This was my 3rd yr staying here...not so happy this time.
By 3pm my room wasn't ready yet...the next day even though it was requested my room wasn't tended to and towels weren't refreshed.
Other than an apology I wasn't offered any compensation at all.

Our room had a good view from the windows.
The entire place is tired and from the look of the furniture in the room, it was collected at second hand stores or garage sales! The carpet was badly stained and the air conditioner in the window at the end of the room, didn't do much for the rest of the place except disturb as it ran all night!
The large window in the bathroom had a great view of other rooms, I ended up taping the blinds to the window frame for privacy. Frosted glass would be an improvement.
For the price charged, I felt like we were robbed.
On the plus side, it is within walking distance of the downtown area, where there are plenty of places to eat. There is a swing bridge across the canal which was interesting to watch.

I recently stayed at the Inn the weekend of July 20th for 2 nights – came in from Nova Scotia as we were attending a relative’s wedding in Buckhorn. This was one of the closest hotels/inns we could find. There were 5 of us and we booked 3 rooms - the other 2 rooms were nicer then room #15. As many of the reviews have noted; the owners do like their drink and are very rude; especially the man. I wanted to book a manicure and there is a link on their website to the salon attached to the inn but there is no separate number. I called to book an appointment not realizing I was calling the inn and the owner quite rudely said to me “did you not just call?” .. I mentioned I was trying to book an appointment … he gave me the number and slammed the phone in my ear making a snotty comment like “well, I would not post my neighbour’s number on my website” … The bed was rock hard and there was an incredible amount of dust; especially on the window coverings with a moth covered in so much dust – wondered how long it had been there!?!?! The shower was so small you could barely turn around with a curtain too short so water went everywhere on the floor after showering! I would probably not stay at the Inn again however; the area is so beautiful ... I would look into a bed and breakfast next time.

When we checked it at reception, we should known we had made a big mistake. The reception area was a shambles, cluttered with unembarrassed furniture and tools.. you could hardly get to what they called the reception desk. The owner said excuse the mess we are renovating. They have been for two years and they expect to be renovating for another two years.
The owner said we had the best room in the inn. l would hate to see the other rooms. We did have a private balcony off the room, but it was small and two small tired wood chairs you would see at a antique shop. and no table. lt was only 30 inches wide.
At first sight the room looked nice, but when you looked closer the floor in the bathroom was linoleum and had cracks it in. The shower had what appeared to be mold on the grout. Th efan was loud and noisy.
They said they had free WIFI but when l tried to sign in it said the password was "Incorrect". After numerous attempts to login and l went down the reception and what do you know it logged in fine. When l got ten feet away the signal was so poor l lost the connection. So much for free WIFI. l wasn't about to sit in messy reception area to use the WIFI.
We were there for two nights and the first afternoon when we came back the room was not made up. We let them know and they said the housekeeping person was still there and they would attend to our room. when we returned at supper the bed was made and they left one clean towel. The dirty towels were left behind and they didn't empty the wastebaskets or give us more clean plastic glasses.
When we checked out there was no one at reception but one of the staff said just leave the keys on the table. They didn't ask if we enjoyed our stay.

The only good thing about the Inn was their outdoor patio. The food and the service was very good. l would highly recommend you eat there.

Booked for Oct 10/20 and was given room 5. After check in we had to leave and didn’t return until late that night. Upon getting up in the morning, found dirty sock under the night stand. AND the bed sheets were covered in black hair! Also hair on towels on towel rack by very small shower. Plus the toilet seat was not tight and needed replacing. If only we took the time to inspect before we left.
When checking out, I informed the lady at the desk and she was shocked. The manager/owner who was seated at a table, replied, Oh there were 2 black dogs in that room! No apology, no sorry, no compensation! The rate we paid was more than the off season rate quoted on their website. Will never stay there again and hope by reading this you won’t either. Totally disgusting!

Owner was very nice & accommodating. Room had all I needed. Was clean. Could use more TV channels and could not get wifi working, but not a big deal. It was quiet and comfortable. Would stay again. Easy walk to all amenities. Right on the water which would be awesome in summer.

My husband and I attended a family reunion in Bobcaygeon from Augut 4-6, 2007. As several people were attending, there wasnt enough space for everyone to sleep at my relative's home, so we needed to book a hotel for two evenings. Back in the spring, I made an extremely bad decision and booked two evenings at The Bobcaygeon Inn.
Normally, I would not take the time to write a review, however I am doing this in the hope that other people will read what i have said, and not make the same costly mistake that we did. The hotel must have new owners now, as a few years ago this hotel was the home of The Big Tomato Restaurant - a fabulous restaurant with great, great food. It was always full with patrons. Well, it's gone and now the restaurant was empty and stayed that way for the entire long weekend. Upon arrival, this was our first indication that things had changed and there were new owners. But,we werent too concerned as we were in Bobcaygeon with family and would only be staying at the hotel in the late evening to sleep. As there were 3 of us staying in the room, we were given room #16 - "with a lake view" for myself, my husband and my teenage daugher.

