Nestled away on the picturesque southern tip of Barbados, OceanBlue is one of the most beautiful, peaceful and hospitable destinations. Our 23-room property offers the intimacy and privacy of a small boutique hotel with the spaciousness of a resort. Relax around the swimming pool or in our oceanfront Seabreeze Lounge and enjoy the stunning views of the Atlantic as it meets our untamed coastline. Visit our Art Gallery and be inspired by the work of Barbados’ most respected artists. This diverse private collection promotes our cultural heritage. Our art collection began many years ago in the heady days of a burgeoning tourist industry when, in 1981 along with our partners, we built and co-owned the hugely successful, environmental and multi award winning 168 room hotel, Casuarina Beach Club (now Sandals Barbados). For 19 years Casuarina was managed by our mother Sonia “Bonnie” Cole-Wilson until it was sold in 2005. It was during this period that Bonnie began her private art collection. Her vision was to support, promote and through the hotel, give exposure to established and emerging Barbadian artists working in diverse art styles and materials. Bonnie’s support was impactful and appreciated by artists and aesthetes alike. In addition to Bonnie’s role as Managing Director, many of us in the family worked at Casuarina in the capacities of Member of the Board of Directors, Night Manager, Reservations, Activities, Bar and Restaurant, Web Development and Promotions. We worked together to sustain Casuarina’s staggering 90-95% year-round occupancy and healthy 65% average repeat clientele. While staying at Casuarina Beach Club in 1988, Margaret and Adrian Loveridge first discovered The Arawak Inn (now OceanBlue). They were immediately taken by this unique hotel and embarked on purchasing, renovating and rebranding it Peach & Quiet. Margaret and Adrian made Peach & Quiet one of the most successful, intimate and hospitable hotels in Barbados, with a high repeat clientele. Their personal touch and genuine interest in their guests ensured a lasting loyalty. In coming full circle, our family discovered Peach & Quiet, and were witness to Margaret and Adrian’s passion for this property and in 2019 embarked on purchasing, renovating and rebranding it OceanBlue Resort. To add to the string of coincidences, prior to us purchasing Peach & Quiet, Marc and Sally Egan of the award-winning Marco Polo Bar & Grill toured the hotel with Margaret and Adrian but decided not to purchase as they primarily saw themselves as restauranteurs. Our family had the good fortune to meet Marc and Sally and bring them full circle back to operate the bars and restaurant at OceanBlue. Our family have been smitten by the beauty of this unspoiled bit of Barbados, with its unchanging coral coastline. We are privileged to become a part of this property’s history and through OceanBlue, once again contribute to Barbados’ Tourism Industry. Come stay with us!

We stayed twice at this hotel over a decade ago when it was known as the Peach & Quiet and we loved it. Now under new ownership (Liesje, James & Lulu), it has recently reopened. The hotel is a great place to stay if you want an adult hideaway to chill out and do nothing. Sadly the owners have handed over all the catering to the Marco Polo Restaurant which was extremely disappointing, was unreasonably expensive and was not able to provide a good meal throughout our 11 night stay which is why I have rated 4 rather than 5 stars - (See my separate 2* review of the Marco Polo).
The hotel is located on the South coast at Inch Marlow. The resort fronts onto rocks which are constantly pounded by the Atlantic waves giving an impressive visual and audio backdrop and created a great place to sit and gain a sun tan, read a book or just admire the view. The relatively small underused pool was a great place to swim and although not heated was at a constant warm temperature throughout the day. The bedrooms were spacious with very efficient air conditioning units, large fridges, valuables safe, very comfortable beds and were equipped with en suite facilities with good showers with plenty of hot water. The nearest alternative restaurant was too far away to walk but plenty could be reached by car. There is a good bus/mini-bus service from nearby but I would recommend a rental car to explore the island or to visit some of the marvellous restaurants. Rental cars are in very short supply on the island – I would recommend booking with Stoutes car Rental before arrival (Approx 100 USD per day). Serina on the front desk was a star and organised numerous restaurant reservations and booked us another rental car for our second week.
In summary a great location to stay if you want to chill out and do nothing – car rental recommended if you want to explore and enjoy the amazing food that is available at numerous alternative restaurants.

