Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park is a year-round naturist park near Toronto in Canada where the entire family can experience traditional naturist values in a modern setting. We are nestled among the natural wilderness of the Ontario Greenbelt and Oak Ridges Moraine. Our varied landscape includes open spaces, forests, ponds, streams and a small lake. We also have many recreational facilities. Our clubhouse provides year-round amenities including saunas and a whirlpool. Bare Oaks offers day-use memberships and seasonal campsites but also welcomes visitors and travellers. Some might use the terms nudist and nudism to describe us and what we do. But we prefer naturist and naturism because our creed is so much more than just taking your clothes off. It is a life philosophy with physical, psychological, environmental, social and moral benefits. We go beyond a mere recreational pursuit and promote ethical naturism. We endeavour to live a naturist life and nudity is key to body acceptance and an integral part of our naturist philosophy. As such, we are not clothing-optional. Clothing is worn only for protection. We give visitors a chance to adjust but everyone is expected make a decision as to whether they want to be naturists or not.Located between Toronto and the gateway to Ontario's cottage country, it is the perfect location to stay while visiting Toronto. A short drive south on Highway #404 gets you into Toronto in about 30 minutes.

As a relative newby to visiting Naturist resorts I very much appreciated the welcoming environment at Bare Oaks. This is my second visit. This year the first folks I met were on my arrival at my site. A couple of the permanents saw me arrive and quickly gave some recommendations on approach to my lot and helped me move the rather heavy picnic table to make room for my rig.

The camp sites are not glamourous but they suit the location. I am travelling in a 36 foot motorhome and was able to get one of their 50amp sites. Mine was right beside the showers, which normally I would not want but here being by the showers was almost a social event. Everyone waved and said hello. The sites have power and water but no sewer. There is a honey wagon if you need... But with outdoor showers and washrooms it is easy to stretch your grey and black capacity. There is even a kitchen sink by the washrooms if you want to spare the water in your rig. The dump station is on the main road as you depart.

From a naturist perspective it is easy to enjoy your entire stay in the nude, weather permitting. I was here for three days and wont be doing any laundry when I get home. Both the pool and the pond were comfortable temperatures for swimming and I spent plenty of time in both. If you are going to use the pond, bring a floaty, that is where things are most social. There was a nature trail, but the bugs were still omnipresent in July so I decided to wait until my next visit to explore those. The hot tub and saunas are closed due to COVID so I cannot comment on them. There were at least two locations for Ladder Ball and two volleyball nets. The mini putt course was under repair while I was there but looked like it could be a fun distraction.

I was travelling as a single male, which I know for many is challenging at naturist resorts. I was always made to feel welcome at Bare Oaks and very much appreciate the efforts of the seasonals to say hello and make my visit a success.

I have a second visit booked for 7 days and look forward to seeing the location over a busy weekend and sharing this resort with my bride.

Thank you so much for providing such a detailed review; others will appreciate it. And thank you for the top rating! Some of our campsites are indeed rather tight because they are from a time when most people had a tent or small trailer. Interestingly enough, some people prefer the ones in the centre which are the most crowded because they like the conviviality and sense of community. But we do realize that there is an enormous demand for campsites that we cannot meet. So we are working towards expanding in the future and those new sites will be more modern in design.

We spent 3 days renting the cosy cabin , The cabin was aptly named , small but clean and well laid out with a BBq for privet use.
The park itself was really clean and the staff and long term guests were welcoming and friendly.
This was the perfect place to introduce by adult daughter to my naturist side.
We had an amazing time and will be booking another trip !

I was a nudist newbie in 2019 when I discovered Bare Oaks (BO) in the Camping Ontario magazine. We camped a few times and fell In love with the park and Sutton area.

In 2020, I bought a membership and I spent every day off and all my vacation time at Bare Oaks. I found peace and solace in the park. Naked running, biking, walking and exercising in nature is a phenomenal experience. The best part is the human experience. I found myself connecting with people on a honest level and real conversations at the social breakfasts, campfires, volleyball games, swimming, dog walks, potlucks etc. This is not just a naturalists park. It invites an individual to an experience like no other. It's about body positivity and feeling good in your own skin.

