We stayed one night as part of a tour and enjoyed our brief visit. The room was very basic and fine for one night. There was no heat, but extra blankets worked fine for mid-August. The property itself is unique with a rustic vibe and in a rural setting. You’ll be surrounded by the sights and sounds of farm animals, loose dogs, birds and lots of flowers. Dinner was simple, but done well and there is a cozy bar to grab a drink afterwards. The walk to the town square is less than five minutes.

We spent one night at Kuntur Wassi as part of a private tour to Colca Canyon arranged through the hotel. The room, staff, service and food were excellent. Our tour guide Harly was friendly and informative. We were able to see many condors during our tour. I would highly recommend this hotel and tour.

Great location with fantastic views from the balcony and tower. Good wifi. Bilingual reception desk lady was very helpful and friendly. Interesting, rustic, decor. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and bathrooms with all amenities necessary. A great place to stay at, in the sleepy Cabanaconde village, especially after completing the Colca Canyon trek!

The location of this boutique hotel allows for easy mobility to explore the small town before your trek to colca canyon. If you’ve taken a bus you’ll be dropped off in the city center and it’s a direct walk up a cobble stone road to reach your hotel. The hotel itself has a peaceful garden type atmosphere Pros: Comfy and warm bed (ask for extra heaters in the room if necessary), basic necessities, extra hot water showers, free tram to see the condors flying and to other must see locations. Luggage storage is available if you plan to take a trek or day tour. The restaurant was conveniently located upstairs and had a quaint view of the city. Cons: some of the staff (front desk) seem to be difficult to communicate with and there were issues with our credit card payments for the hotel as we booked through a third party vendor. The prices advertised at the hotel were much higher than what you’d pay online. There was disorganization when it came to check in/out and luggage storage. The staff was helpful in transporting us but slacked on bringing us back in a timely manner- we waited 3 hours past the time we’re were supposed to be picked up...with altitude sickness! But they did make up for it by bringing us soups and waters to our room. All in all, I highly recommend a stay here while you’re passing through town.…
