure of staying 4 nights in Copamarina and what PARADISE it was! the nature helps of course: peaceful warm water and amazing scenary, BUT, i have to say the staff was amazing, super helpful and always in a good mood! The hotel activities was super fun and diverse. The bedrooms and bathroom comfortable and clean. The pools, the pier, and even the meeting rooms we were at were all great! I'd recommend this hotel for anyone going on vacation and, if you are lucky, on business as well! thanks Copamarina!

Check in was smooth. They shared that we could book a boat to Gillian’s island but then at booking location we were told they weren’t currently doing these tours due to boat maintenance. Lots of excursions and activities but nothing was included and prices were higher than necessary.

Room was cute and clean. Beach is definitely not clear or good for swimming but I came for pool with a view. Lots of seaweed around. Pool and hot tub were nice. Pool by the bar gets dirty quick with trees and sand but the views and ambience make it wonderful. There are a TON of mosquitoes so spray/repellant is a must to enjoy being outside.

Food was good with prices expected for a resort style hotel. Bartenders were super great. Server at restaurant was ok, didn’t attend frequently and had to get up to look for someone to help us.

The housekeeping staff was incredibly rude on our checkout day. We were cleaning and packing up before checkout time and they stood at our door, kept knocking several times even though they knew we were in there, and waited for us to leave to then start cleaning a different room than ours. It was completely unnecessary especially since it was still prior to our checkout time.

It had been years since I visited the hotel. The facilities are gorgeous. The restaurant and cafeteria were very comfortable, and food was great. The opportunity in the kitchen is that 1/10 plate came very late. And 1/10 plate never arrived and had to be cancelled. That should not happen in a hotel restaurant. All plates should arrive at the same time or almost. One plate was a lobster tail that the waiter said it would last another 35 minutes. After everyone had eaten? No. Absurd. That only means lobster was frozen. Every plate was generous and tasty. The room was cozy. Now, the shower was a challenge. It was like driving a stick shift car in a traffic jam. Up/down, up/down; on/off, on/off. I urge and strongly recommend that a manager take a shower and try to leave warm water flowing. Either it was steaming hot, or freezing cold. Could never last 3 minutes in either position. Also, I suggest the hot water temperature is lowered... No one take a hot bath with 120°F water. Overall, we had a great weekend and enjoyed the stay.

it was a great experience. From the moment I arrived until I left. It is an amazing property with plenty of space and things to do. We worked remotely on our stay and the room were kept spotless and refreshed everyday by Milagros from the housekeeping team. Barbara and Ruby at the Bar and Danny in the kitchen kept us full, topped-off and happy with their delicious cocktails and food. We definitely plan to visit again.

Copamarina is my favorite place to go when I need a break from off grid farm life in the mountains north of Guánica. (Hot showers!) They don't use fragrances to wash the bedding and their menu includes gluten free options, both essential to my health. But this time they surpassed themselves. Just before my arrival, I had an injury to my leg that made it very painful to walk. Although they don't normally offer room service, they accommodated my need for support and brought all my meals to my room. The chef also adapted recipes to meet my dietary needs, and staff gave me rides when I felt able to get to the restaurant. I stayed four nights and although I could not walk on the beach, I was able to lie in bed and watch the light change on the gorgeous bay. The open air restaurant is a lovely place to sit and read over a cup of tea, and the staff is warm, friendly and helpful. The guests are a nice mix, with many Puerto Ricans, as well as US and foreign tourists.

We came to Copamarina by chance based on a recommendation by a local whom we met at a bar in San Juan. She encouraged us to visit to escape the rainy weather in San Juan and we are so glad we took her advice! The hotel and its location on the south coast were so much more tropical and beautiful than where we were staying in San Juan. The weather was sunny and warm all week, just perfect.
We ended up extending our stay another two days as we didn’t want to leave!

