Really looking forward to our weekend there next month. We stayed there last year in the three bedroom cottage. It was rustic, but spacious with all the amenities. We enjoyed the most beautiful sunset views and campfires. There is a little store for fishing equipment and snacks. Mostly though, the relaxed setting, fishing , tubing and boating is what we enjoyed most. I have been informed upon booking this year that the cottages have been renovated/upgraded so that will be a bonus for us. Can't wait to go!

12 of us enjoying a boys golfing weekend at Sheffield Greens which is literally right across the road from Kawartha Lakes Marina and Cottages so we really couldn't have asked for more convenient accommodations. On top of that, the cottages were quite clean and well stocked making things much easier for us. The staff were friendly and helpful and it all added up to a most enjoyable stay.

First of all, kudos to the marina staff Randy and Nicole! They went above and beyond to ensure the launch and boat slip reservation for the season went smoothly. Anyhow, we have our 20' boat docked at the marina, and decided on a friday one weekend that we would like to stay overnight to fully enjoy the weekend. David who manages the resort responded very promptly and accommodated our last minute ask at a discounted rate seeing it would have been vacant anyway. We arrived the following day and was impressed by the cleanliness of cottage #5! Brand new BBQ, brand new microwave, etc. The bathroom was also cleaner than most other pigeon lake resorts. The screened-in porch was our favourite! The resort is extremely pet friendly and we were able to let our dog swim at the waterfront. All in all, we had a great impromptu weekend and would recommend others to give it a try.

I wouldn’t recommend this resort at all. The inside of the cottages are clean but the outsides all look in need of repair. The road in front is very busy especially for for small children. Air conditioning is one window one for the whole cottage which is inadequate. Very noisy with tractor moving boats early in the morning. BBQ needs replacing. Office workers rude and yelling at each other and customers. No one available for later check ins . Beach area small and dirty.

The positives: screened porch & lovely sunsets. Cozy bed, decent appliances. The rest was pretty negative.
Reservation was adjusted to accommodate our Saturday to Saturday request by an employee who apparently did not have the authority to offer that. We arrived for 2 p.m. check-in on a holiday weekend & found our cottage occupied until the next day, so had to drive 2 hours back home....in 3 vehicles because of the circumstances under which my husband, myself & adult son were able to meet in the area. Owner NOT at all prepared to assist with our return travel expenses which amounted to gas for 3 vehicles. Let's not even count our frustration that our family weekend was ruined. At first it seemed the Manager, Nicole, who actually could not have been nicer just did not want to address our concerns about having been offered the Saturday to Saturday rental because I did not have the name of the employee who called me on our cell to offer the Saturday night reservations because he said the people staying in cottage #3 were leaving so it would be available to us. When we learned this was not the case, there was nothing available locally to reserve for one night since this was a holiday weekend, so our family weekend got ruined & we had to do the 2 hour drive back home with our 2 small dogs. I indicated to Nicole that we would expect the owner to compensate us in some way for their error & for our hefty fuel costs. She did indeed contact him, we understand one of 8 professionals who are co-owners of the "resort ", but he indicated too that he was not prepared to do anything because I did not have the "name" of the person who called me. Like I'd invent this! At a later date, the responsible employee admitted calling us & offering the accommodation, but that did not satisfy the owner either.
Our son did not return the next day given how limited his time would be to stay, but my husband & I went back with our dogs. This accommodation was prepaid, otherwise I can tell you we would just have walked away. We decided to try to make the best of it.

NO A/C! Brutally hot & the ceiling fan in the kitchen didn't help much. We learned after the first night that any food we'd prepare indoors had to be done early in the day, otherwise it was like being in a sauna. First night, I tried to microwave corn on the cob. Mistake! The fridge conks out when the microwave is used. So great, 2 hours later when I'm putting stuff away I noticed the fridge wasn't working. I called the emergency number listed on the "resort's" business card....that would be 2 weeks ago tonight....still no return call! Lucky my husband figured out how to fix the electrical problem.
No owner is present on the property it seems. The Manager leaves at around 5-6 p.m.. While there are guidelines left in each cottage regarding noise after 11 p.m., forget it. First night, voices, music etc kept us awake until 3 a.m. in the sweltering heat.

