This lodge is amazing! The facilities are well taken care of, staff are very friendly and lodges are well equipped. We stayed here a few nights during our 10 day safari and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling through, or visiting Ngorongoro Crater. The tented lodges are very clean, private and each has a great balcony with wonderful views....

Just here from 1 night on our way to Ngorogoro and Serengeti but what a night it was. We had developed a theory by the stage in our trip that the worse the road leading up to it, the better the hotel and it certainly applies to this place. The road is like a 4WD track but once you get...

I do not even know where to start! We had very high expectations for this place and did not expect them to be surpassed quite so effortlessly. We mainly went for the rhotia valley project and children's home aspect but the lodge was breathtaking. Pure safari style luxury. The staff we very friendly and welcoming. The tents were spacious, clean...

Great atmosphere! Perfect place to chill out after a long safari. Characteristics of the place: personal welcome, stunning views, excellent food, ice cold beer, a pool, 'Dutch warm kruik' in bed (at nights it can be cold up the mountain), high quality rooms, above all its a sustainable non-profit organisation; profits goes to children home across the hill. The place...

What a stunning view and welcome when we arrived at Rhotia. It was a hot day, cloudless sky, extremely lumpy bumpy road and here we were on top of Africa washing with lovely warm moist cloths and drinking welcome drinks of avocado juice delicious. We stayed for 3 nights and from here visited Lake Manyara and the Ngorogoro Crater. The...

After a great safari in Tarangire and Lake Manyara, we stayed at Rhotia Valley. It was stunning! The bumpy trip up there took a while, but it was definitely worth it. Wow. The view is awesome and the accomodation is very well kept and luxureus. Next to that, we felt very welcome. The management and rest of the staff were...

After some small uphill roads via a local village, we arrived at the Rhotia Valley Tented lodge. Next to the beautiful view, friendly staff and amazingly good food, the tents were very comfortable (especially the beds were very good). Also the fact that all the profit that is being made is invested into the orphanage next door, makes the stay...

What a beautiful location. The scenery was spectacular and the garden marvelous. Unfortunately we arrived at the end of the rainy season so we could not relax by the pool but enjoyed the deck none the less. Our vehicles definitely struggled with the mud and we were happy each time we made it up and down the mountain with out...

Our first two nights on Tanzanian soil were spent here. It is a heck of a drive but well worth the effort. Occupying two hills, one for the camp and one for the orphanage and school the place could not be more more self sufficient nor friendly. Local produce covered the dining hall for dinner and breakfasts, the owners could...

How beautiful to be set over such stunning valley views, nestled into this beautiful Lodge that provides such a place of warm welcome and tranquillity. The welcome from the gorgeous team at Rhotia was just lovely. It somehow felt like we had arrived to visit family! The thing is that this team find the perfect balance between making you feel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Quietly tucked away on the top of a hill in rural Africa and, at the same time, located in the very heart of the Northern Tanzania safari circuit Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge breathes the atmosphere of true Africa. The lodge is built with indigenous hardwood and in traditional African style. It is in complete harmony with its surroundings. Yet, its spacious set up, personal and friendly service and its finishing touches, such as cozy sofas around the fireplace and warm decorative details, provide a perfectly balanced luxury. With only fifteen individual tents, Rhotia Valley has an intimate charm. Each of the comfortable tented houses has its own veranda with splendid view. The bathrooms are provided with hot and cold running water, shower and flush toilet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in our open dining area. Most of the vegetables and all the herbs are grown in our own garden. Daily we bake fresh bread in our Bakery. Moreover, we produce butter from the milk produced by our own cows. Facilities: - Swimming pool with panoramic view. - Wifi is available in the common dining area. - Conference Room fully equipped with beamer and flipchart. Rhotia Valley is more than a lodge. It is completed embedded in the community of Rhotia. Rhotia Valley consists of the Tented Lodge and, on the opposite hill, a CHILDREN'S HOME. Its aim is to give support to the people of the Rhotia area, all the staff and the children in the Home are from the local area. TWO HILLS, ONE GOAL! ... more   less
