The online booking process was simple. Driving into the car park you see the lovely old building, up a small staircase to the grand reception ( there is a wheel chair access if required). Efficient check in process by Abbie. Was also booked in for afternoon tea, so we went

I recently stayed one night at Wivenhoe house and I must say it was certainly worth the 60 mile round trip! Only 15 minutes from the excellent Colchester Zoo. The hotel is very easy to find and well signposted on the roads surrounding. My partner and I stayed in the deluxe room

The hotel is lovely , a great entrance and superb reception when I arrived. I made my way to one of the rooms in the new building and was very pleasantly surprised with a great bed, Apple Mac and a really impressive bathroom. I relaxed on the balcony watching sport being played.

Dear Simon, Thank you for posting your review last month, I am delighted that you enjoyed your bedroom. I am obviously disappointed, however, that the food in the brasserie did not live up to your expectations, in particular that you thought the food was tasteless. Our kitchen team are constantly review the menus and recipes, and so your feedback is very useful, thank you. Kind regards, Oliver J. Q. Brown General Manager

Honestly food was really good cannot complain at all , we left full and happy . The service staff however seemed very lacking in knowledge of what they were doing . Very nervous and unsure . We would definitely recommend and return in future .

Like the majority of hotels, eating here in my opinion is pricey. However, Wivenhoe has no real alternatives, so you’re probably looking at a drive into Colchester, so You’re probably better off giving the hotel a go!£

Where do you dine for breakfast and dinner - is it in the old building?
All the dining areas are directly linked to or in the main old building, there’s a lovely breakfast room and lounge, and then there’s the modern brasserie downstairs attached to the back

Do all of the rooms have the fancy coffee machines?
The one I stayed in did. My wife has stayed there before and hers did so I anticipate that they all do. It was easy to use by the way.
