This is a small hotel with very safe parking and good value for money. It is spotlessly clean and though the rooms are small they are adequate with everything you need. Great shower in bathroom. Good WiFi. Would return if in the locality.

Stay marred by the culinary experience! No dinner available if you arrive after 8.00 p.m. and breakfast was a crowded, noisy affair with a limited choice of food. Would return based on location alone.

On our return from a two week camping trip to the South of France we stayed at this lovely hotel. It is just gorgeous, clean and spacious with pure crisp cotton sheets on the bed. Sheer bliss. We had encountered many traffic jams on the way back and so were delighted to be in time for dinner (finishes at 8pm which we were aware of) which was delicious. Breakfast was more than adequate. My one regret is that we did not have enough time to really appreciate this wonderful place. Hopefully we can make a return trip one day.

a group of 6 of us stayed here one night during a long cycle trip. The rooms and beds are really lovely - high end fittings. food was good and service was okay. At 9.00pm after dinner we were asked to have our coffee in the lounge - which is the reception area. We heard a commotion in the restaurant - the final couple of people in there were also asked to leave and were obviously disgruntled. We wanted to order additional drinks. There was a locked cabinet advertising cognac etc to buy. We looked for someone to serve us. The member of staff on duty - there was only one - suddenly locked the door between us in reception and the restaurant and then locked the front door whilst saying goodnight and left. We were astounded. This was 9.15pm. Their loss as we wanted to spend money. Our loss because we wanted another drink - maybe a couple more rounds of drinks. Really spoilt our view of the hotel and it seemed the view of the other couple who were there on business and were also looking for more time over drinks to discuss work. we might have stayed again for the accommodation quality but not for the service times offered. what a shame.

If you would like your trip to be spoilt by the rude owner of this hotel, then maybe consider this hotel. The owner seemed friendly at first but then there were many occasions where his manner was shocking. First we were told check in was at 5pm, but having stayed in many hotels in the past, that doesn't normally mean the hotel is completely shut until 5pm. We arrived at 2pm from a 4 hour journey hopping to use the facilities, have a drink and a little rest before getting our room at 5pm, but only found the hotel completely shut and nothing in the village was opened. We then had to drive another 30 mins to find a place that had a bar to have a drink after the long journey. Had we known this, we could have planned our journey accordingly but this is not mentioned on the website and was not mentioned to us with our booking. Then I asked if I could borrow an iron and an ironing board, he was friendly in saying yes, but made me carry the ironing board and iron by myself up a floor negotiating the narrow stair case... not the service I would have expected! Then at dinner we asked for recommendations and we got a sharp answer (with a fake smile) to say he didn't know us and he cannot recommend us anything and then he pulled a face with our choice of wine. He seemed to be annoyed with the kids being kids and us having a good time with our friends. Well and the last straw was when I asked at check out if it was ok for us to hang around for a bit as we had 45 mins to spare until we had to be in our next destination and the answer was 'No, check out is time to leave, I need to clean and rest'... ok fair enough, I found the response unfriendly but ok.. then we went to pack the car to leave and while my husband was packing the car I sat down on a chair in the garden to apply sun cream on the kids and he came to me and said "I thought I was very clear when I said you had to leave the hotel".. that was incredibly rude and completely ruined our stay. We had been in France for 2 weeks and this was the worst place we stayed in and would not recommend it at all, I'm sure there are many other places around that are friendlier and better. On top of all of that, our room had a funny smell and the kids bed was on a slope!

