Had a wonderful time at Jugle Roots Galmping. One of my favorite experiences of my month in Ecuador. Diego, Carrina, and Kevin were very welcoming and made a great experience. We stayed in a small hut with no wifi for two nights. They cooked amazing vegan meals our entire stay and had a fire going at all times. We also did the rafting with Diego and it was AWESOME! Would highly recommend to disconnect for the weekend.

Did a wonderful white water rafting trip in Tena with guide Tovia and our safety kayaker Diego. Their experience on the Jatunyacu River made for a heart racing, wet and super fun filled day. The family business is well run and personal. The lunch that was included was fresh and tasty. We highly recommend this tour company when visiting Tena.

Diego runs a wonderful operation at Jungle Roots. He and his staff were very kind, generous and knowledgeable. We stayed two nights in an incredibly artistically crafted tent-like structure created by Diego and staff using mostly local materials straight out of the rain forest. Our breakfasts were beautifully prepared by Oliver each morning, hot and fresh! We spent one day rafting and kayaking with Bryan and Leandro on the Class 3 Jatun Yaku River. They were personable and professional, which is too often a difficult combination to come by. If you can stand to relax without your phone and immerse a bit in the natural world, seize the opportunity at Jungle Roots!

Lovely tranquil setting with lots to do nearby. We hired bikes and cycled to waterfalls which were beautiful.

Diego is brilliant, he helped us so much navigate the current troubles in Ecuador to get us to our flight home safely. Can’t recommend his camping place enough!

My partner and I had a great time staying at Jungle Roots. If you are looking for creature comforts of glamour, this isn't the place for you, this is a true eco-stay that makes a low impact on the planet. The owner is friendly and helpful and is also an expert kayaker and can take you river kayaking. He also took us on an amazing hike through the jungle to a waterfall. The food is nice and the beds are comfortable. And the resident cat is hilarious...

A beautiful place in the middle of the jungle, built thoughtfully, with heart from pieces of the wood collected from nearby. Perfect for escape from hectic every day life...to find some peace, feel the nature and forget about the internet:) however, you can actually get a realy good coffee here:))
The owner also organizes incredible kayaking and hiking trips, where you can see amazing lagoons, waterfalls....unforgettable:)

This is a nice campground 9 kilometers outside of Tena. The owner is also a Tourguide and offers amazing tours into the jungle and rafting and kayaking trips.

In the night you can enjoy the sounds of the animals that live in the trees.

A unique and peaceful place between Tena and the Laguna Azul to enjoy nature and beautiful people. We had an incredible time with Diego and his family showing us lonely spots at the rivers around to swim, hike, relax or for tours on the river. It's basic quality from the food to the equipment, We had a fantastic time there and hope to return soon!

I stayed a night and then got addicted to this place. Far from the madding crowd of Tena (but only a quick bus ride away) Diego has created a little slice of heaven here that very quickly felt like home. Not only is it friendly family run, but it's also eco-friendly and hand built. I'm so grateful he shares the incredible view with us travellers!

Is it easy to get there from Tena/Lago agrio?
Answer from JungleRoots
Tena, Ecuador
Hi Lotte, there are direct buses Lago Agrio - Tena (one leaves around midnight and arrives in Tena un the morning). From Tena to Jungle Roots you get a local bus Centinela that departs every 45 minutes direction Talag/Laguna Azul. The ride takes about 20 minutes and costs $0.40.
