Located at a prime spot that guests often laud for its convenience, the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center offers a lively atmosphere with festive decor that delights numerous visitors, although the music and pricing structure receive mixed feedback. While the hotel's cleanliness and certain room amenities earn commendations, some guests find the value questionable, pointing out overpriced services and unexpected charges. The service quality appears to vary, with commendable staff helpfulness but also reports of responsiveness and elevator issues. Room experiences differ, with mentions of both well-kept and outdated accommodations.

I have to say that I was excited to stay here as I have stayed in other Gaylord locations previously and feel that this location as far as the rooms, was a let down. First I will say that I am a silver elite Marriott Member. They did give us bottles of water, however I got a room that was right at the intersection of 2 hallways and near an elevator bank. There was no privacy to the room so we had to keep the shades drawn at all times therefore making our stay a bit depressed. Why did we not have privacy? Because the location of our room was odd and there were huge public windows from the hallway of the hotel facing ours. Zero privacy whatsoever. I called to complain and left a message with the manager of guest services but apparently on my 2 night 3 day stay, he didn't have enough time to call me back and inquire about my disappointment. Also, the walls in this hotel are paper thin. You can hear everything and I am not one to usually care about hotel noise but the location of this room does not afford privacy nor peace and quiet. I spoke to the front desk about this and they referred me to the guest services manager who then never returned my call at all.
Food options at this hotel are scarce, there is one normal place to eat called the play sports bar and there was an hour and a half wait every night. They have a marketplace with pre-made food but there should've been another family friendly restauraunt besides the play bar. Other options were a steakhouse, coffee shop and maybe chinese, not sure. Nothing to be excited about. The lobby and the overall feel of the hotel from the public access standpoint was beautiful. There is no breakfast available for Marriott silver members, which is why I usually prefer Hilton since I am a gold member and they take things into consideration such as room placement and free breakfast and evening snacks. I would personally stay at the Hampton Inn across the street and then just walk in to visit this hotels grounds next time I come to this area. Extremely disappointed in the guest service or guest experience manager who was supposed to return my call and never did.

My fiance and I stayed here for a quick get away on a Saturday night. The property itself is beautiful. I had been before but never stayed the night and had told my fiance how beautiful the inside was. I have also been to the Nashville location. I was disappointed to see how everything was closed and under construction. When I tried to make dinner reservations the week prior I could not figure out why the only place to eat was a severely over priced steakhouse, and once we arrived I realized that everywhere was shut down, VERY disappointing. We ended up going to eat at the MGM. It is nice that there is a shuttle for guests to take for free over to MGM and Tanger outlets. For breakfast the only option was take away from Marketplace but no sit down breakfast which for a hotel that charges this much there needs to be or they need to severely discount the rooms (which they were not). I ordered an American breakfast which I must say was quite good and filling they gave you a lot of food for $12.00 and we picked it up but all the grab and go was very overpriced. We also went to the 80s pop up on the top level which was cute and fun but they were out of all the advertised milk shakes, so we got a chocolate one which was awesome but still I wanted the peanut butter and jelly one and they were out of peanut butter? Everyone we encountered was very friendly and lovely, top notch customer service. The room was very nicely decorated and clean, the shower had a set in it and was a very strong stream. I am okay with the in shower pump shampoo, conditioner and body wash, except the amount it dispenses needs to be more. I have such long hair and I have to hit it 10 times to get enough conditioner out. Our room overlooked a roof and being that the hotel was not crowded I would have preferred some view. The maid also came at 10:00 (check in was at 11:00) knocked once and came barging in while I had just gotten out of the shower. As far as check in, I was told I would have a mobile key and it was awesome that it was assigned 10 minutes prior to check in, but for whatever reason I still had to go to the front desk and check in and wait in line. Thankfully it was not long and the clerk that helped me was very nice. I paid for parking there and was told I would just have to use my key to get out, well it did not work and I had to call the attendant and wait 15 minutes with a line of traffic behind me. I am not sure also if the spa was open or not. I saw adverts everywhere but no mention of it in room. Prior to arrival I could not find any price menu or anything online where I could book other than "call the hotel" I thought that was really weird. I wanted to see the prices or services prior to calling. Most hotels have that available. Overall I think this hotel is beautiful and has some great people working there, but it's almost as if its not ready to be open right now, it's not putting its best face forward. If it is choosing to be open it should remove the amenities fee, because you really are not giving people any amenities, provide free parking and discount the rooms more, it's just not the same experience.

