Toni - an awesum host. Luved the company of the pooches but wish they could've come in & spent time with us but understand reasons. They are gorgeous!!! The views from our units - to die for!!! Given we are city folk, the tranquility of Manuka lodge blew us away. Holy moly - no tv, no internet bahaha but we...

We found Toni the host lovely but a bit intrusive and we understand the environmental impact on the area but were told so much , almost a bit or info overload She did tell us she would pop in to unit to empty pig bin, so left by bench for her, but she did come in and we felt a...

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry you felt I intruded. I did say that I would be in to clear the rubbish ( pig bin and other trash) which is what I always do as in a studio apartment it can get a bit whiffy if left too long. Noone else has ever had a problem with this and I...

HIghly recommended. we had no idea what to expect, but knew it would be quiet. GBI is a looking glass back in time, but in a good way. Manuka Lodge is a short stroll to the beach, and shop, clean and tidy, with a fantastic view over the harbour. well thought out and a lovely place to stay. Toni is...

we have just had the most relaxing 3days in at Manuka Lodge. Toni was great with communications before we arrived. Everything was as described. Very peaceful. close to the beach. Shops just around the corner. Basic arrangements but that is the beauty of this place in general. Come to Gt Barrier to get away from it all.. Fantastic experience around.

Manuka Lodge was a perfect choice for us! We booked through DailyDo, so had got a great deal for flights and accommodation. Toni was the ultimate Barrier host; friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. We felt very comfortable to come and go as we pleased. The room was well set up, with a beautiful outlook, and equipped with all we needed -...

Manuka Lodge, Great Barrier Island - peaceful, relaxing, friendly and beautiful place to be. Comfy room, tea, coffee, milk, all the basics provide along with kitchen stuff. Nice view from the balcony. Toni is very friendly and exceptionally knowledgable about the island with tips and advice. We'll be back and recommend it you all. Tip - bring yourself a small...

Stayed at the lodge as part of the great deal that Toni setup with FlyMySky via Spreets. Manuka Lodge was a great base to have on the island. We hired a car from the airport to help us get to know the island and it really helped us get on some of the great tracks around the island, many on...

The unit was very clean and comfortable with fantastic views over the bay. Two things I'd like to mention; 1) We had to drag our bags down a rather overgrown path to get to the back of the unit and then up some stairs which made things quite difficult. 2) There could have been some sort of lighting along the...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. You'll be pleased to know that the path was tidied shortly after your stay. Yes, living on the Barrier is challenging. Outside lighting is not something that those who live here use as we have to produce our own power. To provide enough power at night to run outside lights...

Don't want to complain too much but was disappointed that the Lodge was not as isolated and private as the pictures suggested. The unit was comfortable and the views where lovely, especially at sunset but we're spoiled by Toni's lack of organisation at running her generator in the early evening and blaming our morning coffee which used a few minutes...

The reason most people visit Great Barrier is to get away from it all, which includes TVs and wi-fi. It does take bit of getting used to which is why I try to give a detailed meet and greet to all guests. At least they don't have to learn how to light the fridge!! Costing on Great Barrier may seem...

“Both units were quiet and near the bush, so lots of birdsong in the morning. Rosalie Bay Road is a sealed road that doesn't get much traffic and the Lodge is about 400m from the main road and beach. We hired a car from the airport as transport is infrequent. It definitely was the best option to see the Island and visit bays, walking tracks, galleries, restaurants and shops. Food is expensive to buy so we bought our own breakfast food and items for lunch as we wanted to do some of the many walks on the Island. Unfortunately the June storms closed many of the tracks but we did visit Windy Canyon and the Hot Pools at Kaitoke. Everyone on the island is very friendly and relaxed, so it really was a great place to relax and unwind. We booked the Lodge as part of a Flight and accom. package so it was very reasonably priced without cutting any corners. We ate dinner at the local Irish Pub, Currach both nights and would definitely return there. The snapper was juicy and fresh and the beef curry was exceptional.”