While the rooms could be updated a bit, they were comfortable enough, though we would have enjoyed a rug on the floor to stretch out on. The walls were also quite thin but fortunately we did not encounter anything too troublesome as far as noise from our neighbors. There was some significant noise late at night by the main pool following a wedding one evening. The view from our oceanfront second floor room was magnificent and we enjoyed having the delicious coffee provided in the room out on the balcony. I loved seeing the view from our bed each morning. The resort was generally very quiet and we felt like we had the run of the place for most of our visit. No running down at 7 am to reserve a lounge chair as necessary at other resorts. Coming from the northeast, I was surprised to learn that their busy season is actually during the summer months.

There are no restaurants to speak of in this remote area so our meals were all onsite but the main restaurant, Las Palmas, had enough variety and the food was generally very good. The guava French Toast was one of the most delicious I’ve ever had! Some additional menu specials each day would be a nice addition. We enjoyed the open air vibe and music as well as the fact that it was open all day from 6 am to 9:30 at night and could come whenever we wanted to eat. The fine dining restaurant was good and we had dinner there one night but the ambience was missing something.

The fitness center was small but modern and very well equipped, a reservation was necessary to use it due to COVID protocols, the benefit being no one else in there at the same time. There are kayaks and other water sports available. The beach was nice but could use some umbrellas for shade. We loved coming down to the beach each evening and seeing some incredible sunsets.

The staff was all amazing! So friendly and helpful - we especially enjoyed Keslei at the front desk and Ronalys, Danali, Julie, Nestor and Luis at Las Palmas, but almost everyone was a pleasure to deal with. On our last night we enjoyed a private dinner on the beach which was definitely a treat!

If you are looking for a relaxing location to get away from it all and just chill, you will love this beautiful resort. We will definitely be back!

Dear Judith P, Thank you so much for choosing Copamarina and for taking the time to share your incredible feedback with us. As a well versed traveler, it is our primary tool in maintaining the level of service we pride ourselves on, and as such, invaluable. We are beyond thrilled that you had such a memorable experience and were able to enjoy almost everything that Copamarina has to offer. We also thank you for your constructive criticism. We are currently working on the model room so we can hopefully give our guest rooms a beautiful facelift in the next few years. I will discuss with my team about adding some beach umbrellas as this is a great idea. And if you could let me know what it is you feel Restaurante Alexandra is missing I would genuinely love to know so I can work on it (alexbenus@copamarina.com). Thank you again for choosing us and for your wonderful feedback. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back so you can enjoy the changes you have helped implement. Sincerely, Alexandra

We stayed during during the week and it was fairly quiet. They do a nice job of taking flattering pictures of the room for the website but honestly they could use a deep clean to get out the funky smell and weird stains. We were expecting better quality. Food was good but pricey especially for breakfast so we ended up going off-site for most of our meals.

We had an adjoining room which was fine for most of our stay because there was hardly anyone at the resort. However a family stayed in the room next to ours the last night of our stay and you can hear EVERYTHING through the door between the rooms. Their baby cried multiple times during the night, there was no effective sound barrier so it felt as if the kid was right next to our bed crying. Curious as to why they choose to put people in the next room over when more than 50% of the rooms were vacant. Had we stayed another night I would have requested a room change.

I read that this was a family friendly resort, which was fine with us (couple without kids) but I was not prepared for how many children were there on the weekend. If you are looking for kids activities with lots of new friends for them to meet then this is a great spot.

We went to the spa which was wonderful and I would highly recommend. My massage therapist was great and the steam room was lovely, The lawn care people were outside of my room chopping and blowing for about 30 minutes during my massage, which made it a little less relaxing.

There are some stray dogs that live on-site. We went to the beach and about 6 of the dogs were leaving under one of the cabanas, we started to lay our items down on chairs a little ways down the beach and a few of the dogs came towards us and aggressively barked at us. We immediately went to one of workers to ask about the dogs. He seems blasé about it saying that they are strays that stay on the grounds. He shoo’d them away but they kept coming back one by one. My husband had to scare them off throughout the day, they seem skittish enough when they are on their own but I’d be nervous to have them travel in a pack especially around kids.

