We have stayed in several places in the Lake of Bays / Dorset area over the years and the Bread and Butter Inn was the best. It's a bed and breakfast with beautifully styled and modernized rooms. The shared facilities are spacious and cozy at the same time. The owners are so lovely and since a former chef is providing breakfast you'll be spoiled (have the French toast!) Highly recommended.

Hospitality "par excellence". Everything was like new. A very comfortable, exceptionally clean, quiet, well appointed room … all in a lovely, pristine house with beautiful gardens. Full, expertly cooked breakfast prepared "as we like it"… when we like it! Thank you Beate for a thoroughly fine B&B experience. We highly recommend the Bread & Butter Inn … it is a true Muskoka gem.

We recently stayed 3 nights. What a fantastic stay!! Beds & pillows were comfy, everything was spotless and the breakfast was to die for!! We loved watching the hummingbirds during breakfast. The inn is centrally located - close to numerous lakes for paddling. We will definitely be back. Thanks to Beate, Lily and Lucy for your wonderful breakfast and company during our stay.

My husband and I had a fabulous weekend at the Bread and Butter Inn! We planned a side by side trip to use the extensive trails in the area but the highlight of the trip was our stay! Our room was lovely, very clean, quiet and the bed was so comfortable! We can’t say enough good things about the food! Breakfast was amazing both mornings and dinner Saturday night was spectacular! All home-made with the freshest ingredients! Thank you to Beate, Lothar, Lily and Lucy for making our weekend so enjoyable! We will definitely be back! Dan and Lynda

Very nice place, and nice clean rooms. The hosts are lovely and they make you a fantastic breakfast. The B&B is located close to Algonquin Park, a must to visit this beautiful park. If you have some spare time, make sure you visit Robinson’s General Store in Dorset. What we call in Dutch: de winkel van Sinkel. Fantastic!

We just spent a relaxing weekend at the Bread and Butter Inn -- a beautiful home, set on a beautiful property, surrounded by nature. The hosts Beatte and Lothar are wonderful people, so extremely welcoming and helpful. There is nothing that we would change about this BnB. We have been fortunate enough to stay in some very nice places over the years, and the Bread and Butter Inn is right up there -- absolutely first rate. ~mike & becky

We had a wonderful couples weekend away. The hospitality was exceptional and the breakfast was delicious!! We had an amazing time with our friends on the atv trails near by as well as our social time at the inn. We were very pleased, that we have already booked our weekend for next year. Thank you again for a great weekend!

We just returned from a 3-night stay at the Bread and Butter Inn, and we have nothing but good things to say about our experience. Beate and Lothar were extremely friendly and hospitable. Our room was very nice and clean, and our bed was super comfortable! The breakfasts were all very tasty - would definitely recommend the pancakes and the eggs benedict! We also purchased an additional dinner at the B&B, which was equally exceptional. We will definitely be back!!

Beate and Lothar go out of their way to provide an exceptional experience at the Bread and Butter Inn. From the moment we reserved our room, Beate was available to answer any questions we might have with a friendly and gentle manner. She and her husband Lothar are perhaps the kindest hosts we have ever met and we felt like we were staying with family. The house itself is breathtaking both inside and out with lovely decorative touches and a home-away-from-home feel. You can see Beate's gorgeous taste shine through the entire house. Our ensuite room was lovely, overlooking the garden and it was very tranquil. Beate provides some nice extras in the washroom such as wipes and a hairdryer which were greatly appreciated. The breakfast was "Michelin Star" quality was a selection of choices on the menu. We had our breakfast overlooking the garden each morning. There are great spots for adventure in the local area. We visited Huntsville, Dwight Beach and hiked in Algonquin. My only complaint was that I couldn't stay for longer!