All this review is a mix of intent based and false accusation : our customer service is great and we draw limits to it for everybody’s best interest (customer rates, staff wellbeing, company profitability) - We provide EARLY CHECK-IN to our customers who ask to arrive before 5 p.m., you didn’t ! and it is on our website in your language (rooms/rate page) - You came to the front desk in the morning for the iron, we go INSTANTLY together to the 1st floor storage room, where you take it from me to your room on the second floor and never asked for us to do it for you. We told you that you didn’t have to give it back and to leave it on the second floor - We respect our customer taste and so don’t see any reason to lead them towards this meat or this fish recipe, you don’t get it, why blaming the “service” ? - we finally made a recommendation for your second bottle of wine TO PLEASE YOU, after asking you if you knew this very specific grape (petit verdot), describing it to you, and listening to your answers, what a reward for this effort ! - “seemed annoyed” is pure conjecture and you can’t even tell any FACT. But you accuse us anyway - Finally about your stay BEYOND THE TIME LIMIT : first you never mentioned a duration for this stay, second on heavy duty times like august, yes, the check out is the end of the service an we need break. So when the service is over, it can’t be terrible, it is just over So you want everything, always, before and after and make a caprice when you don’t get it. Reading your other reviews is really instructive about that! Shame on you. TO THE READERS, if you never get the difference between a 3 and a 5 stars hotel ? behind the rates, it is the service limits ! Whoever is not convinced by all this, should consider booking somewhere else, with all our respect and for the best.

The hotel is tucked away so was a little tricky to find at first but was in a very very quiet location which was just what we wanted. There is plenty of on site parking. It's and attractive old house with two large outbuildings in a courtyard arrangement. We were shown to our room which was in a separate building and we had the whole ground floor. The room was a good size with a large comfy bed and a good sized very modern bathroom with a good shower. Everywhere was very clean and tidy with everything working as it should.

We were told that the restaurant was full that night so we'd need to eat somewhere which wasn't a problem for us as we hadn't driven too far but as there is no where else to eat locally it is bit of a trip to the nearest place. The breakfast was good and the owner was very friendly.

This was a good value hotel but could be a little remote for some people depending on what you wanted to do, but having said that it's very quiet and relaxing. We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

It is sort of funny because we booked and stayed at Domaine du Prieure just after Carolina R was there and wrote her appalling review. But we proceeded with the booking, believing Carolina's was an anomaly, that she might just have been the guest from hell that we all would dread if we were inn keepers. So right we were!

We were greeted graciously in the early evening and fortunately had time to bring our bags to the rooms (parents and two boys 11/13 yo) before dinner there. We were very please with the accommodations -- not luxurious but well appointed, well priced, clean and perfect for several nights stay (unfortunately, we were there just for the night). We were also glad for the air conditioning!

We took dinner on the terrace, which was really lovely and Jean Marc was attentive to us, answering our questions about the food, the region, whatever. Everyone was very pleased with dinner and the wine selection by the glass was just fine. Pleasantly satisfied by the meal, we took a stroll into the village and took in the preserved medieval fortifications.

After a peaceful, quiet sleep, we enjoyed a perfect breakfast that set us up for a nice day on the road. The boys enjoyed the array of interesting games they have in the salon. We did not stay at many public places during our two weeks in France but this was our favorite and we talk about our brief stay there when we d our picture presentations to friends and family.

Location is set back, but the small town of Tonnay Bouttone is a delight on route to the coast. The hotel is a cosy manor house style building. The hosts are friendly and efficient. Dinners reasonably priced and fabulous cuisine. Breakfasts are continental and of excellent quality. We stayed in the separate bedroom for disabled people , for 2 nights and found the bedroom and ensuite very comfortable. Would recommend without any hesitation.

My experience was similar to many of the reviews posted in French. Nice building, rooms and grounds but a number of incidents where I was surprised at the management displaying a lack of skill in interacting with clientele.

The one dinner we had was good and given the lack of alternatives in the area I could see staying here again but would be prepared to experience less hospitality and tact than is typical for this type of property.

This hotel is under new ownership and could be regarded as work in progress. Service is excellent, the owners could not be more friendly and helpful. The first impression of Domaine du Prieure is impressive, a fine old building set in large grounds just outside the old town portal. The foyer and lounge areas are an eclectic mix of furnishings objects'darte, but comfortable spaces to sit and relax. The stairs and passageways to our rooms were gloomy and in need of refurbishment. My smallish room was rather basic, but adequate, as was the bathroom. Our rooms generally need refurbishment to match the promise of the dinner we had later. It was faily simple cuisine, but very well prepared and presented, delicious in fact. Our drinks were somewhat expensive, but the service is good. One day we may return to see whether the vision of the new owners has been fully realised.
