Visited the Teesdale Hotel recently, using the hotel as a base for exploring the area, with the specific aim of visiting the Black Grouse Lek on Langdon Common, which by necessity meant for an early start 4:30 am. This was no problem to the friendly and helpful staff, allowing us to be back in time for a full and hearty...

After a visit to nearby Eggleston Hall Gardens we stopped in Middleton in Teesdale for lunch and happened upon the Teesdale Hotel. As it was a Tuesday afternoon it was quite quiet with only 3 locals and their dogs. We had ours with us they all got along fine. The gent behind the bar was very welcoming. The menu had...

Stopped in on the way through, about halfway one drive for work. Excellent menu, plenty of vegetarian options available if you are in to that sort of thing. I had one of the burgers, with amazing home made chips. Staff were very friendly. Cannot recommend this place enough.

We only stopped for coffee. It was very nice and the bar had a raging coal fire, perfect to warm us on a cold day. The staff were great and customers were friendly and jovial. They had an interesting and varied menu, but we had already eaten, sadly!

A comfortable stay, at a great price. No frills, but friendly host and fantastic restaurant food..Extensive bar food menu. Laid back place, would recommend for a no frills stay, I would go back. Downside noise from floor above, but in an old building it can,t be helped.

Everyone I met - bar staff, serving staff, reception, breakfast service - all came across as warm and welcoming. The locals too were happy to engage and very quickly I felt at home. The food also was good with some nice touches - recommended

From the moment I arrived I was made to feel at home. My room was small but adequate, but my abiding memory is of the wonderful people and the really brilliant food. The menu is extensive (I had the Teesdale Vegetarian Pizza, probably the best I've ever had) and the selection of real ales first class.

We were coming home by an unfamiliar route and looked for lunch in Middleton in Teesdale. There were picnic tables outside and lots of flowers so it looked inviting. A notice said 'order food in the bar' so we did. Very extensive menu making it almost impossible to choose! In the end I chose prawns with garlic and chilli. They...

Maybe they've tried to improve the decor, but it really is a bit strange, and if they'd gone the whole way for a few pounds more, it would have made the world of a difference...for example replacing the sticky carpet and lights in the bat and the wallpaper in the dining room. This sort of thing detracts so much from...

This is an olde worlde hotel in an olde worlde village - and I mean this in a really good way. The village of Middleton in Teesdale is a village with all the traditions of old England - a good fish and chip shop, a second hand bookshop, a bank, a gym, a hardware shop, four cafes, a Co-op and...
