Fantastic experience. We arrived at the end of the day at Aloe Kaya where we spent the first evening and night. Superb quite braai spot, and those "Loo with a view"; quite something. We did the Escarpment Trail and Oom Pauls on the following day. Just magic diverse wilderness. Quite tough 20k even if we are relatively fit and frequent...

Never a dull moment on this spectacular trail! Views, waterfalls, streams, sunny fields, rocky outcrops, forests... all so beautiful. This is definitely a hike - it's not for the unfit and there are plenty of ladders, but the daily mileage is low enough to compliment this well. Each overnight hut is unique and special. Thank you to these land owners...

Had a fantastic four day hike on this trail. Some maintenance on trail signs and lodges won't go amiss. The hike is tough but the distances are short enough to make it easy. For birders, plant enthusiasts and rock enthusiasts it is a dream area. There are some nice touches including a wood stove which warms up one if the...

A fantastic experience, well marked trail, the waterfalls, ladders, bridges and sheer bliss was amazing. Not forgetting the honesty bar in each hut. The scenery was magnificent. A little surprise each day

We came here for the annual num num trail challenge hosted by wildtrail. We stayed at pongola express for 2 nights. I cannot think of a single thing that wasn't perfect! The train accommodation is great and really authentic, all the communal areas were clean and nothing lacking. THe trail itself is one of the most beautiful trails you will...

The num-num trail is one of the best marked and laid out hikes I have ever done. Our family of 4 (with a 13 yr old and a 9yr old) did the 3 day hike. Although you can slack pack, do not be misled - there is a good day's hiking still involved. The routes carefully take you through beautiful...

We did the 4-day option in June 2014. We really enjoyed the hiking on days 2 and 3: beautiful varied scenery and a sense of being 'away from it all'. Days 1 and 4, however, left us bemused. Day 1 was badly sign-posted and we got lost. On both days 1 and 4 there's a sense of doing loops to...

My husband and I hiked the 3 day option with our packs as part of our training for the Otter Trail. We stayed in the Railway Coach, Aloe Kaya and Waterbessie. The trail winds through varying terrain and the scenery is spectacular. The overnight huts have beautiful views. It would be hard to choose a favourite hut, but I liked...

We walked this trail in July 2014, with my family. We were all very impressed by it. The walks guided us through an amazing scenery and the lodges were a through delight. There is only one small minus: the hikes are rather short, but there are plenty of opportunities to go explore in the neighborhood of the camp. I will...

This trail exceeded my expectations: as an avid capetonian, I am spoilt with gorgeous views, mountain stream and indigenous forests. Hence I was a little sceptic as I ventured to the Lowveld for this hike.( we did the 3day premium option ) It was magnificent: the facilities are outstanding, the effort in trail design is evident in that we have seen...