Be prepared to leave a damage deposit even though the accommodation is prepaid! $500! We have stayed in this area for years....never experienced that before. The toaster won't work unless one holds a lever down...the microwave apparently didn't work last year either according to the occupant of the next cottage who only stayed at this "resort" because her adult children gathered there the last 2 summers.

So, now to the word "resort". Can't drink the water...none is supplied, nor is bedding towels, personal items like soap, shampoo etc, so where does the "resort" come in?

Day 2 making lunch - remember if it is warm it is too hot to cook later in the day -a chipmunk or red squirrel scurried across the floor! Great, now I'm worried about any food that a critter could get into.

We couldn't take this place another minute by day 5, so we returned home. This, after a night of loud scratching from the area above the bedroom ceiling that went on for hours. A family of rodents or maybe a raccoon? We couldn't get out of there fast enough.

If you do decide to stay here, allow lots of time if you ever need to ask a question at the marina/office where Nicole is on duty 7 days a week. As mentioned, she is very pleasant but it appears over-worked. It was not uncommon to have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes of precious "holiday" time to ask a question. She is busy fueling boats etc & seems to have lots of responsibilities.

I wanted to be sure none of our $500 security deposit was retained, so had her check the cottage for damage like the toaster that didn't really work etc. She did make an offer to entice us to return, but forget it...we'd NEVER go back to this place! We are not overly demanding clientele & expected not to be staying at the Ritz for the price. However, this place fell far short of meeting our expectations. The owners have no P.R. skills & as faithful visitors to the area, they will never see any of our business again. Good luck if you still decide to try this place!

Kids, loved it, we had awesome time at the cottages. Truly a great service, we rented the boats and had great family getaway. Plenty to do in this place. I recommend it. Cycling and hiking was specially fun...all you wanna do outside hiking, cycling, sailing, boating, fishing, golfing, exploring trails.

Just the basics here. Only one step up from camping in the bush. Cottages are all ill equipped, which reflects the attitude of the staff. Location is great. Too bad nothing else is. They should take a que from real resorts and take some training. Maybe one day they would get there, but better value in trying somewhere else. In desperate need of competent management.

Firstly, the employee (lady) we were dealing with at check-in was extremely rude and made some strikingly rude remarks to the couple checking in before me including a blunt insult to the husband that was very inappropriate and none of her business. I was appalled that an employee could act like that and get away with it. Another member of our group had another encounter with this same employee again the next day and she was once again, strikingly rude and confrontational to them. This treatment ALONE has left an extremely poor impression of this operation.

Secondly, the cottage my family and I rented had several concerning construction deficiencies including a large drop in the middle of the common area with a lot of movement when walking on it. I felt very uneasy as it felt like the floor might collapse. There were large ants in the bathroom and one bedroom. Both sliding doors had issues - the one had no lock and the other had no screen. There were missing light switch plates which is dangerous for children. The window a/c was working at its maximum but clearly wasn’t rated for the space because the entire cottage felt like a sauna. At one point, it felt hotter inside the cottage than it did outside. The deck outside appeared to be in need of some repairs on the support and didn’t leave me wanting to be out on it. Instead of trying to deal with the nasty employee who we had to deal with at check-in, we all left the cottage short of our trip because it was that bad.

I plan to be coming to the Kawartha Lakes area again but will make sure I steer clear of this marina and cottages after the disgusting treatment of customers by the one employee. (Other reviews mention friendly staff - clearly they weren’t there when I was there.)

My family has a boat at the Marina and last weekend they had a great party for customers there. Owners are very friendly and David who runs the cottages showed us a few of the cottages I must say really beautiful and you can't beat the views. I would recommend a weekend there, you will not be disappointed.

Did not enjoy this place! Had to move cottages 3 times within 2 days! What is shown on internet is the owners cottage! Not what you get! Also water was unable to swim in and would of been nice to told prior to arrival! We left early! Nicole was great but place no good! Will not be back.