The staff is welcoming, social and hard working. The park managers are competent, always visible and available to handle any situations or medical emergencies.

This is not a clothing optional resort. The owners also resides here and they will tell you "clothing is contagious" so be prepared to bare all. (Clothing can be worn for protection and warmth). There are several different accommodations to suit everyone. It's here and yours to discover an experience of a lifetime.

We just returned from our first overnight cabin visit to Bare Oaks. The staff were excellent and the camp members were very friendly. We used the hot tub and attempted the pool, but it was too cold (it is solar heated). We rented a cozy cabin, and were surprised when we did not have our own bathroom (we obviously need to do more research next time). We also thought we had a tv and our own fire pit (it is shared with the other cabins). The cost of the cabin starts at $99.00 but then they add on grounds fees???, housekeeping fees???. The dishes, utensils etc. are your responsibility to clean for the next person, they give you dish soap and a basin. There is no sink in the cabin so you have to use the hose outside. There is a unisex bathroom and shower nearby and trails to walk. The property is nice and well maintained. We had a good time, and may one day return.

We are glad that you enjoyed yourself! Our prices, including grounds frees, are competitive with other similar offerings in the Toronto area. For people with a membership, they do not have to pay any daily grounds fees which makes the cabins an incredible deal! We add a housekeeping fee which was instead of increasing fees (which have not increased in about a decade) or requiring a minimum stay. This way people who stay longer only pay the fee once.

Well where do I begin!? I must say that my stay was an amazing experience. I stayed for two days and one night (rustic camping). As a newcomer to naturism and specifically this naturist park, I was very thankful for how accepting the staff and the community were to welcome me and make me feel at home. I was very nervous about coming for my first time as I was going on my own but I soon found that anxiety disappeared and I was able to socialize and make tones of new friends!

I attended during the volleyball tournament and Canada day, it was a blast! I feel like there was lots to do from swimming in the beautiful lake to sunbathing while watching the games.

I must say I will be coming back again and I hope that people who are anxious about trying naturism take some reassurance that as long as your intentions are good and inline with naturist values that you will have no problems and you will fit right in.

I visited Bare Oaks for the first time staying three nights in a Queen room. It was a great experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful answering any questions I had. The facilities were very clean and everything worked out great. Great food in the bistro as well. It is not clothing optional so it was a true, wholesome naturist experience as opposed to a hybrid of clothed and unclothed people which some clothing optional resorts provide which can become awkward. The naturism didn’t take long to get used to and after awhile it becomes secondary and dissolves into the background.

Other guests were very easy to talk to and I met some very friendly, interesting people. Social interaction is so much easier free of clothes. Bare Oaks is a very welcoming family naturist resort and besides being a very enjoyable experience, it does wonders in boosting one’s mental health. Their motto is Free your Body, Free your Mind and I can certainly attest to the physical and mental benefits. I would return in a heart beat.

BO is great for family naturists.

Now, just a reflection on technical things.

The place looks much worse than in previous years. We have been going there for more than ten years. Nowhere else to go, thou...
There are only two showers on the beach, and one is not working since a long time ago. The other one is very weak.
Most of the tent sites available for rent in previous years, are occupied by permanently parked trailers, so on busy weekends, like the last one, people have to use the beach grass area to park their tents, not leaving almost any room to place a towel on the beach.
Pool deck is very shabby. Before it was nice to sit by the pool, but now I am afraid to get something jammed in my foot.

The water grass in the pond up until last week was really tall and an obstacle while swimming.
There is a flock of gees in the pond and the amount of their poop on the one mats on the water slide is becoming a pile visible from a far. I hope for more maintenance and well working showers on the beach.

But as I said, an atmosphere and the crowd is good, and BO is a place for family naturists.

