Host was great and welcoming, we particularly enjoyed the free pancakes breakfast on Saturday! The campground is well located, 5 minutes walk to the footbridge (bus stop to kennicott) and the views on the glacier are amazing on clear days. Hot showers are available but pricey (remote location).

We were somewhat surprised to find this little oasis near the McCarthy footbridge. As we are tent campers, we enjoy some privacy around our tents. This campground provided just that. Wonderful spots! Although we could not take showers (the heater was broken) the campground host went out of his way to make us feel at home and comfortable. The hamburgers...

This is true Alaskan wilderness camping. Chris provides all of the comforts and amenities you need in case you forget to bring something. He also has 24 years of experience as a camp host, so he knows the area, knows what to see and what to do in the daytime and he knows where to find exciting nightlife. I will...

Wrangell/ST. Elias NP is much more remote than for example Denali NP is, which makes coming here a little bit more challenging but also very rewarding. There is way less tourists here, no souvenir shops and it seems much wilder. The Glacier View Campground is pretty rustic, there is an outhouse and a simple shower you can use. There is...

There are only two legal places to camp at the end of the McCarthy road. Glacier View Campground is about 1/4 mile from the pedestrian bridge at the end of the road. In June 2014 a site cost $25 per night and could be reserved in advance. This is primitive camping and not for the faint of heart! The campground...

“Space 24 is very private, but also can be hard to reserve because of it's popularity.”
