Only slight negative is it's out of town but that's also a good thing as it's peaceful and quiet. Swimming pool, pool table, amazing food, amazing people running it Peter and Pai do a superb job I can't recommend this place enough. Everything you could want for 30 quid a night thanks a lot!!!

BEST EXPERIENCE OF THAILAND The Secret Garden is a perfect location to have the best experience of Thailand ... where the food by Pai is outstandingly delicious: and there is so much more to enjoy! the joy of the North ... of Peter and his family [Pai & Isabel] ... the mix of congenial guests ... the local colour ......

The Secret Garden is a truly fabulous place. Hidden in a little village about 10k outside of the city, the Secret Garden offers a peaceful place to relax after a long day adventuring in & around Chiang Mai. Peter and Pai were fantastic hosts, providing a level of personal service that nowhere else in Thailand came even remotely close to...

It couldn't be compared with any other hotels or guest houses. It is more than them, it is indeed a secret garden with two fully-dedicated gardeners (Peter and Pai) who takes care of everything for you. They are good cooks, professional housekeepers, friendly drivers, considerate friends, and all. Thank you Peter and Pai for the great experiences that I never...

Our family stayed at the Secret Garden for three nights, which wasn't really long enough. The hosts, Peter and Pai, can never do enough for their guests and the Thai food Pai cooks every day is amazing. Our two year old boy had the run of the place and loved making a fuss of the extremely friendly and patient dogs....

We totally agree with all the positive reviews above. The place is a gem and should actually be kept secret, for fear of it being too successful!. There's magic in the locale, in the food, in the way Peter and Pai treat their guests, and in the end there's magic in the way people share and interact with each other...

We picked this place because of the comments from fellow travellers. We loved it. It was out of the main centre, but close enough to get in and out quite easily (just a small warning to others though - when we arrived at the train station in Chiang Mai, we asked the information kiosk where the place was - they...

This has got to be the best place stay if exploring the Chiang Mai area. Peter and Pai are exceptional hosts with Pai's food to match. They go that extra mile in their hospitality - nothing seems too much trouble. The beds are a little hard but to be honest all beds seem hard in Thailand and you soon get...

We spent four memorable days at Secret Garden with Peter, Pai & Isobel - they were perfect hosts. If you want 5 star glitz - go somewhere else. If you want a central location - go somewhere else. If you want to be treated like individuals, by people who really care, in a quiet oasis with a special charm -...

It is hard to imagine how the Secret Garden experience could be improved. We just returned from our first trip to Asia which included a ten day stay here at Peter and Pai's lovely, warm and welcoming compound. The bungalows are comfortable, the garden is beautiful, the food is fabulous, but the sincerity, generosity and warmth radiated by Peter, Pai...
