AMAZING OASIS — this is the PERFECT place to getaway and relax in the “new normal”; the staff are deeply respectful of COVID protocol and safety measures. The island is completely private, so you don’t have to worry about crowds. The views, food, rooms and activities are all SPECTACULAR, and the team there arranges everything for you...so you can completely unplug. (But don’t worry if you can’t technically “unplug” because their wifi is stellar and strong!) Close enough to Masaya, Granada and Apoyo to do day trips, but also beautiful and relaxing enough that you may not want or need to leave the little island. We kayaked and had a massage (ask for Claudia — best massage I’ve ever had...and I’ve gone to 5-star resorts all over the world and MANY spas. She came to the island and gave the massage in an open-air tented, private areas among the trees) and swam and swayed in hammocks. Love their house-made chocolate — which they serve w/ olive oil and sea salt — and their breakfast included a huevos rancheros with house-made tortillas that were amazing. They also give you a fresh squeezed juice, which changes daily. One of the best parts of the property and menu is that a lot of the ingredients they are cooking with are grown on the island: beautiful chickens roam among the herb and vegetable gardens, and fallen mangoes line the pathways to the rooms. (We ate about 15 “ground mangoes” in our 2 day stay.) A true gem and one of the best stays I have ever had in a hotel. GO!!!…
I booked this retreat for 1 night and was amazed by the beauty of it. So peaceful, friendly staff, nice swimming pool. The food is also very good! You can ask the staff anything you want, they don't give you the feeling that you have to do all the activities they offer. They respect your privacy.
We had a wonderful time at this paradise like island. There were only five guests staying in the Ecolodge and Oznas took perfect care of us. Because most of the comments here already covered all the great things about this place (fresh food, great drinks, wonderful service...) I want to underline my appreciation regarding the „Eco“ part of the lodge. You will not find any plastic around this place, even the shampoo is stored in a reusable dispensers. They produce energy using a sun panel. The water comes from the lake. I even more enjoyed my stay knowing that this place was running nearly completely green. So, all in all the perfect get away.
We were at El Espino for two days and it was a fantastic stop on our trip. It was fantastic waking up to beautiful views of the lake and volcano through the huge double doors of the casita! The service and food were also fantastic. We had a great, relaxing stay just using the kayaks to paddle around the lake and enjoying the little isleta!
Amazing private island hotel! Delicious food, excellent cocktails, and awesome staff. Highly recommend a stay here if you are looking to relax and enjoy nature. Small private island ecolodge with 5 rooms. The island is about a 10 min boat ride and 15 min drive from Granada. We did the bird tour and net fishing. The massages were amazing. We loved our stay here and weren't ready to leave after 3 nights!
