Detailed Reviews
This place is without doubt one of the most special we've ever stayed in. We'd been due to stay in Jasper as part of our tour of the Rockies but due to the tragic circumstances in that area I'd rescheduled our trip to stay here. What an incredible alternative it proved to be.
The location on the lake opposite the Purcell Mountains is simply beautiful. To wake up and have such a view followed by a swim in the lake and a hot tub is such an inspiring way to start the day. Our room was clean and fresh with a very comfortable bed and a high quality ensuite.
The Sentinel provides healing courses. Around the grounds are numerous carvings and ornaments reflecting the spiritual nature of these journeys. The attention to detail is really noticeable and it's all tastefully done. We found the whole vibe and place incredibly relaxing and serene, which was just what we needed after 3 weeks of touring around.
We had breakfast every morning as Kaslo is a 10 min drive away. It's a good quality range of fruit, fried food and cereal. It's intimate as you're eating in the living space of the owners but gives you a chance to talk to the few other guests staying.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They told us when we arrived they pride themselves on guests not having to lock their rooms. And they were right - it's such a small and safe place we didn't lock ours once.
Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. It's a real boost for the soul and mind.

I was very happy to return to the Sentinel for the fourth time this summer. It is one of the most magical places I have been to. Waking up to the sunrise right in front of my windows, above the stunning mountains and the lake is truly special. The food is healthy and delicious. I am a tea drinker so the variety of teas available throughout the day makes me happy. A swim in the lake followed by the sauna or a hot tub is always great. As is an evening in the tub gazing at the stars. We were lucky to be able to join sound healing taking place in the stunning meditation building. While my family is somewhat skeptical of these healing modalities, we all loved it. We also signed up for a excellent massage available on sight. The staff of the Sentinel are friendly and helpful. The little town of Kaslo is worth visiting for ice cream or some very local shopping.

Accommodation is lovely. Breakfast is delicious, healthy and substantial. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with information about local restaurants and activities. We were scheduled to stay 2 nights and ended up staying 10 nights. That says it all doesn’t it?

Pros: Beautiful hotel, clean rooms, beautiful views and friendly staff.
Cons: No A/C or ceiling fans makes for miserably hot rooms in the summer. No TV's and restroom exhaust fans are inefficient or do not work.

The place is absolutely stunning. Never seen scenery like that. Only thing better was the staff. From the general manager, to the chef to the owners themselves. It was a place of health and serenity. Dog friendly and have an amazing dock and sauna. We can't wait to go back. Only a few rooms so it always felt calm, quiet and relaxing.

Amazing location and facility (sauna being my favourite part). Friendly and helpful staff who work really hard to make you comfortable.
While spending time on site, I could feel my stress melt away. Especially when reading in the sunroom. Highly recommend to others.
