This conveniently situated hostel is run by Michael and his beautiful wife Beatriz. Their sons Roger and Jimmy often help out as well. I ended up staying here for over three months as I liked it so much.

Clean comfortable rooms, a well equipped shared kitchen, on-site organized jungle tours and an efficient laundry service are only a few of the reasons I will be going back. And just wait until you see the mountain view from the kitchen on the top floor. Breathtaking. It's also a quick walk to the city center where you easily find groceries, restaurants and various stores.

I've stayed in a few places in Tena over the years and haven't found better value than I did at Hostal Limoncocha; the prices are very good. Friendly, welcoming and extremely accommodating ... every day. This place attracts both Ecuadorian and foreign guests and had a great reputation around the area when I inquired about it.

Michael and his wife are kind, genuine people who look after their guests and put a lot of thought and time into their business. We quickly all became friends. Nice work!

And you know I'll be back soon Michael. :)

Great place for its simplicity and with a truly helpful owner. It’s clean and friendly with hot water to wash the Amazon dirt off you after a long trek. Really great find especially quiet and laid back. I’d happily recommend to anyone visiting the area

Me and my friends booked the Limoncocha 3-day amazonas tour through our host at Limoncocha Hostel. It was probably the best experience so far during our trip. Juan is a very passionate guide and a very warm person. He took us out to the cabins in the amazon together with his wife and son. His wife cooked all our delicious meals during these three days. Exploring the river and the jungle with Juan as our guide was amazing. It was so genuine. Would definitely recommend to anyone who want's to go to the amazon!

Clean room, great bathroom with hot water, and nice staff. Nice hammocks and chairs to sit outside. They let us leave some luggage while we went to the Amazon for a few days as well. Laundry service was a huge plus.

I loved my stay here. We had a private bath with hot water in the shower, rooms were clean. There's a computer you can use by the check in desk. Breakfast is served. The only meal they offer. They also offer jungle tours, kayaking, rafting and jungle camping. Its off the main drag in town so traffic noise is nearly non existant. I will stay here ago when I go to Tena.

We stayed here only one night, but were very satisfied with the service we received:
8 dollars per person for a double room with shared bathroom (this are the published prices til the end of 2015), towels are included, wifi worked great, also in the room (best WIFI so far in Ecuador).
We left the hostel at 22:30 the next day and because there was nobody gonna stay in our room we were allowed to use it until that time: no charge! This was a first on this trip (we have been travelling for 8 months now.)
Also included in the price is drinking water from a water tank!
There is a kitchen to use.
The whole hostal, except for the guest kitchen, was very clean. This is the only thing I criticize: a new sponge to clean in the kitchen would be great. When we got there, there was dirty crockery, presumably from other guests (which we are used to from other hostels), but a clean sponge would have come in handy here. Why do I still give five stars you might ask: this was a minor issue for us and the rest of the hostal was really VERY clean, also the shared bathrooms!!
Location was good for us as well because we came from the bus station and left in a bus again. Also the day trip we did was done by bus. Plus the biggest supermarket of Tena (altough not as big as you migh think ;-)) is like 3 minutes walk from here.

We read about the hostel in our travel guide and decided to book. One of the main reasons being to not have problems making our self understood.

We wanted to do some rafting but since my girlfriend feel ill Michael called around to find a group in could join. He even lent me a pair rainproof pants for our jungle trip.

While Tena it self is not much of an attraction aif you stay there limoncocha is the best place.

Our room on the top floor had an amazing view! The owner only charged my mom and I for two persons the first night we were there even though I booked a room for three people for two nights, my girlfriend showed up only for the second night.
The rafting down the Jatunyuca River was super fun!
The prices for the room and rafting were the best in town!

I don't normally write reviews however I was impressed with this well organised and super clean hostel. This hostel was definitely one of the best hostels I stayed at in Central and South America on my one year trip. The showers were hot, the wifi was available all over the building, and it was great value. Well done to Michael the owner for running a good business here. Breakfast was available for three dollars which was always served up promptly. Michael also gave us a lift to the bus station and organised our tickets as our collective spanish skills are terrible.
