We booked a week, but ended up staying 12 days. The bungalows are clean and neat, and the beds are actually quite comfy (compared to a lot of other Asian beds). Food is good, but slightly expensive, depending on what you get. The salads here are amazing. So good to eat a crunchy salad again after months of fried and...

The climbing was amazing! So many routes for people of all levels; whether you are beginning at 5a or you are crushing 8b, there will be something for you to climb. The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful and kind. All the instructors are very knowledgable and made me feel very safe during my lead climbing course....

I've climbed in Yangshuo in China, in Tonsai, Railey and Koh Tao in Thailand and I must say Thakhek was far the best in terms of climbing and convenience. Despite it being quite a young climbing site (no polished lines), there are hundreds bolted routes and still developing! All climbing sectors are within walking distance from both camps. Even as...

I greatly enjoyed my 14 day stay at GCH! I found the facilities to be comfortable enough, conveniently set up, and well maintained. I also enjoyed the food. There was a nice balance of local to 'European-style' food. The cheer of Uli and Tanja as well as their relaxed and accommodating attitude made for an enjoyable climbing holiday. Last but...

My boyfriend and I were blown away by the superb climbing. Hundreds of well-marked routes and really friendly staff. Took the lead climbing course as we are pretty new to leading. The instructors were very thorough and we learned a lot, despite already having done a lead climbing course back in Singapore where we climb. Was a lot more confident...

+very nice place near the cave & the mountains +nice people there +awesome, tasty food (look out for the dinner special) -accomodation is a little bit overpriced (130k for a 2 person bungalow with shared bathroom). around the loop you find private rooms with bathroom for 2 people for 50-60k) -kitchen is sometimes a little bit slow (more than 25...

I came on rave reviews of all my friends, and found everything to be just average. For the price, service was poor, owners had a permanent scowl and were very unapproachable (maybe that will change once their new restaurant is built). The other staff were pretty friendly though, although often seemed confused or forgetful of simple requests. Food was expensive...

Dear Veggi789, We are very sad to hear that your stay with us wasn't to your satisfaction. The reasons that you've mentioned are up for discussion, a lot of them depend on the point of view. You wrote for example that there is insufficient food, but there are many guests who are asking for smaller portions instead. It is true...

I came to Green Climbers without any experience in lead and rock climbing. If I had to book a course on my one that would have been relatively expensive - group courses do not start very often. Anyway meeting people to go climbing with is very easy at the restaurant. On request staff also supports to bring people together. The...

My wife and me stayed at the camp for six days in November 2015. We rented a bulgalow in the camp which was nearest to the road (the are two camps there). The bungalow was ok for a house of the kind, there was a mosquito net above the bed, the bedlinen was clean (and may be even new in...

This hideout has the best combination of being away from the city, yet close enough to town for some entertainment. All your basic food (and beer) needs are available at the home grounds itself. Love the accommodation, its simple yet luxurious, with large beds and HOT showers. The atmosphere is immersive with the excellent company of fellow climbers. Never a...

“If you are a couple and want a bit of privacy, then book a bungalow, but if you want to get to know people then go for the Longhouse Dorm, I spent 4 nights in the company of Spanish, Canadians, Argentinians, Americans, it was fantastic, but then that is one of the main ideas of Backpacking.”