They are doing renovations around the resort so the good news is that people who stay there in the future will reap the benefits. The plants and scenery were pretty, and it is close to outdoor activities. We did not do any of the resort excursions due to the price but there are some outside of Copamarina that are available at a reasonable cost.

Beautiful location and property. The on-site spa, while expensive, was great. The staff were very nice, they gave us a private area to shower and relax before the treatments. The restaurants had great food. We ate at the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the nicer restaurant one night for dinner. The staff were all very nice and helpful. You could rent paddle boards and kayaks which we used quite a bit. They had a security person checking everyone that drove in as well. The room were large and comfortable, AC worked well and the bathrooms were nice. They also had balconies overlooking the property and the ocean. The beach area was nice, with plenty of places to sit and relax. They had also had a pier, we saw a ton of fish, a huge starfish and at night you could see jellyfish which was cool.
The food was on the more expensive side and Guanica is about a 15-20 minute drive along a very winding road, so you generally will end up eating there unless you are out and about doing other stuff.

We loved this resort. Perfect for a tranquil getaway. Grounds are spectacular. Both dining rooms were fine. Staff at every level well trained and professional. The pools were perfect for us (we do laps every day). The rooms are nicely appointed. TW service was good, both English and Spanish. I wish they had one movie channel, e.g. HBO, offered. Wifi was great all over the property, so streaming movies on your device worked. 5G phone service usually. Great front desk staff. Chef in the Alexander restaurant is outstanding. On the down side, the road in from 116 is not for the faint of heart. There's nothing at all we could find in Guanica. Yauco has the shopping, just a few miles away. The spa is excellent, but way overpriced. The 300 dollar 50 min massage for two had about 100 added to it in "service fees" and that doesn't all go to massuese, so you have to add more. So we only went once. Many of the rooms have adjoining doors, so if you want quiet, tell them ahead of time you want one of the rooms without a door. We would recommend the second floor of building three for the best location. You can swim in the ocean, but there's no shore snorkeling. We did the Gilligan's island snorkel thing, and saw some good life. The best underwater sites are at the base of the mangroves as you go in the water. The Hobicat was terrific. Great place for wind. Reasonably priced.

Once on-site they have the gall to inform you that you will be fined $100/day if they catch you with a cooler (even though they don't tell you that ahead of time). WHAT???

Also, they give you an online reservation through Resy at their cheaper, more casual restaurant but when you show up they tell you, "Oh, sorry, that restaurant is closed during the slow season, but we have a table open at our higher-end one".
The hostess told me that this "happens all the time."

The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are fine, if noisy. No fan in the bathroom but the staff leaves your vented bathroom window open (window opens into the hallway!)
There's no microwave in the room.
Definitely expensive for what you get.

Dear donzer1, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us and we apologize for any confusion. However, we are currently in our highest of seasons and as such our restaurants are all open with their regular hours of operations. We also don't use Resy, therefore, is it possible you were browsing a different restaurant with a similar name? Nevertheless, I will follow up with our Hostess and use your feedback as a coaching tool. Kindly note we have Microwaves in our Suites and Villas. In the future, please never hesitate to share your needs upon booking and/or at any time during your stay, so the hotel may have the opportunity to meet your needs and ensure a pleasant experience. Also, our Cooler Policy is on our FAQ page as well as on the Reg Card you signed upon arrival where you initialed next to said policy. We apologize again for not meeting your expectations and wish you safe and pleasant travels wherever they may take you next! Respectfully, Alexandra Benus-Villano General Manager

they have a shuttle boat that will take you there but it's crazy expensive. every add on at this resort is very expensive. You can actually kayak there fairly easily, but even the kayak rental is outrageous.
