Very nice hostal nearby the city Center of Tena and next to jungle. Marcia is a very friendly host with always good advises about what to do in the surroundings ! This is a good place to go on a jungle tour, explore waterfalls and lagoons, see some local communities and a lot of different Amazon’s activities. I shared a dorm room with others backpackers and spent some time in the terrace with a nice view over the city. I recommend it !

I think the staff are really sweet, warm, and helpful. I felt like they cared about the establishment and my time in tena. If you have questions about tena or tours, feel free to ask! They have built a lot of connections within tena to ensure guests have a great time. Something to be mindful of is the entrance can be easily missed.

I cannot tell you how much I loved this hostal! Marcia was absolutely wonderful, I didn’t really want to leave! She sorted many tours out for us and was a fountain of knowledge of the local area. Lovely rooms and relaxing area on the roof. The location was good, everything you could need nearby. If we’re ever near Tena again, we’ll stay here for sure! Their two dogs are so cute too, we will miss them.

Exceptionally friendly staff and very welcoming atmosphere. They have great shared facilities (big kitchen, barbecue, chill-out area..) perfect for a longer stay. The people really make you feel like at home, they were very helpful and offered good advice on how to get around and what to do on a budget. Also, great value for money!
Highly recommend this place if you want to stay in Tena to explore the Amazon!

I was suppose to stay only a few nights at Zumag Sisa, but I decided to extend my stay as a felt so good at this hostel. Rooms are very clean, Internet connexion is excellent and Marcía (the owner) and his family are very nice and make you feel like home. She even drove me to the bus station to help me buy a ticket as my spanish is not very good. Would definitely recommend this place for anyway who stop in Tena!

So far, in my experience in Ecuador, Tena is about as least costly as one gets, and this hostel is about the least costly here. It provides all one can want from a hostel, and more, especially if you like socializing with a local family. My highlights are Sendero de la Mision, across the tower footbridge over the Pano and Tena Rivers. Walk along the river and come to the local swimming hole with a 7 meter platform to jump/dive off. across the narrow Tena River. Second and greatest was a canoe trip down the Arajuno River with Antonio, Pablo's father: mostly an indigenous experience in the jungle and on the water.

It´s a hostal, not a hotel, so don´t expect luxury (and especially at the very reasonable price), but it was clean with a clean bathroom with hot showers. It is very centrally located, with many nearby restaurants and stores on the Main Street. When we asked about an outlet to charge our iPads, etc., the hostess quickly pointed out the receptacle behind the bed, but also provided an extension cord to make access easier. She also took us on a personal tour of Tena, and on several occasions, personally took us to restaurants we were looking for. She was also very helpful in suggesting things to do and arranging things for us. Would go back anytime. However, a warning—Tena has many attractions, but mostly for those able to do a bit of walking. I had a bum knee and couldn´t make a number of the attractions.

What others have written about the owners of Hostal Zumg Sisa wanting you to treat it like your own home is totally true. They are so lovely and make you feel right at home, and help you out with whatever you need. For the price ($10 for a private, $8 for a dorm) you can’t go wrong. There is a balcony at the top with hammocks and a table and chairs with a good view of the distant hills poking above the clouds. Love this place and would recommend it to anyone!! <3 <3 <3

I was here for 3 weeks and I have to stay that this hostel gave me one of the best experiences ever. The family was so welcoming and I felt very included in the family. I also met so many other travellers, some who have changed my life and my outlook on travelling. They are bike-friendly also, and have bikes available for rent for a daily fee.
