Wisdom Forest Lodge far exceeded our expectations during our 2-night stay! We booked for a dorm room but got upgraded to a private room as it was available at the time! Bhagav gave us a warm welcome, spending time to get to know us and offered a delicious home-cooked dinner after a long day of travel. The breakfasts were also delicious and freshly prepared at a time we could choose. We were given good recommendations on where to visit in the area and transport options, such as Laguna Azul. The lodge felt very sustainably run and the surrounding rainforest was stunning and felt safe to explore. We were free to use all of the spaces in the main lodge as well as our lodge, which had a kitchen and terrace area for free use.

This was a great place to stay in with a beautiful balcony, hammocks and forest view, not too far off from the city of Tena and a close distance to some awesome outdoor nature activities. There is no real cellphone coverage or WIFI so it’s extra relaxing and peaceful. The only thing that seems necessary to stay here is a car to get around, particularly to and from the touristy sites. However, it’s also accessible by public transportation and close enough on the road to be able to walk. The people are really nice, and the food is delicious and vegetarian. Highly recommended!

I stayed there for two weeks while travelling for 11 months and I met some of the most inspiring people.

I loved our daily routine of Yoga in the early morning, then having a great breakfast before labouring for a couple of hours. After lunch we sometimes had workshops or just enjoyed the nature around: like going for a swim.

The food was great, but I guess that depends on who is there while you are there, since it is normal to take turns to cook. There were volunteers who had been there for longer and they also said that food was great all the time. I am a vegetarian, so it was nice not to have to think about what you could eat and what you could not.

It is really easy to find from Tena: follow the instructions on the website and then just ask locals: they will know where you want to go.

I spent the most amazing week at wisdom forrest; everything about it is true to the most fundamental principles of what a yogic life is. You are truly immersed in the Ecuadorian jungle, nature at it's purest! Your meals will come from their own garden, delicious fruits, vegetables and even cacao! The opportunity to help gave a deeper meaning to my stay and by the end of that week leaving was the hardest thing to do. I can't recommend this place enough! My dream is to return very soon...

We loved our volunteering experience at Wisdom Forest and wished we could stay longer, but couldn't due to our travels. Practicing Yoga and Meditation daily was a very spiritual experience. We also learnt how to be more eco-friendly through Volunteering at the forest, and also had some great daily workshops. We also learnt more about a vegetarian lifestyle and tasted some very good vegetarian food by the awesome cook, Kedarnat (we miss you!) and had great weekend adventures with the other volunteers. All the staff, including the owner, Bhaga, was very friendly, down to earth and helpful =) Finishing our experience with a Temazcal (sweat lodge) was a perfect ending to an amazing stay. Miss you guys! Shawn & Chantelle!

The Wisdom Forest Lodge is a beautiful house located between Tena and Talag that invites you to relax, do Yoga, talk with the great owneres about deep topics and just be yourself. I loved staying there especially because of Bhaga and Kedarnath, who are so welcoming and interested and really try to make you have the best stay possible. The vegeterian food is so good and varies a lot. Yoga classes are one of the best I have had so far. Here you can also learn a lot about Hare Krishna and the way they live. Only con are the insects but of course you cant do anything against it since thats just nature ;)
Absolutely recommend this place, will come back! :)

I recently visited Wisdom forest for a 2-day yoga retreat and was totally amazed by the place and my stay! Having lived in the area for the last 3 years, I can honestly say that I haven't visited many places alike wisdom forest.

Wisdom Forest is located in the hills, hidden away from noise and civilisation. It's very eco friendly and serves absolutely delicious vegetarian food made with so much love, by the owner and people from the community.

While I was there, I was lucky to take part in a Temazcal ceremony, which left me feeling totally invigorated and ready for my yoga the following day. The yoga and meditation were great, with astonishing views of the surrounding forest.

There's honestly nothing bad I can say about the place. I just really recommend that you visit and see it with your own eyes! The owners are also launching an exciting reforestation project to help preserve the surrounding area, which you will be supporting by staying there- which is an additional reason to go and visit!