It is tough to do justice to this 23 room boutique hotel in a few paragraphs. The brilliant white Mediterranean architecture is as new, the Atlantic surf meets the rocks a few meters from the Oceanside pool, kite surfers soar above the waves from beaches to the north and south. The south coast location is set in a residential area removed from the harsh ocean conditions on the east coast while offering intimacy and a price point unavailable on the busy west coast. Numerous beaches are a short ride away. The accommodations are spotless, new bathrooms, new air conditioning, and each room has a private terrace or patio.
Distinct from other resorts, the owners are Barbadian, hands on and on site. Liesje, James and Lulu together offered the most accommodating, thoughtful, responsive, and personable experience we have ever encountered anywhere in our 25+ years of travel.
The on site Marco Polo restaurant and bar offers a seamless experience. Marc and Sally and their team will speed your transition to “Island Time” with local cuisine, creative cocktails and a good dose of fun.
We have already reserved for 2024.

I returned from this beautiful resort two weeks ago. We had a partial ocean view room, I could see the ocean, and I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks which was just the most tranquil sound. It was even better at 7am sitting outside with the sun glistening on the water and listening to those waves crashing. I actually think I managed to bottle up the feeling…..

Owners / Staff
Lulu, Liesje, James, Serena and Karen were so so helpful and were very welcoming. They gave me lots of information about the island that was invaluable.

Room
Very spacious and clean
Balcony is big and lots of space, very comfortable to chill on.

Grounds
There are loads of sun loungers
The entire grounds of the resort are clean, tidy and spotless
The resort has the most beautiful art work dotted around everywhere you turn; all done by a local artist.

Food
There is a restaurant onsite called Marco’s. Only ate there twice but the Jerk Chicken and the extra spicy sauce was Chefs kiss. The Rum Punch there was the strongest I tried whilst in Barbados.

To sum up, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at OceanBlue resort. The only thing I will say is if you are an explorer like myself, in order to fully enjoy yourself you really need to hire a car. But notwithstanding, the reggae reggae bus depending on where you want to go is a five minute walk away.

Thank you so much all the team at OceanBlue. I really felt at home.

Hi there Yetundef, first, thanks for taking the time to write a review and we apologize for the time it has taken us to reply. Yes, the reggae buses have captured the hearts of many of our guest, it takes a while for their hearing to come back between the walk from the bus stop to OceanBlue. We are so pleased that you felt at home as that is what we strive for. Thanks so much again for staying with us and should you find yourself in Barbados again, even if not staying with us but experiencing another location, please pass by if you can to say hi and maybe have a drink with us. Take care and all the best.

A beautiful, quiet hotel located a short drive away from the center. Rooms are spacious, clean and modern and there’s a pool right on the edge of the hotel overlooking the sea.

But it’s the team who run ocean blue that make it extra special. The owners go out of their way to make sure you’ve settled in and everyone from the maid team to the night security was incredibly friendly, would ask about your day and go above and beyond to make sure you got what you needed.

The whole place feels incredibly tranquil. Rooms are clean and fresh and the outdoor balconies are great to sit and chill at. My one request would be that they install umbrellas at the pool - there are a few shady pagodas you can set up in but the early birds at the pool grab these.

The restaurant is not managed by the hotel and is sadly not as excellent as the rest of the hotel. The food is fine but quality is average and prices are high compared to the rest of the island - we took to getting our own breakfast and enjoying it on the balcony of our room but would have happily eaten there more if the prices were lower or the quality better. Again though staff are the redeeming factor at the restaurant - the servers we had when we did visit were great fun, warm and professional.

If you’re even considering this hotel do go ahead and book!

Dear "Chips with Jam". thanks very much for taking of your time to write us a review, we really appreciate it. We thrive off of the energy of our guest which in turn makes OceanBlue what it is. We take your point about the umbrellas and are working on a solution as we type. We appreciate your feedback on the Restaurant and are working together on the guest experience. Barbados is a lovely place with many options available to stay and the fact that you chose OceanBlue for your vacation means a lot as we only recently re-opened. Thanks once again for taking off your time and we hope to see you again. All of us at OceanBlue.

This was, hands down, one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at, and we have done lots of traveling. James, his sister and his wife are very kind, welcoming, caring and try very hard to make every guest's stay a pleasure. On the first morning, James greeted us so warmly during breakfast, we immediately felt at home. The whole resort is just amazing. The location is great: right by the ocean, with a fantastic view (the best one we have ever had from a hotel!!) to the sea, in a residential and therefore very authentic (and safe!!) neighborhood, perfectly in the middle to explore the rough east and the smooth west coast. Oistins is just a short drive away. You do not need a car to stay here, even though it is certainly more comfortable to have one. The restaurant and bar staff are equally amazing. Thank you Von and Ronnie for making every evening /night a fun time. During night several security men take care of the guests' safety, which is very good. Guests, who forgot their sunscreen, can borrow one from the hotel, which is very generous. The rooms overlooking the ocean are especially great. We loved how beautifully decorated with various works of art the whole resort and the rooms are. And it is great that the rooms do not have a TV. The food in the restaurant is very good and the cocktails are delicious. Every Saturday there is live music. It is a very calm place, also suitable for solo travelers, and since it is a rather small hotel, you easily find yourself talking to other guests and - best case - making new friendships. The pool is great, we could stay by the pool and watch the ocean all day long. This is a very fatanstic and happy place and we would like to thank all the hotel staff there, which really made our Barbedos vacation just perfect.

