A true northern experience, to be appreciated in every season. A communal firepit by the water's edge is a available and a great place to meet other travellers or make s'mores with the kids. Our friendly staff will welcome you, show you around the property, and provide you with information about local hiking, ATV and snowmobile trails. Our restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily and features a wholesome family-friendly menu. We hope to see you soon at the lodge!

Detailed Reviews
The staff was courteous and helpful, the rooms, although rustic, were clean and the mattresses comfortable. Our complaint was with the food: even though it was in chafing dishes, it was at best, lukewarm. I asked for my plate to be microwaved, as did others, but it was still lukewarm. They also ran out of salad, bread and chicken. They offered wings to compensate and that took another 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the rest of the food isn't getting any warmer. Breakfast was a bit better: eggs and bacon, sausage were hot but the potatoes were inedible and the crock of beans was brought out after everyone had served themselves. Food wise, very disappointing!

I am here for my second stay this summer, because I often work in the area. I used to pay the outrageous hotel rate in Elliot Lake until a co-worker suggested Dunlop Lake Lodge. What a find....the hotel is set on a gorgeous property, on the most pristine lake, where I now fish everyday after work. Trish, the owner, her children and her staff could not be any nicer. The restaurant meals are homemade, the drinks cold and the entertainment amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

We booked two rooms for a snowmobiling trip to Dunlop Lake Lodge for February 2020. We had book over 2 months in advance to make sure of our reservations. We had booked 3 nights in a row then we were leaving for two nights and coming back to Dunlop for one last night. During our 3 night stay rooms werevnice but TVs did not work and kitchen ran out of propane so one nights dinner and one breakfast were sub par because ovens and stove did not operate. We left our vehicles on site and left for 2 nights on snowmobiles but before we left we checked our reservations for the last night and the owners confirmed we were good. When we arrived back from 3 days of snowmobiling we were informed by the owners that they had overbooked and we did not have a room to sleep in. We were told that they could find us a room in someone's basement which was 10KM from the lodge and there was no meals available. This was totally un acceptable. We had to pack up and drive 5 hours back home. I would not stay at this resort again as owners were friendly but totally unorganized and incompetent

The owner is rude, aggressive, belittling customers.
The price for the room and the view, is NOT worth it.
The place reeks of stale cigarettes, rooms are dark and run down, and the rest of the building isn't much better!
The restaurant service staff was the only highlight, as they were friendly.
Don't waste your money here.
Stay in town, at the Hampton hotel!

I just recently got married at Dunlop Lake Lodge. When I visited in March & May as we aren't from the area we were promised quite a bit, it would be all renovated, everything would get taken care of, but of course it was not. The outside of the building looked terrible. I was waiting for my quote from February til July, finally got it 2 weeks before the wedding. Jane is a very nice and sincere lady, but completely unorganized/overwhelmed. I would never recommend them for weddings. As the bride, the last thing on my mind is checking in my guests, getting them settled, finding the housekeeper to see if the rooms are clean (which they weren't, and the cabin was full of mice). My guests wanted to leave and go to stay at the Hampton. Everything that was left up to Dunlop was terrible, ordered the wrong chairs, served seafood (when they were told I'm deadly allergic and not to have any at all all day), rehearsal dinner was wrong, there was no booze on the head table for the first toast (we had to chase them down)... it was honestly a disaster, the only good thing was the food, I have to give them that, and the grounds by the lake were beautiful. But in the end It was bad enough to make me write this bad review so that future brides are aware of what they will have to deal with.

Response from Amirr, Owner at Dunlop Lake Lodge
Responded Jul 24, 2013
Hello there, Thank for your feedback on TripAdvisor. We have changed our management team base on your and another reviewer's comments. We also fixed all problems to provide a better customer experience. The old manager made so many bad decisions and we are sorry you had a very bad experience. We highly encourage you to revisit the lodge, stay with us again at a discounted price and reconsider your comment base on your new experience. Many thanks, Dunlop Lake Lodge

If you are looking for a hotel where all you do is hide in your room and analyze decor than go to the Hampton Inn and spend $260 a night. If however you are looking for the perfect quite getaway with a great view and lots of outdoor scenery than please go here. I stayed here for work for 2 weeks putting the roof on the new foodland and I was pleasantly suprised with everything...the owner (Trish) is amazing, very sociable and doesn't hesitate to cater to your needs no matter how big or small. (She literally mailed my toothbrush and razor i forgot to my house at NO CHARGE). The restaurant was decent with a great selection of food and daily specials (half priced fish and chip tuesdays) The staff were all very friendly to us and at the end of my stay I couldn't help but feel like we were part of their family. I will surely go back.
Side note ...EVERY one of the negative reviews I have read were from the previous owners the place has been redone and is EXACTLY what you see in the website.

After being closed for months, Dunlop Lake Lodge has new owners. We'd heard good things from people around town, so we decided to check out the restaurant. We were greeted promptly and given a choice of tables; either in the lounge or the dining room. We chose the dining room. Menus are the same regardless of which room you eat in. The menu offers a selection of burgers, sandwiches, and hot entrees including liver and onions, salmon with dill and hunter schnitzel. Both my husband and I ordered the latter. For $12.95 we got home made soup to start (delicious!), schnitzel with choice of potato, mushrooms and gravy, cooked veggies and coffee or tea. Dinner arrived promptly. It was hot and delicious; we both cleaned our plates. We ordered a half liter of wine with dinner which cost a reasonable $13.50. We were offered a choice of desserts; apple pie, carrot cake, coconut cream pie and butternut squares. We both had the butternut squares to accompany our after dinner tea and it was a nice way to wrap up our meal. The total bill including taxes was $50. Service was friendly and well paced but not intrusive. We will definitely go back!
Since we only visited the restaurant, I cannot comment on the hotel accommodations.

I just attended a wedding at this rustic yet breathtaking Resort! A true Canadian experience. The owners were hard workers and busy but beyond accomadating. I was a guest without a date and felt uncomfortable and they made sure I was well taken care of. The staff were also fantastic, especially a young man who wore glasses who was so proffessional and was always asking if he could do anything for the guests. The views and decks and lakeside wedding was breathtaking for an outdoor wedding. Down to earth great people for a TRULY northern gataway! I cannot thank them enough for their hospitality and know the bride and groom were immensily pleased. The master suite was georgous with an entire wall of window looking at the lake, big kitchen with centre Island and two LARGE bedrooms. The master Bath had a huge sunkin jacuzzi with a sauna! I will be returning for sure for a small vacation. The drive there was even enjoyable.

Stayed in Elliot Lake on my way to Sault Ste. Marie and had to stay at Dunlop Lodge because the Hampton Inn was full. Quite frankly I'm disappointed by these other reviews because I had a wonderful stay. I had a delicious dinner when I arrived; the roasted red pepper soup was fantastic. My room was complete with a satellite dish and movie channels and I had a breathtaking view overlooking the lake. It was fantastic. The owner was even gracious enough to wake up at 5:30am to make me breakfast before I left. I will definitely be staying there again in a few days on my way home. Cheers!