Was at this hotel for a conference. This hotel really gets into the Christmas spirit . If you need some Christmas cheer in Nov or Dec just stay here. The hotel is very clean and the housekeeping staff were excellent. Forgot to leave a tip but wow very great housekeeping service on the 6th floor The rooms are very nice , beds very comfortable get a room facing the light show at Christmas..
The Christmas light show is great!!!
The marketplace is available to purchase snacks and breakfast but some of the food like salad was old and very expensive
The fitness center is excellent
Some of the staff were not as knowledgeable as one would expect for such a high end hotel
and we could hear a tv from a room nearby all night and the issue was not addressed for hours
Perhaps due to COVID all the staff were just getting back up to speed
The WiFi was intermittent which I would not expect for the expense either
Overall it is a very nice hotel and you will enjoy your stay

Although I've been treated well by this facility previously, this year was constant growing pains and frustration.

Our group of 8 arrived for a convention at the Gaylord around 5PM. We checked in and were able to accommodate us with an upgrade to two rooms with an atrium side by side, but said that the rooms would be available at the moment as they were cleaning them. My group checked with staff about 4-5 times and were given no updates beyond that the staff were still cleaning it. We were informed that we would be guaranteed to be in the rooms before midnight. After 5 hours of waiting, we were finally given the room numbers. That was our only update.

Midnight passes and our rooms are still not prepared. We were given temporary rooms for the night. We waited for about an hour and a half, and the check in desk never sent in our ticket for bell service. They called our temporary room to inform us that the bell service moved our belongings into the room we were supposed to have for the night, not our temporary rooms. They called us in our room and said that it would be faster for us to get our bags ourselves, when we obviously don't have key cards for those rooms.

The next morning, we reconvene and meet at the front desk only to find out that someone at check in has undone our reservation for the atrium rooms and had given it to someone else. They scrambled to get us our requests of a paired room.

They had offered us compensations and an email from management, however not everything that was presented to us was taken care of. Check in staff had told us they would provide us with some adjustments to our room and cover our parking as well. As we were leaving, the staff person working the parking booth asked us for payment. And when we presented our ticket and our receipt from the hotel, and remained uncooperative. He merely said it wasn't his problem and did not speak to us or address us, merely looked at his computer or his employees until we paid.

As a patron of this hotel for the previous few years, I'm very disappointed by the service we were provided this year. What was an annual trip began and ended with an unpleasant experience provided by the team there.

Despite the chaos of a cheer competition we had a room on a quiet hall. The staff whether it’s a member of the housekeeping staff or desk clerk or general staff member is always helpful and attentive to details. I have had a staff member hold the elevator for me as I was wrestling a stroller and even hit my floor. The housekeeping staff came quickly when we had an issue in the bathroom and our room was meticulously cleaned by another.

However remember it is a convention center so there is always a lot of activity and lines for their food service. The rooms do have refrigerators and there are stores and restaurants nearby so you have other choices available to you.

The atrium and view of the Potomac are wonderful. Take some time and enjoy walking around town!

I stayed here for a work event. I was extremely dissatisfied with the cleanliness of my room, see pictures. After taking my socks off I could feel hard crunchy things on the floor under my feet clearly indicating the carpet has not been vacuumed. I found what looked to be like a used dirty diaper on the windowsill, there was toilet paper and feces under the mattress on top of the bed skirt on one bed, there were no washcloths in the room, the pencil marks on the tile floor from where they marked cuts to install the tile were still there! From having done tile work myself at my house I can tell you if you wash the floor the pencil marks come off. The fact that they were still there how many years later is crazy!

I went to the Premier check in desk and shared photos and asked to get this information to the cleaning staff manager. The person at the deck was nice, said that is unacceptable and gave me a different room. A couple hours later during a break I went to my old room to gather my things to move to the new room, the bed was made but every issue was still there hence yet another missed opportunity for the cleaning staff to actually clean.