Room 16 - The most filthy, dirty room we have ever stayed in. We were not expecting anything fancy and figured the room would be dated and old. All we hoped for was a clean room to sleep in for two evenings. This was not what we were given. In hindsight, our first indication should have been when we were walking to our room and owner said to us (after I had signed on dotted line with my visa #), "excuse the carpets - we had a fire last week and we havent replaced them yet". Well, the carpets should have been replaced long before a fire ever happened!! They were all covered in black large footprints (from the firemen) and pot black, not to mention the smell! But the worst was yet to come in our room. The carpets in our room were so dirty that we couldnt walk on them without shoes on. I think they were dark blue originally, but tnow hey were black and soiled from years and years of use and never being cleaned. There were coins laying on the floor that didnt belong to us, underneath a chair (obviously not vacuumed). There was what once must have been a beige throw rug. It was filthy with stains all over it. The chairs in the room were made of fabric and had such stains on them, we couldnt sit down. The bathroom door looked like someone had thrown a cup of coffee on it. Bedding - one queen bed and a double - both with old, old ratty bedspreads, sheets not tucked in and each DIDNT HAVE A BOX spring - a mattress on springs. The hotel room door only had one lock on it on the door handle (like you would have on your bathroom door at home). No double lock, no chain lock. And at the end of the hall to our room, a door was propped all day and night long. We found out this is where the fire escape was located and the patrons from the bar, go up the fire escape, come into the hotel hallway and use the bathroom in the hallway until 2 a.m.!
Bathroom - We were left two hand towels to have a shower with (for two people) and one folded face cloth - that was dirty!!! There was a big stain on it where someone had washed their face! And.. "the lake view" we were told of - well, we faced the roof of an adjoining building and were directly over the patio bar! If we looked far in the distance we could see a little bit of water from the lake!
Needless to say, we could not stay in this room and the unfortunate thing was it was the August long weekend and every hotel/motel was completely sold out.
When I left my key at the front desk as we left, i could hear the owner telling her dog to stop barking as she didn't want to see me in the lobby. Well I waited and when I told her about the conditions of our hotel room, she told me "I was just one person" and she slammed the door in my face!!! How's that for customer service?!!!

Please feel free to contact me via email if you need any further information.

Stay "OUT" from this INN. I too should have accessed Trip Advisor reviews first instead of wasting time at this Inn with the same rude, argumentative, owners that give more attention to their drinks in hand at the bar than the needed customer service when complaints are warranted.
According to these owners you must not complain to their staff even should staff ask you " How is your room" . It was a mistake to book 3 nights here after seeing a deceiving ad. Definitely a blessing after owners confronted me and argued my complaints to staff I happily checked out after 2 wasted nights here.
I easily stay in 60 nights at hotel rooms per year and have to say this place is by far the worst.
Upstairs hall has urine smell as you head to room #15. Air Conditioner vents was coated with much accumulated dust and suspected mold. No electrical receptacles in bathroom let alone a dryer. Only 2 electrical receptacles in common area and all plugs used to the max. I believe the electrical is a hazard here. Hallways are filthy. No security locks within the rooms....who knows what keys are in whose hands. No standard Ice cube machine available for use by patrons here. Dogs barking at will from nearby rooms...probably the owners dogs as previously mentioned.
Authorities having jurisdiction here should boost the Bobcaygeon town of this big let down and enforce all necessary standards here for health and safety as a start. Otherwise do not stay at this place.

My husband phoned the Inn just before we left home to confirm our reservation and make sure there would not be any check in issues. We arrived for a much needed break on a Friday night in October at about 9:00 p.m. When we finally found a door to enter the Inn it was locked. We did see a lady in another room and knocked on the door...it was the owner. She proceeded to leave us standing outside in the cold for 15-minutes while she looked for her "book" which she never located. She asked us what room we were checking into and she then took us into the restaurant, which was under major renovations and disappeared...she was looking for room keys and we were left in a dark room that was under extensive structural renovations. She finally took us up a very dirty, carpet torn stairway to our room, room #20. As we went up to the room this very nice lady informed us that her rooms are the best in the Kawartha area and that the Inn was built in 1863. She also indicated that there was something pink and slimy in the frig in room 20 but she'd clean it out later. Well the best room she was showing us, smelled of urine and was decorated in 1963. To be kind it was horrible! She then asked if we would like to see room 5, a King room. It was very similar to our experience viewing room #20, except we had several staircases to traverse but the room was the same dirty, urine smelling nightmare. It was at this point that she informed us if we weren't comfortable we didn't have to stay. We opted not to stay and it is now 10:30 p.m. On our way out, attempting to graciously leave the Inn, she started screaming at us and telling us we would never find anything better. It was very disappointing as we felt we had done our homework, including reading reviews of this location. I wonder if during the summer months when accommodations are difficult to get people lower their standards and we assume if a hotel/inn is booked it is good. Not the case here. If you don't mind urine smelling, rundown rooms where the management is extremely rude and disrespectful to their clientelle this is the place for you.
