As a tramper it was a great hub. Comfy rooms, great common areas, great hosts. Nearby Sports Club has good food and yoga! easy walk to hot springs and not-so-easy hike to Mt Heale hut. Both worth it. Big Pucu(?)Cafe nearby is great, too. Easy to hitch anywhere.

I stayed one night before my first tramp. This was the winter and I was the only person staying. There was a private room. I was in a room with 5 beds. This is basically for backpackers or couples (in the private room). The owners are an amazing couple who made me feel at home. Great to speak with. They...

We stayed there for three nights on Easter weekend. This is the best location to stay on Great Barrier Island. Very central and close to the airport, shops, café, Thai restaurant, chemist, sport club and golf club. Everything you need it's there. Bruce and Kate are great hosts and you feel like you are part of the family. Bruce also...

We had a wonderfull stay at crossroadlodge. They we're very welcoming and invited us for diner. The second day they introduced us to their son and his girlfriend. They took us out on their boat to go nightfishing nearby. Was one of our most special experiences during our trip trough New Zealand.

Dont know where to start... Arrived at Crossroads after a long tramp up to Mount Heale hut in the bush, and I have to say, Crossroads is awesome! Bruce and Kate are the best hosts - didnt see much of Kate as she was all over the show (and also I'd had a few beers which probably didnt help.. haha)...

Stayed here during labour weekend 2012. Fabulous stay- well located- within reasonable distance to Medway beach, hot springs, golf course etc. but the best thing about this hostel are the owners. Bruce and Kate do a wonderful job running the place- extremely friendly and great to sit and chat to, very helpful and ever so welcoming. The communal areas at...

I spent 4 great nights here, excellently positioned on Aotea, you are half way to everywhere! it is an easy 2 km stroll into claris and there are little paths along the road to detour and take in the bush, mind the drivers though, both tourist and locals, however people are very friendly and helpful. The island itself is sooooo...

What made this accommodation special was the friendliness of kate and Bruce, who would do anything for us and were very kind and entertaining. We enjoyed the warmth of a lovely fire each night and good conversation. Ill certainly recomment this place to others as long...

The owner of our arranged accommodation didn´t turn up to let us in so Bruce and Kate rescued us by letting us stay at their place. Their hospitality made us want to stay there for the rest of the trip. Basic backpackers sleeping area, nice kitchen / lounge area.