A wonderful family run small resort beside the ocean. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to our Ocean Front room which had a really beautiful view.
It felt completely new after having undergone a full refurbishment in 2022. The whole team from the owners to the cleaners were very friendly and did everything to make our holiday a relaxing experience.
The resort is not on the doorstep of the Barbados nightlife but is just a short distance away reachable in a few minutes on the local buses. It does have the excellent Marco Polo Bar & Grill on site where we would take breakfast each morning, served to the table rather than buffet, and where we also ate several dinners.
The pool has more than enough loungers for all guests with shade available when you need a break from the sunshine.
I will remember waking to the mesmerising sounds of the ocean, the helpful staff, the atmosphere around the bar where we chatted to other guests, and the feeling of true relaxation. Thank you.

We have spent many holidays staying on the West Coast of Barbados while visiting family, and this was our first time in the South. My husband and I had 11 glorious nights and wow what an experience, it truly felt like a retreat. It’s so difficult to put into words just how amazing the owners and all the staff are at this resort. As many previous reviews have stated, the staff are friendly and attentive and happy to help. On Thursday night we had the most beautiful Valentines Dinner under the stars in the main courtyard with a perfect view of the ocean. The live entertainment, 2 Guitars were fantastic, and everyone joined in and we danced the night away. At the event James the owner made a short speech celebrating an award they had received that day from Booking.com. It was so nice to see all the staff were asked to join them for the celebration acknowledging the Team effort. The resort is beautifully laid out and spotlessly clean. Being such a small resort, it felt so quiet and even at full capacity there was always plenty of space around the pool and the restaurant service was great with superb food. There are plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the general peace and quiet with the background sounds of the ocean. There are too many wonderful staff to mention individually, so collectively we would like to thank everyone at Ocean Blue for making our stay so special. We will be back, Rachel and Carson 😊

The resort is beautiful with Mediterranean and West African influences. The architecture and decor give it a very pleasant and soothing ambiance. The art work and tropical gardens add to the rustic charm of this boutique resort. It is impeccable and spotless. Sunrise from the pool is breathtaking and if you are lucky, you might spot some turtles close to the shore. The balcony of the ocean front rooms (our's was 204) gives you a bird's eye view of the resort while relaxing to the sound of the waves. You can enjoy Marc's amazing cocktails and specials at the restaurant with a picturesque view !
The staff are very friendly.

Rooms are spacious and you can enjoy the sunset by the pool as well. Oistins is just a 15 mins drive from the resort and surfers point is a 5 mins walk away

If you are looking to enjoy a calm, peaceful holiday in an artistic resort by the ocean with the lovely Cole family - this is the place to be ! A personal touch and warm hospitality awaits you.

James, Lulu and Liesje have build this amazing place and they went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect holiday. Highly recommended

Stay at OceanBlue Resort!! It is breathtakingly beautiful and has the best customer service I’ve ever experienced! The owners are so kind to their guests and their staff. The rooms are spacious, well decorated and very, very clean. I even had a patio where I could sit in the evenings. The restaurant is excellent, and, unlike most resort and hotel restaurants, is very reasonably priced. The chef prepared everything so well that I ate all my meals there. I recommend the coconut shrimp appetizer, the kingfish w/potatoes and veggies and the flying fish and chips. The cheesecake and ice cream were also excellent. My tour cancelled on me and I had trouble finding a taxi that would take me to the wildlife sanctuary for under $175 and the owner James took me there and back and refused to take any money even though I offered several time. He also found out that one guest had their luggage still at the airport and took her down there as well. His sister and wife also help run the resort and they are equally wonderful. Simply put, they just truly want their guests to have a great vacation. They made my stay so incredible.

What an absolute find!! This hotel is its own little paradise overlooking the carribean sea on the south of the island. Everything at this resort is exceptional from the caring, helpful owners, the clean tidy rooms, the restaurant and bar staff to the pool attendant and cleaning staff. We had a truly relaxing, chilled two weeks at this resort and were looked after so well by all concerned which made our experience even more enjoyable. If a relaxing, quiet holiday is what you're looking for, this is the place to find it, I can highly recommend Oceanblue.
