This is our local and in all the years we have lived in the village it has changed ownership/management several times. Previously we have visited 4 times, 3 bad experiences and 1 good and I dare say we would not have been this time if we hadn't won a Sunday 2 course meal voucher in a raffle. So it is with some delight that I can say we had a very pleasant experience. Service was very personable and the Sunday dinner most enjoyable. Had we paid I think £14/head was a fair price.

The dining room itself is pleasant, but at a height of 5'11" I wouldn't expect to find the table a little high compared to the chair height, my wife was even more at odds with the height disparity, but I don't think that affected our enjoyment.

I guess it pays to focus on the content of more recent reviews sometimes in order to get a reasonable perspective, glad we had the chance to try again.

We stayed for 1 night after a rugby match between Northampton Saints and Leicester Tigers. The hotel is about 20 minutes drive from Franklin’s gardens stadium.
There is adequate free parking on site and the check-in was welcoming and smooth. The room was a good size, the bed was comfy. The bathroom was also a good size, the shower was nothing special though. The tea & coffee supplies were a little bit sparing, but I,m sure we could have got more if we asked for them?
We pre-booked the restaurant and the service and meals were excellent. I was impressed with the super friendly staff and that they acknowledged that I had gluten free needs with the food choices, of which there were several. The salmon meal that I had was delicious.
The cereals, fruit juice, hot drinks and full English breakfast that was included in the price in the morning was also delicious. Overall this was a good choice for a local overnight stop-over if you are either attending a rugby/football match at Northampton or on a shopping trip at nearby rushden lakes shopping complex.

This was my first visit to this location. On arrival, I was greeted by a lovely lady who informed me of my bedroom location and the facilities available.
My room was clean and tidy and, as a double, was spacious.
As I was being taken out for a meal, I did not eat during the evening. However, I did enjoy a nice pint of London Pride in the bar.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant area in the mornings. I ordered the traditional English breakfast, which was freshly cooked with a choice of toast and real butter portioned out. After a bit of a wait, the waitress asked me to remind her of my order as the order had been mislaid. My egg preference was poached. The first was cooked to perfection, but the second was raw when I cut into it, which was disappointing. However, the sausage and bacon were very tasty.
There is ample car parking on site, and the hotel is situated in a village location, so it is fairly quiet.
As I am often in the area for meetings, I will definitely book again.
Well done on winning the Four in a Bed award. Definitely deserved.

First time here and it certainly wont be the last. When for the 2 course deal on the Sunday. The risotto balls were very tasty and the roast was superb. All the ingredients were so fresh and you get lots of meat! Only improved would be more green veg, but thats a preference. I would recommend booking on a Sunday as it was very busy.
Will be returning very soon..

My first visit to this pub for lunch with my family. We were greeted by a member of staff as soon as we walked in the door and shown to our pre-booked table. The menu was a carvery menu with several options of meats available. Our orders were taken and the food arrived in very good time. The helpings were more than adequate and the food was hot. We were able to order drinks from the bar and these were brought to the table. The atmosphere was very acceptable as tables were far enough apart that a conversation could be held without hearing what was being said on other tables. The service was first class throughout the meal. We will certainly be returning in the future. Great food and great value for money.

Booked for one night due to an event on at Santa pod. Welcome was friendly, room was a good size however very dusty around the headboard and couldn't use the fan as it was very dusty my O/H is asthmatic so decided not to use it. Facilities are ok the table with the kettle and television isn't very useable we had to switch it around so we could use it. Didn't realise until the morning of waking up that we had loads of dotted blood stains over our bed sheets and pillow, (which weren't from us) The shower could do with a good clean, handset holder was gunky with grime and the overflow had a brown ring of grime going round it which wasn't nice to discover when I was in the bath.