I moved my things to the new room and noticed the safe deadbolt was sticking out but the safe was open hence not able to close it and use it. I called and asked for assistance, I explained I had 10 minutes before needing to be back at my event, the person on the other end said no problem, we will be there right away. Nobody ever showed up! Even when I left 2 days later the safe was still in an un-usable state. My second room had tissues or toilet paper in between the bed sheets on one bed! Oh my God, really? If they were washed no thin paper based product would survive in the condition this was. So how did it get there? Was the bed simply made after the prior person used it and the sheets not changed? Gross no matter what the situation is and there is no excuse for the housekeeping staff not noticing this if they were paying attention.

Upon checkout I again went to the Premier line and explained all of the above to the staff member who said nothing at all to offer condolences. I asked she share it with management and as soon as I turned around to walk away she started talking and joking with another counter staff member as if she could care less my experience and what I just said meant nothing.

Cruise ships manage just fine but the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center can't seem to manage itself, despite rates as high as $400 or $500 a night.

The front desk was a disaster. The elite desk for platinums and above wasn't staffed. My room with a king bed turned out to be a room with two double beds. Could have invoked the Marriott guarantee but I didn't have the time to waste at the front desk waiting to speak to someone. Room was okay, but some wear-and--tear. Hardly luxurious. Basically, just a regular Marriott in need of a thorough renovation.

Zero elite status recognition. Would it be that hard to have a letter and fruit basket amenity for elite status guests?

Waiting for breakfast meant standing in line because the limited number of restaurants have huge waits at peak hours. And not just at breakfast. Getting lunch or drink generally meant leaving the hotel because of excessive waits and poorly organized restaurants.

Calling it a resort and charging a hefty daily resort fee when most guests are there for a conference and don't use any of the amenities is shady. All I did was sleep and visit function rooms. Supposedly the resort fee included a newspaper but I never received one.

Hotel management should be replaced with cruise ship managers because they clearly don't know how to manage a hotel of this size.

Horrible! The front desk lady who was checking us in was very unprofessional. We came like around 12.00 am, get to the room around 12.30 am to find one of the beds have bloody fitted sheet, I start checking and the pillows are so dirty, call the front desk they apologies and send Room attendant, I wash my hands and grab the towel and you can see pictures below. 30 minutes later, it's 1.00 am now, someone came and said he is not Housekeeping and he is only here to deliver clean linen and basically he told me to change it myself! Marriott Bon Voyage where is the standards, service??? I work for hotel business and if it would happen in my hotel........

Marriott standard is 2 Full and one king pillow, no here it's 4 full. Very low service, extremely disappointed! Will never stay here again.

We were here over Easter weekend for a volleyball tournament. In fact, I think the majority of the hotel guests were there for the same event. I had read about issues with the hotel changing peoples room types, etc. Upon checkin we were told that although we had booked a room with 2 queen beds, only king rooms were available. They said we could get one rollaway. We had 4 people booked for the room. When we asked where the 4th person was supposed to sleep, they shrugged their shoulders. After asking for a manager, the manager said that we could have 2 queen beds(humm the queen rooms miraculously became available?)the manager said we could have the queen rooms since we had not booked with the volleyball group code. While we typically book with the room block, I did not this time, as the cancellation policy was better without the room block. Several others from our volleyball team encountered this issue- being told they did not have enough beds for the people in their party. It was just a big scam, to save the rooms
For guests who had not paid the group rate. The hotel restaurants were always mobbed and the wait staff could not keep up. The floors of the restaurants were always littered with food. On Easter Day no one came to clean our room. I called house keeping and the front desk multiple times and each time they would tell me someone was coming in a few minutes. Eventually I really just wanted some towels so I went to search for some. I found a lovely housekeeper who said that no one would come and clean my room as many of the staff had staged a “sickout” on Easter to show the company how upset they were that they did not get overtime for working on Easter. How sad for these hard workers. This hotel was a disaster and I hope I will not have to return.

Watch the charges in unknown places when dealing with the desk. We found a better deal for our room after initially booking so canceled our first room but the cancellation never went through. When we checked in there was no mention of this, so even though we showed, they charged us a no show fee on the cheaper room and charged us for the room we tried to cancel. When we disputed they told us we should have checked in for both rooms even though we didn’t know we still had a second room. To add insult to injury, we paid for parking which we told the front desk, but they charged us again for parking with the room.