We're very glad that you enjoyed the atmosphere but are sorry that you found some of our facilities were not to your expectation. There was indeed a problem with the showers at the beach. We are working to fix that. But as a long time visitor you would also know that until a few years ago there were no showers at the beach at all. We spending hundreds of thousands every year to add to our facilities. Unfortunately the growth has been significant which is why many of our spaces are full. But there are other grassy areas for tent camping areas on the other side of the mini golf or on the other side of Jarvis Pond. We do recognize that our growth is going to continue to be challenge and we are looking at buying more land for expansion.

I was at the campground yesterday and I have to say it was my therapy. It was 4 hours where I didn't think about work and I just relaxed. I was in the hot tub for a bit, the beach and eventually made my way over to the pool where I did AQUA AEROBICS! and you're staff at the Bistro were so professional. You have an amazing team, and a great atmosphere. I'll be back!

We went there to see how the Canadian naturist camps and it was very nice. Staff also were nude unless they were doing a hazardous job which they needed to have their bodies protected they wore clothing. Nice outdoor pool and the hot tub was inside also was very nice. There were a lot of families having a great time, we were just a couple with grown children who do not vacation with any longer not to mention being nude setting. We love it & look for any place where we can be nude & relax, a must for a nudist/naturist.

This park boasts that it is a family oriented campground but that couldn’t be further from the truth. We decided to take our kids here for their first foray into naturalism. What a mistake!! While the staff is amazing the owner of the park Stephane is anything but. We decided we wouldn’t force our kids to immediately get naked but rather let them do it at their own speed (they are 6 &8). The owner of the park told us to make them get naked or put them in the trailer, yet there were numerous adults fully clothed as well as staff the entire trip. Stephane not only was not understanding of our children but he had staff centre our children out and embarrass them thoroughly about the issue in front of other guests. At the same time all of this was going on there was an adult male who was taking pictures of children in the park. Stephane was not worried about that at all - but was worried about my child not being fully naked at all times ( my children did spend quite a bit of time naked). The gentleman taking pictures was allowed to remain at the campsite in all of the public areas but my child had to be in the trailer.

It is should be clear from other TripAdvisor reviews that we are indeed a very family-friendly place. This review contains a great deal of incorrect information and many of the occurrences this person complains about did not happen as described by them. Sometimes parenting can be challenging and children can frustrate us when they don't want to behave the way we want them to. At Bare Oaks we frequently make allowances for special situations. But those accommodations are a two-way street which require negotiations with staff. A difficult child is not a license to allow anything. This is especially true when one child's behaviour affects other parents' relationship with their kids. It is true that we expect parents to restrict their children to their campsite, but not just the trailer, if they are not behaving as expected. As they say, logical consequence for choices made. For the many families with children who visit regularly we obviously have the right policy When we get complaints from other guests about individuals who are not respecting our naturist atmosphere, it is the staff (and ultimately the owner or manager) who bears the brunt of the unhappy customer. We generally do not act unless there is a problem that is brought to our attention. We are proactive when we see an issue that may cause conflict with others. We feel that it is better for our staff to speak to an individual in order to avoid an uncomfortable confrontation between guests. Our staff is only clothed only for protection. We are well known for this and the other TripAdvisor reviews clearly illustrate this. If visitors are clothed inappropriately we speak to them if it is brought to our attention. But generally people who visit Bare Oaks respect our naturist philosophy because that is why they are there. Naturism is our creed and so much more than just taking your clothes off. Thanks for asking! We have a wide variety of accommodation types and rates that vary based on your situation. For example, if you have a Bare Oaks membership, you do not need to pay the day fees. If you are a member of a naturist organization, you qualify for discounts in some cases. And if you stay more than two nights, you qualify for further discounts. You can pay as little as $45.50/night for a room or as much as $220/night for a cabin (plus taxes) All of our rates are listed on the website. TripAdvisor prevents me from typing the website address in this response.