We regrettably used the restaurant for dinner, we was the fourth table, food was quick. Menu is sub standard, the focus on there menu is more about presentation rather than quality and taste, halloumi was bathing in hot sauce and the mains had no flavour we ordered burgers; if they focused more on the flavour of the food they served it would of been alot more enjoyable; I'm glad we didn't book breakfast as would of been a disappointing way to start the day. I will not be returning purely because the service wasn't the best in the restaurant, and I can get more for my money elsewhere in the same location. Don't waste your money here you will be wasting your time.

Thought would try here for Xmas dinner after brilliant meal earlier on in year.

Overall food very good. Bit of a delay between main course and desert. Member of staff seem flustered a bit and just said at end do we want anything else instead of advising what’s on offer.

Extremely disappointed with crackers. Considering what we paid at least make an attempt instead of insulting by placing those 99p ones on the table. The ones that have little plastic frogs or dice in them.

We were only a group of 4 people and noticed that a service charge had been added. Wasn’t gonna kick off about it as it was Xmas but no mention of it on website or when booked originally. Accept that it was Xmas but just something on website when advertising dinner would of been nice.

All that let me down and prevented a 5 star we’re crackers and service charge.

We stayed here with a 1 year old and also someone who needed an accessible room.

The Accessible room was the best! Was lovely and clean with fairly modern furnishings and of course the bathroom was perfectly suited for her needs.

As we travelled with an infant we asked for a large room for travel cot and were given the superior room. Hotel doesn't supplier travel cots which is worth noting. Again room clean and fairly modern looking with a super gorgeous looking bathroom. One downside, nothing is nailed down. Having an infant in the room meant he was able to pull pictures and mirrors off the wall. They should really nail these down for safety reasons.

The staff were amazing our whole stay and were really helpful as we arrived very late.

The food was also pretty good with a really huge full English included.

It was a lovely hot sunny day been out for a walk decided to call in The World’s End for lunch. Haven’t been here for over two years for lunch was nice back then terrible now. Food and drink has gone downhill. Hardly anyone in the pub and restaurant had to wait ages for food drinks not so long. We sat outside every table was sticky with drinks food no sun umbrellas up bins nearly full so lots of wasps. Cappuccinos came out luke warm disappointing food that followed was such a let down. I ordered prawn salad sandwich asked for brown bread came out with white which was so thick couldn’t eat properly wouldn’t cut with knife and fork chips where horrible oily fatty tasted like they had been cooked in oil which had been used more than numerous times worst chips I’ve eaten out. Hardly any salad prawns were the frozen ones tasteless rubbery hardly any dressing last time they were fresh tasty and everything was lovely really don’t know what has happened to the food so disappointed. Service was slow and half hearted. Prices are not cheap a sandwich from any supermarket is better and cheaper. My partner had a panini which was better chips still awful the same as mine. Will not be returning anytime soon.

Stayed overnight for a family members big birthday celebration. The actual place is lovely and the breakfast was fab. There was a huge problem though. It was minus temperatures outside and my room, room 21 didn't have any heating. It was freezing when I first got to my room despite the hotel asking me beforehand to see what time I would be arriving. Had to wear my jacket for an hour and a half in room. Couldn't have a bath as it defeated the object of having a nice soak when the room was so cold. Even went to the bar early as couldn't stand being in a cold room any longer. When I complained at reception before going out for the night I was told they have underfloor heating and that it takes a few hours to warm up so would be nice and toastie on my return from the birthday celebrations. Returned at midnight and it was absolutely freezing, no staff about at all to complain. Was that cold I almost wore my hoodie in bed and nearly slept in the floor in my sister's room as that room was warm. Hoped that the alcohol would make me go to sleep easier but still woke up cold. Complained in the morning and a nice member of the breakfast team agreed that the issue was unacceptable and so I would hear from them in due course. I never did, returned home with a massive cold, emailed them a week or so later to see what they had to say and they lied and said there was no problem with my room and that I hadn't turned the therostat up. I had two eye witnesses who saw that the room never warmed up in the hour and half before the party no matter which way you turned it. Such a shame as everyone else's room at the hotel was warm. Unacceptable, I paid good money for my room and don't deserve being lied to, just accept liability and admit it was shoddy service.
