#2 of 12 Speciality lodging in Jagdalpur
Bastar Jungle Resort On the outskirts of Jagdalpur, the district headquarter and nerve centre of Bastar, just where the forest begins, is our Unique, Bastar Jungle Resort. (BJR). Away from the maddening crowd of the town, set amidst nature, BJR is a set of picture perfect cottages and tents-if you want more adventure-adjacent to some villages and ponds. Built in the Chhattisgarh style, these cottages are comfortable and pleasant and are fitted with modern amenities. Among the many things that you can do here, the most exciting can be treks to the tribal villages close by. Walk along the winding rough and ready pathways into these villages, meet the friendly village folk, talk to them about yourself and about their life, join them in preparing a meal or milking their cows, sit and watch the gentle rhythms of their daily chores…in all this, discover a world you thought did not exist…of simplicity, gentleness and warmth so rare in our times.

... the location is gorgeous and stunning, the maintenence of the cottages is poorly. I arrived during a heavy thinderstorm and the roof in my cottage was leaking .... ! Cottages are spacious, nice veranda – again poorly maintained and poorly furnished. Staff – after first introduction – was very friendly and helpful. The forests around the place and th evillages are great.

The name is apt for the place. In the midst of a jungle. it’s a wonderful place to relax. The mobile connectivity is patchy letting you to take a real break from the concrete Jungle. Stayed here in Jan 19 for a day for a big family vacation. This place is a retrostyled one. No front office or a big reception. Book on line go and stay there. Basic staff, very courteous and responsive. The amenities too are basic. 24 hour hot water supply, AC, fire place a much needed one in this place, a room heater and a TV are all they have. The cottages are very big and spacious, having a fire place, the deluxe rooms were good enough for a couple and they do not have a fire place. All the rooms were clean and very well maintained. There is a large open area in the middle of the rooms for kids to play. Good vegetation all round the place. The one thing that I thought was necessary was camp fire to beat the cold. They provide wood for a camp fire though it is chargeable. The lawns are well maintained and clean. The walk ways too are good. Food was real tasty and good though limited variety. The dining place too has a fire place. Quite difficult to sit here without fire in the evenings. The temperatures were 8 – 9 degrees Celsius in the town in Accuweather, but I am pretty much sure it was a bit lower than that as we were in the outskirts in the midst of thick vegetation. When we sat at the fire place our front part of the body was warm and the back was moist due to fog. The other thing I was very mused about was the bathing area. A modern one which opens into an old fashioned open aired bathing area. Don’t worry its open to the air. Just in case you want to have an open air bath which is not possible in this concrete jungle. I used to see them when I was a kid in my grand parents village. A nice place to stay though not many activities.

The resort is very nicely located in the jungle and the meals are awesome but the property needs the renovation as it has become quite old now. The rooms needs to be painted and the bathrooms should be upgraded.

It is the 2nd time I have come here to this charming Nature Retreat. What I like is the location amidst a nice forest, the calm atmosphere, the spacious bungalows - all with a big veranda, in- and outdoor shower, a spacious bathroom and a neat restaurant with very delicious food! The staff is very helpful and friendly and the management is doing a great job! It is a wonderful place to just read, write, relax from busy and loud Indian city life. Ideal for foreign travelers looking for a place to calm down and take up fresh energy! If possible, we definitely come again! Sabina & Andreas, Germany
