Wonderfully restored Tower House where character has been maintained while adding all mod cons. Beautifully located with views over Loch Creran (best view ever from a toilet!). The "Great Hall" is cosy, atmospheric and inviting with a wonderful wood ceiling and floor and dark wood panelling with an enormous fireplace. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and have beautiful updated bathroom...

What a wonderful experience staying 2 nights at Barcaldine Castle! Between the turrets, spiral staircase, alleged ghosts, historical background, special touches, wonderful breakfasts and afternoon tea, Liz and Ronnie offer warm hospitality and grace. With many "historical" hotels renovating to modern leather and chrome interiors, the owner of Barcaldine has maintained the true historic furnishings with interesting antiques and décor....

Pleased to report that we did not encounter any of the three ghosts well know in this fine and ancient castle. This is a special experience to stay in an intimate castle with quite a history. The castle is operated as a high-priced luxury bed and breakfast, which is well run by Ron and Lizzie and team. Nice rooms and...

We only stayed one night but wished it was longer. Lovely comfortable bed, beautiful room in a very romantic castle- our hosts were lovely, and breakfast was yum. This is an awesome place. The castle is simply beautiful. We had a lovely stay in the spacious Caitness room with a turret and great views over the loch and the hills. The Great Hall and the parlour were just amazing. The afternoon tea and full scottish breakfast were best I've ever had! Absolutely worth every pennie and only can...

Stayed here for one night with my partner in Oct 2015. It would be remiss of me not to write a review for this place. When planning for our trip to the highlands, above all else I wanted to spend a night in a proper Scottish castle. Not an estate or a homestead, which are often advertised as 'castles', but...

The Caitness room was very spacious with a modern en suite. The enchanting view from the turret overlooked the loch and the rolling hills off in the distance. There was a comfortable sitting area as well as a common room for relaxing. We were delighted to have Ron show us the dungeon and to give us a full overview of...

This is an awesome place. The castle is simply beautiful. We had a lovely stay in the Barcaldine room. The bed is really comfy and the room is gorgeous. There are lots of lovely extras in the room. As a guest you have the run of the great hall and the parlour. Breakfast in the morning was first class.

If you like castles, history, luxury and fabulous surroundings then this is the place to stay. The castle is immaculate, and has been beautifully & tastefully restored to a high standard. Liz & Ronnie are the perfect hosts, and very knowledgeable about the history of the castle to its present day. The breakfasts they serve are excellent, and we're looking...

Pros - Our room was lovely with a turret and great views (we had the Caithness room) - The Great Hall felt surprisingly majestic for what is a very cozy small castle, really nice room to have breakfast in - The breakfast was the best we had on our two week trip. We both ordered scrambled eggs and smoked salmon,...
