Stayed here two nights while exploring the Catlins. Staff are really friendly and helpful and it is a bonus to have the Whistling Frog cafe and bar on site. We had a motel unit and were impressed with how comfortable the bed was. A shower with decent water pressure is an added bonus. Units are not well soundproofed but that...

The restaurant is very popular, my future son in law, is the chef and runs it with my two daughters. I am very proud of what they have done. They really are so caring and do a wonderful job, day in and day out. It is,a really tough job. The motel rooms were soundproofed, but they are 'motels'. Always going...

We stayed at the McLean Falls Kiwi Holiday Park as it is located perfectly in the middle of the Catlins. It was the perfect base for us to explore this wild area. The facilities are super clean, the team extremely helpful and the cafe food is delicious! Choice! Nothing but raises for it!

Wow, thanks for your lovely comments. A breath of fresh air... Everyone on our team tries so hard to please. Hospo is sometimes a thankless job, I have to say! We love it when people take the time to say how much they enjoyed their experience. We have thousands of people come through every year. I would say 90% have...

Surprisingly good location and even more surprisingly great food! Whilst this is promoted as a campground it is much more than that. There are not many places to stay in the Catlins that serve good food so if you are travelling this route and need somewhere that caters this is it. We were headed for Papatowai... then discovered their motel/store...

Thanks for your great feed-back. Have passed it on to the staff members. We will take a look at the entrance and signage to reflect ourselves better. Our property has changed a lot in the passed 10 years and we are positioning ourselves more as a resort. Really appreciate you taking the time to compliment us and offer some great...

The food in this place is simply unbelievable! Who would expect such great quality in such a remote location? We extended our stay here as our kids got engaged, the staff really went out of their way to make their day special and partied with them after work. We made some good friends and had a great time. The facilities...

We stayed in a motel room which had the thinnest walls, we could hear the people in the room next to us talking. There is no ventilation in the bathroom so the window had to stay open which was freezing cold, the bathroom remained damp for our entire stay. The room is very basic but had what we needed. Good...

Sorry, you missed the restaurant, but it was on all our websites and booking site that it was closed for remodeling, we have to do it sometime or people will complain . ..? September is cold in the Catlins. We do provide heating as you agreed. The walls have been sound proofed and insulated, plus natural sheep wool in the...

We stayed in the Motel and used the full kitchen on offer. Perfect location for seeing sights around the area. Although not a lot in the rooms it was adequate and suited our purposes. Only recommendation is no dogs in the Kitchen, otherwise all good

Surprisingly great little camp nestled in rainforest. Close to bush walks, waterfalls, beaches, fossilized forest, cathedral caves, and more. Loved the quiet stillness of the area. Amazing to see the stars so clearly.

Location is quite good if visiting the Catlins scenic area. Closeby driving distance to many scenic areas like the McLean falls, cathedral caves, estuary Boardwalk and many beautiful coastline. The holiday park is basic but quite nice and clean. A few things that need fixing but overall ok. Small kitchen area, hot water showers and laundry facilities. There's a local...

Probably worth more than one star ....? The 5 star restaurant is actually next to the camp ground, a very short walk and I am pretty sure you were in a self contained campervan... the camp area is anything but basic... be fair...

Stayed for one night in the dorm room, and rushed out the next morning. The room itself was decent, but drafty. Our main issue was with the kitchen, which had no cutlery, no cooking utensils, no bowls, and no cups, with the exception of a few martini glasses. We were barely able to cook our dinner, and had share a...

The kitchen is designed for campers... Camping means bringing your own stuff. .. We put things in there but people do borrow it and it is not part of the deal.. We don't manipulate anybody to eat in our five star restaurant. .. totally up to you...

This holiday park is nestled away in the heart of the Catlins regional park. At $95/night, the cabins themselves were nice enough (albeit more expensive and less equipped than a backpackers in the heart of Queenstown) , however there were a few unfortunate let downs. Firstly, the check in time is 1500, an hour later than everywhere else we stayed...

In Queenstown you will.be sharing the room with many other strangers. This is a private cabin with tv, dvd, free tea/ coffee, great comfy bed, private parking outside and country environment. The 'pitiful' internet cost me over $5,000 to put in our own private tower, then a whole bunch of repeaters and over $250 a month in usage charges, just...
